So what is the rarest of the games you have ever seen? This is as rare as the NES Video Game Championship cart.
Remember the Blockbuster Championship II cart. for Sega Genesis?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8240230659
Reserve wasnt even met and it got $1400
I have the rom image.. but I wanted to know what is the rarest "single" game auction you have ever seen? If you have the link on EBay please share.

I'd still say that one Neo Geo game, don't know the name, but has sold on ebay for over $10,000 if I remember.

Kizuna Encounter?
Most expensive one I've seen recently was a sealed Final Fantasy III that went for $500...
Dr Mario Kart

That NES World Championship Cart was on sale on ebay around the time Miyamoto was visiting the Nintendo World store. I think it went for somewhere between $3-4K. I had this insane idea that I should buy one and then get him to sign it, thus creating a fat money cake.

When it comes to things that are really rare I think the signature would actually make the value go down.

I saw a NES World Championship cart with a BIN at $6,000 once, and it sold. I also spotted a complete Magical Chase (TG-16) with a BIN of $900, and that one probably sold, too. Finally, most recently I saw a complete Bubble Bath Babes (NES) in a no-reserve auction. It went for over $600.
It's all way out of my league... I have a good working knowledge of "rare" games from systems that are still alive and kicking today, but the most I've ever gotten for a game was $140 for Valkyrie Profile. The real rarities are far, far, far out of my reach. I'm just too much of a neophyte.

I've seen some atari games go for the 3-6k range. I may have seem some go higher, but I don't remember.

I've had that for years, paid 20 bucks from the nintendo power catalog. It's probably the centerpiece of my collection, if I have to have a centerpiece.
I also spotted a complete Magical Chase (TG-16) with a BIN of $900, and that one probably sold, too.
Those go for 3-400. I spent a long time trying to get one in the 200 range, never did. I did find one that went for 150 due to mispellings, but it was already over. And I saw one go for 50 BIN once.
If it goes for 900 then either there has been a very recent spike in the price, or an idiot who didn't know to wait bought it.

Well, there's a legend that there's one guy who has bid on every known copy of Magical Chase on Ebay. At times, he has bid the game over $500. This auction was presumptuous, but I can see how it could have sold, too. If a game is THAT rare, then some buyers will be willing to pay way too much just to get it at all costs, avoiding the cutthroat bidding wars.

Is Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle the game that loads in different languages depending on what region you are in? If that's the one, then I saw an auction go for $14K.
It was either that one or Art of Fighting 3.

I seriously doubt that, unless he has tons of different handles. Though I've seen it plenty of times. It's certainly rare, but it seems to show up too much to be deserving of the extreme rarity level. It normally shows up one, occasionally 2, times a month. Dynastic hero ($500) and sydmeads terra forming (don't know value) (others, such as godzilla, which is only worth 50-70, also seem to show up less than magical chase) seem to be the two most difficult ones to find on ebay. I've seen a few dynastic hero's lately, but it normally seems to pop up twice a year. I've never seen sydmeads on ebay, and the only place I've ever seen sell the u.s. version was telegames.co.uk, and that's where I got mine from.
Though I haven't paid as much attention in the past year or so, but I was constantly searching turbo stuff for years up until this last year.
edit: Suddenly there have been 2 copies of terra forming on ebay lately. One went for 150, other isn't over. Damn, and I searched for years on ebay and never saw one. Maybe it's partially due to ebay growing.

It's always amazing to see what's rare out there. I always thought the Nintendo World Champions cart were the most expensive, not rare, per se, but expensive. But I see now that there are more rare games out there. Let's face it though: today's games are just better, in terms of gameplay, interface, design, music, sounds, graphics...so why bother with collecting rare games that go for hundreds and thousands when you can play true masterpieces all for under $100? LoZ Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Chrono Trigger, etc...

Chrono Trigger complete will get you 100-200. Factory Sealed would you get you 2-3 times that.
I'd rather collect rarities and just buy used games (that arent classics) at game crazy.
