smokescreen/bluff or is he telling the truth? I am leaning towards bluff.

http://www.1up.com/media?id=2379305 (http://www.1up.com/do/imageDisplay?id=2379305)Microsoft wants to see more massively multiplayer games on Xbox 360 (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148573#). Blizzard is the company behind the most successful MMO of all time, but despite fan pressure for a port, COO Paul Sams recently chatted with UK website MCV (http://www.mcvuk.com/newsitem.php?id=827) and said World of Warcraft (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=2015259) isn't in the cards for Xbox (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148573#) 360 right now.

"We do not have any plans to take WoW to Xbox 360," he says. "WoW is built as a PC gaming (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3148573#) experience. Porting PC games to console often compromises games, and we'd never allow the WoW gameplay experience to suffer."
On the other hand, Square Enix seems to have successfully ported Final Fantasy XI onto both PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, and many would argue the mechanics in that game are more complicated than anything in World of Warcraft. Still, most people would want to play without a keyboard, and that would require interface and gameplay changes.
Another problem is lies within the Xbox 360 architecture itself. Guild Wars developer Arena.Net recently expressed issues with all the power lying in Microsoft's court, a sentiment Blizzard appears to share. "Microsoft's Xbox Live architecture is very protected from all sorts of outside influence, so shared play between 360 and PC owners would be very tough," he says. "We wouldn't even consider WoW for 360 unless we could overcome that hurdle."
Electronic Arts made similar complaints during the early days of Xbox, though, and they managed to find a compromise - if Microsoft wants World of Warcraft bad enough, they'll find a way to make Blizzard happy. And, hey, maybe Blizzard's just throwing up a smoke screen for future console plans. Right now, though, they're keeping quiet. "I wouldn't say we have no console plans. Nothing is in place at the moment, but we may be looking at something along those lines in the future," he says."

Porting PC games to console often compromises games,

Then why did they make Starcraft 64?

Blizz is not porting this over. Get over it, they know where their fanbase is. 360 am cry.

Then why did they make Starcraft 64?

I was going to say that. Not to mention, their recent foray into consoles has been in development for nearly four years.

What good would a port WoW be in 5 years?

If they do make a WOW game for the consoles, I would bet it would be sooner then 5 years...the XNA should allow for easy ports of pc games to the 360. I understand why they want there own servers, but msft let EA have there own servers and the have been horrible.

Starcraft can be played with one button and a control pad. WoW is much more complex, its not even a fair comparison. Its why you didnt see Diablo 2 or Warcraft 3 for consoles: quality.

i was just thinking about a WoW port to 360, it would be horrible...I mean the voice chat would be annoying as fuck when you're in a major city, with everyone trying to sell shit. And even if you used a keyboard it would just be awkward having to let go of the controller everytime you wanted to type something as you're being chased, in dungeons fighting and stuff. Unless they give it Keyboard and mouse playability, which then I don't see the point about playing it on the 360 at that point...meh..

I don't mind if they stay away from the 360. It will help me from getting sucked into a time sink and neglecting the rest of the games out there.

Dungeons and Dragons Online will make it to X360 before WoW does. Just you watch...

On the other hand, Square Enix seems to have successfully ported Final Fantasy XI onto both PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, and many would argue the mechanics in that game are more complicated than anything in World of Warcraft.

The only flaw in this logic, is that FFXI was released for the PS2 first, then brought to the PC and now 360. Additionally, the limitations of the PS2 are holding SE back immensely when it comes to additional content for FFXI. On one hand, it would be great to see SE drop PS2 support of FFXI in order to really crank up the experience, but on the other it would cost them a large customer base... gotta love the double edged swords....

I rather play WoW and any MMORPG on my PC.

I still say it's because Blizzard is loving those $15 a month subscriptions too much. Didn't it just hit 6 Million users? 6,000,000 x $15 = $90,000,000
