Not being a huge RPG fan, what's the big deal about this game. Is the gameplay like KOTOR, Zelda, or FF series. The hype is getting to me but dont know much about the game.

^^ the game is INSANELY open ended, and the places you can travel to are just vast, it's just one of those games where you just get immersed into for hundreds of hours, either questing or just messing around. at least that's how the past 3 elder's scroll games were. Think of Everquest but single player and fun. it's not like KOTOR, Zelda, or FF...at all.

Wicked.... though I'm picking up the CE on the PC rather than the 360.

Sounds good.
I meant fighting style, when I asked if its like KOTOR, Zelda or FF. Is it action, turnbased or whatever KOTOR style was called.

It's more action oriented but I didnt really like the style too much. I am definatly picking this up though (got in on the outpost error for $60 shipped CE). It's the first "must-have" 360 game thus far :)

oh i see, yeah the fighting style is real-time ish, with behind the scenes dice rolling, I THINK...im not a elder's scroll super junkie, but i think that's how it's done. Basically it feels real time. There's videos of a battle going on in the Oblivion thread. check it out.

For the PC, does the collectors edition come on a DVD?

Gotta love how the CE for the PC is only $59.99, too :D

I really like that Limited Edition art. Reminds me of the LotR dvd cases.

Although I have to admit, I'm getting sick of special editions. Most games should have type of the game, that would normally be considered 'special.'

awesome!

I've held off on buying a lot of new releases in the last 2+ months so that I can pick this game up.

I was worried, but now with GRAW and Oblivion, March is going to be a good month.

No dice rolling in this, except for probably if you set your options to automatic lockpicking. They really took Morrowinds combat system and said "hey this is not really appealing, lets change it so its more skill and action orientned".

See and that sounds boring to me. I really want to get this game and love it but I hate MMORPG's and games like that, they are just too boring for me.

About damn time this was announced. Everyone has assumed this was the date for the longest time and they would just never confirm it.

Like the above said, no more dice rolling to see if you hit. Hitting or not will be entirely based now on how good you are. Your attributes and weapons skills have been reworked to affect the damage your hit inflicts rather than wether or not you hit at all.

If Morrowind was any indication, this'll be a lot better than an MMORPG (which I also hate.) Things get done a hell of a lot faster in Elder Scrolls games, there's actually a storyline, and you don't have to deal with parties full of morons.

The only thing that Oblivion would have in common with a mmorpg is landmass..

You can piss away 200 hours in the game if you want to, exploring every nook and cranny of the world and doing all of the available side quests, guild quests, etc.

Or you can take the 25-30 hour main quest and be done with the game. I may never finish a game like this.. I completely ignored the main quest in Morrowind and never got around to finishing it.

Found out the answer myself, PC collectors edition ships on one DVD.
