Deepdiscount is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale with allegedly over 900 titles on sale here
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/promotion/buyAndGetFree_form.cfm?promoName=mgmb2g1_0306

I was wondering if anyone had an opportunity to wade through the crap and see if there is anything worthwhile. I simply do not have the motivation.

Looks like it's all MGM titles. Judging from their library, it's a whole lot of crap and some gems.

This looks similar to the deal they had a month or so ago. Maybe more titles this time around?

How am I suppose to search through all 900? Is it basically all MGM titles? I wonder if there are non-MGM titles.

It's an MGM sale. Mostly cheaper titles. Spaceballs, Magnificent Seven, good the bad and the ugly, hannibal, are all the 1 disc versions. Silence of the lambs is also Full Screen only as the widescreen version is out of print.

I agree with most of Lice's picks... had a few others I was interested in

Blue Velvet SE

Code 46
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=MGD007344

Shallow Grave

Saved

I picked up Blue Velvet, Shallow Grave and Platoon. Most of the others that would have been good ones I already had.

Blue Velvet is awesome...one of my favorite flicks.

Missing in Action has the best Chuck Norris scene of all time--

some random guerillas capture him, then hang him by his feet from a tree with his hands tied behind his back. They're interrogating him but he doesn't talk. So what do they do? They take a burlap sack with a huge rat in it and put it over Chuck's head for a minute. All the while you see chuck squirming and hear the rat screaming...then they stop. Then they take the bag off his head and the rat is dead in Chuck's mouth and his face is all bloodied up

Here are some others that might be decent picks, although I haven't seen all of them myself...

About 5 Pink Panther movies are in the sale, but you may want to get the boxed set instead...a little more expensive but you'll get a bonus disc.

A bunch of Woody Allen movies are in there including the "earlier, funnier" ones like Sleeper and Love and Death. However, these are even cheaper if you buy the boxed sets (4 of them with 21 movies averaging about $5.50 each). The front page of Deep Discount has a boxed set sale near the bottom, which is good until the 24th and has Woody Allen sets as well as the Robocop set.

Back to School - Rodney Dangerfield at his best

Die Another Day - Berry meets Bond in North Korea

Never Say Never Again - Connery's last Bond movie, and the only one that seems to be in print now besides DoD, since it was done by different producers than the rest of the Bond series...it must be making a lot of extra scratch off of Bond fans who can't find the other flicks

Leaving Las Vegas - unrated, uncut Best Picture winner, one of the only movies I've seen Elizabeth Shue in besides Karate Kid

Honeymoon in Vegas - Nick Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker comedy, one of the only movies I've seen Pat Morita in besides Karate Kids

Rob Roy - Liam Neeson middle ages flick, lot of people seem to put it up there with Braveheart for writing and action

Thelma and Louise SE - Ridley Scott in full feminist form

This is Spinal Tap - cult favorite comedy

Something Wild - a really cool, quirky '80s flick from Jonathan Demme, with Melanie Griffith in top form in more ways than one

The Package - Gene Hackman suspense flick from the director of The Fugitive

Heartbreakers SE - Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman, from the director of Romy and Michele's Highschool Reunion who is also a longtime producer on The Simpsons

Return of the Living Dead - '80s zombie flick directed by the writer of Alien, got thumbs up from Ebert, seems to be one of the better reviewed zombie movies out there, and it spawned a bunch of sequels...note that George Romero had nothing to do with the "Return" series

Man in the Moon - Reese Witherspoon's first movie, critically-acclaimed

Desperately Seeking Susan - Madonna's best movie? Of course that's not saying much...

Misery - one of the most popular Stephen King flicks

Valley Girl and The Sure Thing and The Flamingo Kid - '80s teen romantic comedies with Nick Cage, John Cusack, Matt Dillon, etc. that seem to be well-liked...funny how all the '80s actors still seem to be around but the actresses have been replaced with younger models

Also, both Bill and Ted's movies are in there...

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - Steve Martin and Michael Caine

Weekend at Bernie's

Escape from New York (non-SE)

No Way Out - Hackman/Costner thriller

To Live and Die in L.A. SE - Friedkin

Walking Tall - The Rock

Get Shorty

The Producers

Great Balls of Fire - Dennis Quaid

Blow Out - De Palma and Travolta

The Graduate

Last House on the Left

The Howling 1 and 2

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

The Great Escape

Some like it Hot SE and regular

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
