+ 1 for previous release.
I predict 8 below stays @ 1 and Pink Panther will be @ 2. I have no interest in either, if I see anything this weekend it will be Runnign Scared or Freedomland. There is crap @ the box office right now, IMO. V for Vendetta can't get here soon enough.

How many more movies can this dude make about himself dressing up as the same old, uppity black woman and her kin?!

Well, this is only the second, but considering how many plays are out there, we will be seeing this stuff for awhile.
I liked when the first one came out, Ebert gave it a thumbs down, so a group of people started writing him and calling him a racist. Little did they know he is married to a black woman. :)

Paul Walker sucks ass. I might not see a movie I was previously interested in just because he's in it.
Nothing for me this weekend.

When the Diary of a mad black woman came out they had like 4 others about Meadia. Im not sure if those are the plays you are talking about but they were on DVD. I just thought they were terrible movies so that why i never heard of them.

how the hell was big momma house 2 made.... didnt the first one flop... then again it probally only cost 100k to make so they just keep pushing out the crap along with 99% of the other films.
martin is a good actor (bad boys) but they been giving him crap roles

Well, his last 2 roles (BMH2 and Rebound) were more family oriented, not necessarily crap roles, but nothing id associate with Martin Lawrence. Personally id love to see him do a Nothing but Trouble sequel.

I like the idea of this thread. We could turn it into a weekly thing and make a contest out of it. See who can pick the most winners over a given amount of time.

You can't do a sequel. Tupac & John Candy are dead along with Chevy's career. :bouncy:

Doesnt sound like a bad idea, I can keep an eye on the winners with a public poll. So far, it seems CAGs think Running Scared is going to take the box office as of this post, I still have my money on Madea though.

Tstotsi and Night Watch are in very limited release, Running Scared doesn't have enough promotion or significance, so that leaves Doogal and Madea.
It'll most likely be Madea because of Tyler Perry's huge following in the South that'll flock right to it, but I could see Doogal also taking the lead, just because kid's movies and CGI are hot right now, and this one has some decent star power.
Madea's Family Reunion is going to be number one. Sadly.

I hadnt realized Pink Panther dropped to 3rd this last weekend, I think one of the newcomers is definitely going to top Eight Below.

Well, Friday's numbers are in, and it's fairly surprising:
MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION 10.5 10.5
EIGHT BELOW 4.0 33.3
DATE MOVIE 3.2 27.9
PINK PANTHER, THE 3.0 52.7
FIREWALL 1.8 32.4
FINAL DESTINATION 3 1.7 41.0
CURIOUS GEORGE 1.7 37.8
RUNNING SCARED 1.0 1.0
FREEDOMLAND .9 8.8
DOOGAL .9 .9
Doogal and Running Scared flopped hard, and Madea is doing even better than the first. Huh. Although it is traditional for family movies (Doogal) to do much, much better on Saturday than Friday, but it still won't do too well.

Oh, don't worry about me; it was a French film originally that they hired new voices for, so tons of people did small parts in it. I'm barely in it anyway (truthfully, I didn't even really think it was very good )

Yes, same basic thing they did with Hoodwinked. Are they ever going to do anything original or are they just going to buy out existing works and slap on a new coat of paint?
Yep, I understand you gotta pay the bills, hell I'd probably do crap like that too if it meant I didn't have to get out every night and search out mice to eat.

Recently people were accusing, brace yourself, Bryant Gumbel of being racist against white people because of his comments about the winter olympics.
But anyways, Madeas Family Reunion is by far the best movie i've seen in a while. This movie WILL have legs, it's that good.
Don't be fooled by the commercials with "Madea" acting a fool, this is mostly a serious style movie.

Why?
Date Movie appeals to the teenage crowd, I assume, and there are a ton of teenagers going to see the movies... this only makes sense.
Next week, I'll already throw down my prediction, Dave Chapelle's Block Party opens at #1.
FD3's acting was soooo bad it was laughable. If i wasnt with friends i wouldve been pissed. It was actually funny shit.

I thought Dave Chappelle's Block Party was going to be a limited release next week. I am really hoping my theater will get it though. But my prediction will have to be ultraviolet next week. :P

I would like it to be Ultraviolet, but since DC:BP is wide release, that is probably going to be #1.
edit: aww damnit Ultraviolet not to be screened for critics (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/click/movie-1157128/reviews.php?critic=all&sortby=default&page=1&rid=1486505)
