Bah. I just beat the campaign, and I can explain my feelings with one word:

JIPPED.
Same here (beat it last night).

It was so unintentionally funny.

I don't think those crazy French Canadians realize how humorous this is to an American audience. My theory is they are so amused by all the weird American accents that they threw them all in there. That and the fact that they couldn't get real voice acting.

It's hillarious enough that absolutely EVERY member of your team comes from a different region of the globe, but when every scientist and civilian has his own riddiculously overexagerrated accent (my favorite: the slovak scientist), you just can't help but burst out in laughter.

Add to that a riddiculously cheasy storyline that is impossible to follow not because of its complexity, but because let's face it: who gives a shit?

There were a couple fun moments, one point I do remember clearly is saving/reuniting a civillian family (god did I feel badass when they thanked me), but overall, the game's SP gets a 7.

And really, with the rather singularly focused MP, the game's multiplayer gets a 7.5

Most overrated game of the year.

Online, you get exp. for any mode, ranked or unranked, win or loose, etc.

Rad. I've been playing a lot online to try and get more gear for my character. Good to know I don't need to do ranked matches to gain more exp.

I'm loving this game so far, but damn is it short. I've only been playing for the last day or so and I've already hit the last mission. The multiplayer will keep me busy for a really long time, but it's stinks that the single player isn't long.

I was also really surprised at the "Normal" difficulty level because it feels really easy. If I knew I wouldn't have that much trouble I would've cranked it up to "Realistic". Oh well, I'll probably do another single player run through on the harder setting later on.

I dont mind the single player campaign being "short". It took me about 9 hours to beat the game on normal co-op and am replaying the game on single player realistic mode now. The replay value and modes are there, plus you can rank up by playing co-op with your friends so thats pretty nice.

Any news on whether the Realistic mode glitch has been fixed? The one where if you start a game on Normal and go back to Realistic, it reverts back to Normal? I wanted to start a new game since it's short and fun to go through.

I agree with Happy Panda. I just beat the game this morning and I felt pretty let down. I had a blast playing through the single player, length aside. I think it was more of how the game ended:

The story was so crazy to follow, it was all over the place. When you finally find out that your teammate was working with Irina the whole time....well I asked myself if I should care. I honestly didn't remember who the guy was at first. Of course it obviously sets things up for a sequel. I was also disappointed with how easy Irina was, total pushover. I thought the last boss in Ghost Recon: AW was more challenging/fun.

The multiplayer (for me), makes up for most of it though. I've been having a blast playing all the different modes and slowly getting used to playing online. I really like playing the retrival/canister matches.

The first map is frustrating simply because of how large it is Also add in the fact that there are a million doors in that place.

I'm getting R6:Vegas in via a trade. Just wondering how the online was setup. Is it still tactical like the single player or is it kinda just a free-for-all?

I've only played Counter Strike on the PC a few times, but I'm guessing it's more like that, or a team deathmatch. True?
You can run and gun effectively on this game. But good team work can do wonders also. If I had to choose one genre to put it in I would say it's more run and gun than anything else.

Yes.
I don't have it, because I don't play ranked matches, but the easiest way to get it is play attack and defend on Calypso Casion on Bravo (or defend). Just spawn in the keno room and stay there, while picking people off. It makes it easier if Alpha is full of point whores and don't return the case.

Thanks, I got the achievement early this morning.

I personally hated that achievement, simply because I had to use a weapon I'm terrible at. Lucky for me the Ranked match I played in earlier this morning, had an Alpha team that bunched up near the helipad. It made it really easy to get those 10 sniper kills.

I usually don't play Ranked matches either, most of the people I've run into there are way too serious about the game. Player matches are definitely more fun.

T Hunts on normal is an easy 50 too iirc, and takes about an hour if you don't mess up, probably 2 for a normal player though. Just make sure you either do them in order, or write down what ones you finish, as its a pain in the ass not knowing which ones you need =p

Ok, I just got the game yesterday and I love it...although, I have a few online issues.

Just my friend and I were playing some online Coop Terrorist Hunt.

My issues:
- I lagged, he was fine (I checked my speakeasy.net Internet speed and it was 17MB down, and 350kb UP)
- My game would lock up often, causing me to completely shut down my console. It was a complete FREEZE. The Dashboard button would not work either.
- When my friend would switch maps, it would just hang for me saying switching GameType or Map.

There were a few more issues....any idea how to resolve these? He was always the host too. Not sure why it lagged either. Possible bad disc? Single played was working ok though.

I know lag could be caused by HIS connection, but I want to run this smoothly....I know my connections is good, according to the SpeakEasy test.

For the first issue, who was hosting, what was bandwidth of host, etc.

Second Problem, that happens to everyone. Random freezes. Even on the menus.

Then for switching maps, as in the red bar stops moving? It usually takes a while to switch maps.

Well, I hosted a game 2 nights ago, and I did not have lag, but he did. Not sure what to do since it was only my friend and I. He said it was a little better though, not as bad as my lag.

Also, the NON-HOST would hear gunfire constantly at times, and the host would not. Also, bodies would hang in mid-air for the non-host.

any other suggestions? Do I just need a faster upload speed? Which seems odd since the normal upload speed is capped off for Comcast, and I refuse to pay extra for a faster upload speed (which should be standard).I remember having that same issue a while back in January. Try having someone else host the match, updating your firmware and/or resetting your router if you're using a wireless router. What did the trick for me was resetting my router AND updating the firmware. It took a while, but it was worth it for no lag. Hope you figure it out.

Am I the only one who has one hell of a time playing single player T-Hunt?

I'm a pretty good shot, but it seems like either the enemy does more damage or they know where I'm hiding all the time. Anyone have any tips?

I've been playing Calypso on regular difficulty with medium density. I always close doors when I finish a room, as that door swinging open has saved my ass a million times.

Here's my general strategy:
Weapons: Submachine Gun, Shotgun, DEagle, Frag and Burn Grenades.

I silence my submachine gun, and run over to the cover by the stairs. Pull out my Deagle and take out the 0-5 guys that run up the stairs with that. Run down the stairs, open the door right in front, take out the 2 or so guys there, go down the stairs and left down the long hall, open the room next to the main casino, take out the 0-3 in there. Close that door, and head back to the roof. Go to the room next to the elevator shafts and kill the 0-2 guys behind the flaps. Go down the stairs, use my shotgun on whoever is behind the door. Enter the main casino with the SMG, and take out whichever guys are in those casinos. Then I head down the stairs by the cashier to what I guess is the computer/secuirty rooms.

This is usually where I get killed. There are just a ton of them down there, and they all seem to have shotguns or other things that one or near one shot me. I've even been getting wiped trying to throw a nade from behind cover.

I'm really not sure what to do, I found using an assault rifle absolutely useless once you get inside, which is why I switched to a SMG. Also it's useless to rapel down anywhere, as the Ts just run away before they even see you.

And finally just a minor complaint, but why no snake cam on THunt?

I usually use a semi auto sniper, a p90 and a gloc. smoke nads is your friend.

I m so frustrated wih T-hunt, because I always get killed with like 5 enemies left (Realistic, High Density) because I have to run around looking for them >_<

Red pack is actually really cool so far. Border Town Redux is weird. Its supposed to be night, but I get this weird Black and White color feeling. Or is it just me? Kill House seems like a waste, but I do like the modified spawns. Dr. Phil jokes are awsome too.

mmm this game is great! I got the demo and I've pretty much tried every shooter demo available now, and this and Lost Planet are the two I enjoy most in both Multi and Singleplayer. I tried the multiplayer though and I'm really not that great...on average I'm probably in the 4th or 5th in a team of 8. Just wondering what weapons are the best for the demo and are there any tips??

Dang this is my 3rd day with the demo and I got a lot better! Today I probably played 10 games, and I was 15/3, 10/1, 10/3, 11/4, and a few more good ones like that...it was great! I was first over everyone for at least 80% of the games I played. This game has the best online by far, even passing lost planet for me due to the fact that lost planet's lag sucks.

What really helped was when I figured out how to put a rifle scope on an SMG, and finding the good SMG for me, the M7A1 helped alot. Also I went the goliath armor which is the one with the most protection for the demo and I can take a lot more hits. Great game...now I gotta find it cheap and buy it. I heard theres an online levelling system for your character too

Just really got into the single player on this yesterday, even though its been on my shelf for a long time. I really, really enjoy it. It's got a flavor of splinter cell, with a touch more of a Halo-esque shooter. The cover system is great. Being able to pop out nail a guy with a shotgun and duck back is a ton of fun. Any chance the next 24 game could be like this?

I was surpirsed with how long the first level was. I thought it was just going to be a brief training run, but it had a lot to it, and even some challenge along the way. I'm partially through the 2nd level now and having a good time.

There's no online coop for the single-player missions, are there?

The only problem is most people play these ranked (so that you can level up your characters), and it kicks you back to the lobby after each map. So you can play through the entire story, but you'd have to host a new game for each map segment.

In co-op, you don't have any AI teammates. So, 2 player co-op is just 2 of you, and 4 player is 4 of you. No friendly AI either way.

Marginally. I love the new maps personally but I love the game in general. They're extremely large and more detailed than most of the ones that came with the game. If you can imagine Calypso Casino spread out to make a flat surface... that's the 2/3s the size of the Marshalling Yard. The restaurant sort of reminds me of the library level just with more doors. Kill House-Redux looks gorgeous and has minor changes... there's a pathway underneath the center elevation now and a door at the back of each "house." I dont remember much about Roof except there wasn't a lot of roof involved. If I remember correctly, it was a 4 story warehouse... the map that added the least to me. I haven't played the Border Town remix as it is not playable in Terrorist Hunt. As for the game modes... I haven't played Conquest yet. Assassination is an extremely quick game as there are no respawns with little action but lots of intensity due to the game's nature.

Conclusion: If you love R6 and want some new flavors, it's worth every penny. Otherwise, you may feel a little jipped. Personally, I feel like it's worth around $7 not the charged $10. It's a pretty common consensus among the people I play with. We all hope that the rumored Blue Pack will be a better value to make up for the slight overcharge of the Red Pack.

when playing co op story mode online, is it possible to see the list of completed maps. A couple of friend and I went thru the game, but on occasion we all woudn't be playing together. I had to go back and do a map that I guessed I had missed, but it didn't give the complete co op achievement to one of my friends. So he is missing at least one of the 20 boards.

I just did this last night (on normal though, so take that into account): I had a shield and raging bull, backed up against the wall of the little terminal cubby hole between the crate that's right there and the small wall outcropping. if you face forwards (with the staircase to your left), the fast rope line will be just a tad to your left, and just shoot the guys as they come down. your other squadmate should do okay with the guys coming from the right, but if not pop up from crouch and get off some head shots.

I did the same thing, but I had to do it fast, with one smoke at a time. I threw a smoke, ran out, triggered some enimies, retreated while picking them off. THen I went back out to trigger more enemies. I usually could get through 3-4 waves with one smoke, then when the first moke dissapeared, I popped the second smoke, rinse and repeat.

As for ryan's question, I don't know.

As far as I can tell, there isn't. I nearly played through the game twice before I got the achievement. I think the Casino vault was the final stage I skipped for some reason.

And for crimsonpaw, the 2 new modes are both pretty awesome, I still prefer team survival but conquest is really good.

No new modes with the Black map pack. Streets Redux is nothing really new, just dark (night time). The other maps seem really cool but big which may steer people away from them (for some reason people hate the bigger maps).

I play the game, but nothing like I did 2-3 months ago. Plus, I was hoping for added weapons, ranks, and etc too. I'll more than likely pass on this DLC.

I'm curious because I stopped playing a while ago because all I would run into were Campus/T-Hunt and Calypso/Attack+Defend. Got boring.

Also I'm burnt out on GRAW2 for playing it straight for almost 3 weeks and would like to get back into R6.

I run with no armor but only use ARs, currently using the SCAR. I honestly love the big maps along with the small ones cause it gives a change of pace and isnt just a grenade fest in one room (like the vault room in Casino Vault). When I played Marshalling Yard I loved it because of the size it allowed for multiple ways around a map so teams couldn't just camp one spot and wait for you. I found plenty of ways around, and yes it may have taken longer, but it was smarter to take those routes. Plus, if you're running 6 vs 6 or 7 vs 7 games, you'll still get the kills on bigger maps. Just my 2 cents anyways.

Very well said about the large maps. I looked at Border Town as a bigger map but it is also one of the best communicated maps as far as team work, basically cause one passed person could change the pace of play for a team. Plus, on a bigger map, the chances of getting trough a spawn camping are better cause the travel distance is greater to get back to the camping spots.

I, for one, am NOT downloading this based on what is included. This DLC is getting out of hand. Don't get me wrong, new stuff that extends a game's life cycle is nice but (if the price holds) they want another $10 for just 5 maps? I felt the Red pack was marginally overpriced for what it offered. I didn't really get into Conquest and Assassination created extremely short games. The maps were good but for $10 I got new game modes and maps. Now another $10 for only 5 maps. So for $80, I can have the game, 10 "new" maps and 2 new game modes (being a cheapass, it's closer to $60 for most of us). No thank you, the Black pack should be 400-600 points and discounted for those who purchased the Red pack. How about throwing in something other than maps and 2 new game modes for $20? Or some new weapons or ranks or accessories for free. I felt the same way after downloading the new maps for CoD2.

I'm beginning to think MS uses the point system so most people will not realize how much something really costs. DLC is the best new concept for the gaming industry in many years but is extremely lacking. If these companies continue to overprice and underwhelm, DLC will not survive.

It was brief, but it was there. But now, as you have already found if you've attempted a download over the past day or so, it is most certainly not there. The good Major (http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/06/26/tom-clancy-s-rainbow-six-vegas-player-s-pack-black-edition-in-game.aspx) offers little help on his blog, saying only: "This has been pulled. I'll let you know when it makes a return." Wow, cryptic.

The extra motivation on these map packs may include the fact that the PS3 version is going to include both DLC map packs for the same price. Now, personally I think getting the game months ahead of the PS3 was worth maybe missing out on a free pack or two, but Ubisoft clearly didn't want to upset their 360 user base. Either that or Microsoft pushed them into it, but that wouldn't fit with releasing the black pack on accident for $10.

Anyway, kudos to Ubisoft for keeping the playing field even and giving away something they really didn't have to.

Not really...It lets you add a prefix (3 letter code) to your name. For instance:

[CAG] LinkinPrime

This way, everyone can see who's with who, but there's no actual clan support. Its a blast though you have to get it, and for $39.99 at Circuit City, this week, you can't beat that.

I'm assuming I should add ya then? haha. Alright what are you guys rocking weapon wise, and any advice on armor?

I usually use an mp7a1 with silencer. I suck at aiming with shotguns, I'm really good with a sniper too.

edit: This is one of those times when I pray for the next XBL update you will be able to make folders in your friend list. Imagine having it set up like this.

Buddies(for your real life friends)
R6:V CAG Clan(for the cag vegas players)
Good Gears Players(for random people you play in Gears that are good guys and good at the game)

I stopped using the silencer, as it reduces damage.

For armor, I rock out the Corporal/Sgt 3 block armor on my chest, and that's it. I tried running with armor all over, and was slow as molasses.

For guns, my weapon of choice is the MTAR assault rifle. It has a 31 bullet clip, is good for close up and very accurate far away. I also occasionally switch to the MP7A1 or the MCG? shotgun or the scout tactical as needed. Occasionally, I'll be a jerk and pull out the shield, but it's pretty uselelss without the DEagle or Raging Bull.

A lot of the pray and spray, and even some of the better players swear by the MP9, but you can expect some "noob" comments if you use it a lot of the time.

When they announced the black pack was free, they also announced that the red pack would be free July 6. So, the announcement was probably a week ago, but it being free just kicked in today.

would anybody know why RS:Vegas is freezing on me in the middle of a online multiplayer game (attack and defend)? this is the second time today that ive been playing and it just freezes up and I cant do anything, I have to turn off my 360 and restart it up.

I don't know why so many people think this. Microsoft made it pretty clear, the Black pack went up for 800 points by accident. The Red Pack is not being refunded, it's similar to the map pack for Gears, free after a while (probably because it wasn't selling and it was not being played online), only without the advance notice.

HELP!

ok, i cant figure out whats going on. me and my friend are trying to play RS:Vegas together on some Xbox live ranked matches and we arent seeing the same rooms as each other. and we cant send Game Invites to each other. we even tryed making our own matches and still cant find or invite each other.

whats goin on? this makes no sense. im sort of a xbox noob, maybe im missing somethin simple

ALSO: dont know if it matters, but my rep shows 84% avoided me, possibly cuz my friend was talking alot of shit to people when he was using my xbox. but i still have a 5 star rating....

you can't send invites to ranked games because that would allow team stacking. if you guys are just trying to boost achievements, set the maximum players to 2 and choose Japanese as your language, then have your buddy search for those exact specifications (along with gametype) when looking for ranked matches.

if you guys are just trying to rank up, play player matches or terrorist hunts, you still get XP points.

and remember ranked matches are only good for one round, then you guys will have to set it up all over.

ok that explains a lil bit, but we would try to find the same server and we would both be seeing different named matches, we couldnt find the same name. and yesterday we had no problems. seems strange to me. we just wanna play in the same ranked match server without sending invites.

yeah, it can be difficult to get into the same ranked matches.

may I ask why you guys want to play ranked? I mean, there seems to always be more player matches available, and player matches let you play multiple rounds/maps without having to reinvite everyone. like I said, you still get XP in player matches. the only thing ranked matches are good for is getting on the leaderboards, and this game's been out so long there's really no point in trying to climb them.

I play Ranked Matches, only because I'm pretty sure you get about 2x as much XP. The only time I play player matches are on CAG nights.

Meh, T-Hunt isn't that fun IMO. Team Sharpshooter gains you about 1200 for 20 minutes, and as far as I'm concerned, gets you a lot of skill/experience compared to T-Hunt.

Meh, T-Hunt isn't that fun IMO. Team Sharpshooter gains you about 1200 for 20 minutes, and as far as I'm concerned, gets you a lot of skill/experience compared to T-Hunt. It really depends on who you play with. I could beat up on sergeants/privates all day. It gets really interesting when you have a room full of brass/silver rankings when you get to see how good you are. If you are interested I could invite you to one of my clans rooms if you don't mind the occasional joke or someone running around with a mac 11/ LMG for fun.

i still dont understand why me and friend dont see the same server names for ranked matches. why would we have different choices of servers and none of them match up?

I thought winning a 20 min match of Team Sharpshooter got you 1200 in player matches too? I could be wrong, but seems to me that's what I've noticed.
Realistic High T-Hunts are 600 XP per. If you play with some decent people, you can complete LVU Campus or Presido (sp?) in under 3 minutes.

Hey anyone here ever come across players they can't hear and that can't hear them ?

From time to time when playing Vegas I'll have people that I can't hear anything they say and they can't hear anything I say. And it always to the same people.

I've got my 360 DMZed and when I play other games with these people I can talk to them fine.

Just an odd little quirk I've been having since the game came out.

hey, anyone hear of this rank reset that's supposedly coming on Wednesday (Aug 1st.)? I hopped in to do some t-hunts and damn near everyone who was close to making Captain was saying they were trying to rank up because anything under Captain will be reset.

I realize rumors like this get started for no damn good reason and the internets (Live) spread them like wildfire, but I'm just curious if anyone has credible info.

the rumor is that they're adding new ranks between Captain and Elite, and more guns.

also tried the official site forums and there's nothing credible over there either, some people saying yes, some no, and no word from a dev or mod.

also, I'm thinking this rumor might have spawned from another rumor saying that the next patch update will boot anyone who glitched up to Elite back down to private (and wtf knows if that shit is credible).

These rumors seem to go around every month or so. I really cannot see them resetting the ranks people have worked hard to get. I can see them resetting the leaderboards though, but I'm not sure anyone pays much attention to those.

If UbiSoft are considering it, I'm not sure why. People are going to glitch and exploit to rank up in this game either way. If they reset the ranks, how many people are going to spend the time to rank up to elite legit again? Then you will have everyone trying to glitch to quickly regain what they lost.

I think it's highly unlikely to add anything between ranks, it'll just really piss off people between mjr and elite. If anything, I think the only logical way they could do it would be to add General ranks above Elite.

But ya, I agree, there's no need for more weapons, there are a ton already, and it's pretty balanced.

has anyone else who purchased the black map packs prior to them being free received a refund from MS yet? Black map pack came out on 6/26 its now been over a month that they have had time to refund me my 800 points. They are either delaying this because they don't know how to fix it and expect people to forget about it, or they are lazy as shit.

Microsoft had better not do this again in the future - It's almost theft. I gotta wait until September 4th before microsoft has passed their self imposed deadline to return me my points.

Since I can't find this any where, could somebody make a quick list of just the offline achievements for this game? I only ask because I heard that some of them that are detailed to be online can also be done offline but I'm not sure which and how many.

Did you try deleting the red and black map packs? I ran through all the games and it didn't unlock, so we deleted both map packs out, and the next game we played it unlocked the achievement.

Both tried it, it didn't work. It'll probably pop up randomly.

Yeah, I did all of them a few minutes ago to test out the tracer one for tonights Live group. They look pretty cool but nothing major. Third person view looks like when you watch someone else during a spawning period online and takes some time to get used to.

I absolutely loved RSV and thought the MP was awesome. Grabbed REV2 om launch and thought it was too soon for them to release a sequel. I may throw it in if I get time but part of me wants to hunt down the original for the MP (prefer that even to cod:mw)

I thought the run feature made it better in it self but yeah, the lost a lot in RSV2. With that said, it hasn't stopped me from playing it. Anyway, yeah I really feel an accomplishment getting though the T hunt especially in RSV1. It's so much better than being in a cluster fuck of a game w/nads across the map, tOOls, 12 yr old spawn killers.

Hit me up if you want to game it up.

The only game remotely being developed other than the Splinter Cell game I've heard of is Future Soldier (next in the GRAW series?), other than that I don't know what they are thinking.

It's depressing, but I hope Splinter Cell can hold me over at least a little.

I don't see how not having a R6 every 2 years is a bad thing. The quick turnaround development hurt R6V2 badly. It was still really fun, but contained most of the problems from the first game, such as the horrible frame rate, and created new ones. I'd love to see a polished Vegas 3, but I highly highly doubt we're going to see another R6 Vegas game.

Yeah I Pre-Ordered the next Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. Those games are pretty fun, but the single player portion of Ghost Recon didn't really get to me, it was the multiplayer. Splinter Cell worked both ways for me.

Anyways, yeah why Vegas? I mean the second one had enough of Vegas. I get my Vegas dose this fall with Fallout Vegas.

Played some Vegas 2 last night and DAMN is that game broken. Maybe it was a harder level, but it took me about 10 tries to hit the next checkpoint. I'll stick with it a bit more; when it's good, it's GOOD.

Online? It sounds like you were doing campaign though? The night I got on sucked for both RSV1 and 2... I did ok in 1 but I switched over to 2 and couldn't get anywhere... I died with around 6 kills in t hunt and I was playing with kids most of the time. Before it was more adults my age or a lot older. I dunno... I'm hoping Splinter Cell is really good.
