What's up everyone,
Has anyone checked out the auctions site at Ovestock (auctions.overstock.com)? I was looking at their video game game department and there is this seller who is starting pretty decent XBOX and PS2 games at $1 without a reserve price. Shipping is only $4.99. The department doesn't appear to have that much traffic, so a bargain could be had...
Check this out and give me your thoughts:
Seller ID: Mobilepc (search this on overstock.com auctions)
Link to his games: http://auctions.overstock.com/cgi-bin/auctions.cgi?PAGE=SEARCH&TYPE=4&BYSELL=mobilepc&CTG=29
He also has some decent deals on iPods and digital cameras, but those have a bunch of bids. Worth checking out though.

I wonder if you just happen to be MobilePC...

Why not name the topic "Selling my stuff on Overstock Auctions!" Instead of misleading us?

Can I get a big helping of :spam: with this post?

Too bad a few of those can be found really cheap used, shipping would kill those deals.

If they were new, they might be worth looking at. "He" doesn't actually specify whether they're new or used, which already seems shady (not that spamming your own auctions wasn't shady enough) and I can only assume they're used and hence, worthless.
Edit: Ah, I stand corrected it does mention they're used ("overstock or returns") down in the fine print.

Wow, this guy teaches eBay seminars (http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sellerprofiles/mobilepc.html) on sales. I wonder if the whole first hour is devoted to creating message board IDs to spam with.

even if it is spam, the guy posted in the right section and has some decent prices.
op, if it really is your own auction, you should've come right out and just posted them b/c it is allowed in this section of the forums.

Whoa there! You guys need to chill. I am a newbie here just trying to get some advice.
While I can see how my post looks like it might be from the seller, I am most definitely not MobilePC. A buddy of mine told me about this site and I just wanted to come and get some simple advice before I pulled the trigger on a purchase. After all, it does seem like a good deal to get a used game for $6 with a 90 day warranty. Thought everyone here would know what's up.
Thanks to those that did provide some useful feedback.

SuperMarioMelee,
The one that I have my eye on is the NCAA 2005 XBOX football game. You mentioned that I could get these games elsewhere for cheap - if so, where?
Thanks in advance.

No he didn't, it got moved here. He posted in the "Deals" forum specifically because he posed it as some great deal he "found".

Exactly. I would never do business with someone acting shady like that. Why wouldn't someone who's willing to lie about one thing to make a sale lie about others too?

Assuming you actually get them for $1 (which you can't count on) those are still only $1-3 more on EB/Gamestop (with the exception of Mario 64), which is a lot more reputable than some random auction spammer. As for Mario DS that's already got a bid so at least one other person knows what it's worth. No deals to be found there.

Damian,
Are you one of the MB guys that power trips all over the place? I don't even know who MobilePC is (other than on O-Auctions) and you are calling the guy out and dragging him through the mud. That is the type of thing that causes people to lose credibility. Moreover, kind of a d*%k move...
Bottom line is that I was trying to get some advice. Hope you can digest that.

Yes. PH34R M3!!11!!!
Are you one of those spammer types who reacts to getting caught with denials, threats and puffery? I guess we're even then.
But your thread is in the right place now, and attention has been called to you so at this point it's just caveat emptor so you can continue on your merry way with no more interference from me.

like i previously stated, it's a good deal if you ACTUALLY win them at that price. overstock auctions obviously has less bidders than ebay and it doesn't hurt to try and win with a low bid. you don't have proof that these are his auctions and i fail to see why you keep jumping to conclusions when the guy already explained himself. let it go, sheesh.
doraemonkerpal
ps. 1 to 3 dollar adds up when you're a CAG. you can't fault the guy for trying to save as much money as possible.

It just seems weird that he just joined today, and his first post just happened to be about some "random auctioneer" who has "good deals".
Its all a little too coincidental.

He's got titles ranging all over the place from Star Wars: KOTOR to GT3. I picked up GT3 from him a couple days ago and the game's already arrived.

hi roufuss, i don't doubt you. i've jumped on the bandwagon before. ;) i just stuck up for the guy b/c the prices were actually decent (considering you win it at a low auction price) and it was in the right forum (by the time i posted hehe). :)
