I just picked up one of these WWE plug n play games for $4.88 at the Fridley, MN/Northtown Mall location. Its a 2D based game for those who haven't seen it, normally sells for $20ish elsewhere. I don't know if it was just at this Wallyworld or if its nationwide but I thought I would give a little heads up.
I'll get a reciept scan up later today as I am at work right now.

Is it worth $4.88? I'm a big wrestling fan... but I'd hate to pay 5 bucks for one if it's crap and I know WWE/Jakks puts out a ton of crap...
How about a review when you get to tinkering with it?

BAM
I remember there was a time when I'd buy anything with the 'WWF' logo on it (before it became the WWE - screw Pandas!)

And it looks like you just got scorched (no offense to Scorch - its a general household term now).

Quick Review:
You can play as either Batistia, Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, JBL, Triple H, Eugene, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, John Cena, or Chris Benoit. Graphics are on par with a NES era game which are pretty nice crisp and clean for 8-bit level. Sound is on the same level. Sad to say don't expect to hear say Angle's theme in 8 bit level glory. Instead its a bunch of generic songs that you get to hear, and they aren't much to write home about.
Gameplay modes include Exhibition, Championship (for the WWE World Title), Tag Team (which has its own Exhibition mode or you can play to win the WWE Tag Titles), a Tournament mode to win a trophy, and a Survival mode to see how many people you can beat before you lose.
Gameplay is pretty simplistic once you get used to the controls (which are pretty easy and well laid out in the 2 page manual). This is pretty much a pick up and play game. There are three ranges of difficulty from Easy (so that way even Triple H Jr could beat his daddy in a few years) to Hard (so not even Jeff Jarrett on his best day could beat Triple H). Okay so I overexaggerated a bit on my examples but you get the idea.
There is some kind of plugin on one side which says "multiplayer" but the manual doesn't give a clue as to how that is used nor would I find any information on their website to figure out how it is used. Heck, there is no cable included for this feature either. I suspect that in the early stages of development they intended to have a multplayer feature for this but it got dropped after the designed of the unit was finalized.
Overall for $5ish its fun to play with. Its pretty simplistic enough to play for a quick 15 minute round yet I can easily imagine young kids enjoying it for hours on end. It is rated Everybody 10+ for Violence but realistically the level of Violence is along the level of the old NES Pro Wrestling game that Nintendo did.

I bought it, figuring 'what the hell.'
It's one of the worst games I've ever played in my life. And as a person who *loves* bad games, that's saying something. It has no entertainment value whatsoever. It's the only time, I swear to god, the only time I ever bought a game for $5 or under and thought afterwards that I was an idiot.

I think it's atrocious beyond belief. As a guy who runs a website that specializes in the WORST of wrestling, rest assured, I will be reviewing it very shortly. 8)

Neither did I. Wow THE RD Reynolds who co-wrote Death of WCW with none other than Super Chico. That's awesome that he's a CAG.
