It worked for some CAG's, but I got turned down big time... they say "I had to return all three if I wanted to make a return, since the deal is Buy 2 Get 1 free, and not Buy 1 get 1 Free or Return 2 get 1 free.".
Though... it would be awesome if you could return 1, thereby making it buy 1 get 1...wouldn't mind Super Princess Peach and Pokemon Trozei.

I'd like to add that Bust a Move DS is really, really good. Even if you're sick of the game and its endless iterations, being able to use the stylus is fun and makes it feel completely new. Unexpectedly, it's one of my favorite DS games.

Does anyone know if the sale lets you get multiples of the same game?
I might get Super Princess Peach and two Pokemon Trozei's, and just Ebay one of the Trozei's to help with the total cost of it all.
Sadly, after doing some digging, I can't find out anything about a $10 off of $50 coupon.

It doesn't say anything about not allowing multiples of a single title, and personally, I wouldn't think it would be an issue.

I wish that I still had my coupon....but this was something that TRU sent out to customers in the mail. They mailed out a flyer that said to go to a specific TRU, and it was clear in this...and it said to give this coupon for "bonus coupons" to the customer service desk...and you got a sheet full of generic coupons for use only at that particular TRU. No fooling. Anyhow, these were given when their big Baby Sale began...as we used them for baby stuff. There were 3 maybe 4 coupons on the sheet. Some of you may want to ask at your customer service desks. I have 4 TRUs around me, and only one of them had coupons at the time and would accept them to boot.

The B2G1F DS game deal is worth going over the border for. Most of those games sell for $45-50 Canadian, which after tax works to about $155-172 Canadian or about $133-150 US for 3 games.

Also planning to possibly get Nanostray and Bust-a-Move, and definitely getting Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS in 2 weeks or so since my birthday is in 2 weeks which works out nicely.

Oh damn! Some good deals in there. Lately I've been checking the EB Morning updates for Bust-A-Move, so I'm feeling that 2 for $25 deal! The only other game I was vaguely interested in was Nanostray, but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be any good... since it's getting some love in here, though, I think I might go for it.
My better judgment says to hold off on the B2G1, but I might have to go for it. I've been intrigued by Trozei and Animal Crossing... so I guess it would be a toss up between Princess Peach and True Swing golf for the freebie. Any recommendations either way?

Awesome! Thanks for the info - I'll be making my way to the Amherst store early next week. On a side note - does anyone know if there is still anything worthwhile at the Niagara Falls location (with the big store closing clearance?) As long as I'm crossing the border, I'm thinking about hitting both stores.

Not worth full price, and not even worth getting for free, espically since Target has it for $14.98. You could do alot better... it's a weird game to throw on this sale, and I think TRU is using it to get rid of it.
Hell, just get a second Peach or Trozei and sell it on here or Ebay.

Well if you really can't decide you could always order MP Pinball off Newegg for $23 shipped and pick up the others here. If both games you pay for are $35 that works out to be about $25 a game with tax anyway.

Does anyone know if it's possible to grab 3 DS games on the current deal with the intent of exchanging one of them when Tetris and Metroid come out? I can understand the 'No Return' policy so no one is stealing their money, but even exhange on a game that just isn't out? Thoughts?
amusedtoe
03-11-2006, 04:49 PM
Hmm, not sure since I've never tried that unless it was a case of getting something free for one system to swap it for the other that they were out of. Even though it makes perfect sense to us I'd think only stores with very apathetic clerks would go for this since an exchange, especially on things like games, is usually on allowed for the same product. That's my best guess.

I tried this with the buy 2 get 1 free deal on regular console games in October, and TRU made a HUGE deal out of it. I really don't know why, but they made my life a living hell over it.

Yea, they threw that in my face too... since it was a $40 dollar game, I had to exchange it for EXACTLY a $40 dollar game... I couldn't even get a $50 one and pay the difference, which seemed absoulutely stupid to me.

03-12-2006, 12:03 AM
Guys, the reason why TRU gives you a hard time is simple. The b2g1f for tomorrow is being being paid for by Nintendo. Nintendo is taking the loss on these games. When you try to exchange the game for something else TRU takes the hit. If you look at most retailer ads the games that are on sale are mostly published by the same company. Retailers are not stupid. They are not eating the cost.....One last thing, starting in June TRU will no longer do any returns without a receipt.

I just stopped into my local TRU. There was no signage at all about this sale. But I grabbbed Nanostray and Bust-A-Move and they rang up for $25.65 including tax.

Well grabbed my three games earlier and here's an annoyance for ya, they refused to give me a gift reciept because of the nature of the sale. :P Still, even if I can sell Trozei for $15 or $20 on Ebay I'm not too bad off I guess.

$15 or $20? Trozei goes for at least $30.
They didn't give me gift receipts either.

It's just a shame Hunters isn't out for another two weeks so someone can try it. Still, will probably grab Trozei as my third game since I can keep it if I have to, but get gift reciepts and give it a go at the end of the month.
See this was my thought as well. I went today and bought 2 Peach's and metroid Pinball. The receipt showed that I bought 2 Peach games at 34.99 and Pinball was free. So if I return 1 Peach, I should be able to exchange it for another $35 game, right? I don't seek to rip off TRU and get extra freeness, just games I don't already own. Although that viewpoint is slightly different after considering the "Nintendo sponsors the sale to clear stock" theory.
Anyone else trying the same?

I went to my local TRU today. Everything was signed. I picked up Trozei, Peach and Mario Kart. Since i already have mario kart i will be exchanging it at a local EB since they will do it for me. Thanks OP probably would of never seen this because I rarely look through the TRU ad in the paper.

See in real person logic that would work, in store logic it's doubtful at best in my experience. As far as they're concerned that's really only a technicality to them and will give you what you payed for the cheapest game, which in this case is nothing, if they offer you anything at all. Ah well, just going to use what I get from Trozei for Hunters.

Either you haven't been to that TRU in some time or they're messing it up big time. Several months ago, ALL games that were green-tagged were to be removed and priced at a flat $9.98.
So, pretty much, the green tag sale no longer applies to games. Accessories, however, are still potential green tag items. If you can even find anything good. My TRU only has a few NGC starter kits, and a few PS2 2-speaker systems. More or less crap.
And yes, I can confirm that green tag is going to 90% this thursday. I managed to find several bikes in our store that got lost in the stockroom that are GT's. Needless to say, coming this thursday, I'm getting 2 26" bikes for ~$20. One was originally $135, the other $70. Just in time for warm weather. :D

Oh sweet, yesterdy my mom was all like "hey I got this in the mail, can you use this?" and she handed me that $10 off coupon. So now I'm just wondering, has anyone had problems using that coupon with this sale? It has the usual "cannot be combined with other offers" clause, but I'm assuming that would only rule out other coupons and that an advertised sale should be fine.

I could use the $5 coupon last time I got Nanostray and Bust-a-Move with the 2/$30.

I went to BB yesterday and they pricematched. My local BB no longer do FREE Item again instead mark it down $10 - $15 down for each items.
Super Princess Peach $35 -13 = $22
Mario Kart $35 - 12 = $23
Animal Crossing $35 - $10 = $25
I already had animal Crossing ... i may return/exchange it for Pokemon Puzzle.

Well I don't know about TRU but like BB usually won't take coupons or like the BB bucks from McDonalds or things like that towards a sale item unless you don't want the sale price and want it taken off the regular price.

Here was my plan. I wanted Nanostray and I didn't care about the other games. I would of sold Bust a move on ebay or on CAG if it was there. When I got there, one Nanostray was left and TRU had tons of copies of the other games with no Bust a Move.
I looked around for parents buying their kids DS games. I tried 3 times and no kid was interested in Monster Trucks or ATV Racing. So, I bought Nanostray and Texas Hold'em and will go back on Sunday when the sale is over and return Texas Hold'em for $12.50 unless someone on here desperately needs it. So $12.50 with $3 shipping for a brand new Texas Hold'em DS. Any takers?
No, thats what I thought.

My Toys R Us was out of Princess Peach. So while I saved $70-ish dollars by not buying the new DS games, I still kinda wish I could've gotten in on the deal. I'll just tell myself it wasn't a terribly good deal and wait for some individual sale prices instead.
I did pick up a Nanostray & Bust A Move combo, though.
Already have done the 2 for $25 on Bust a Move and Nanostray when they were 2 for $30 last year, but did the B2G1 today on Princess Peach, Trace Memory, and Pokemon and thought it was a great deal Thanks OP. Wish there were a couple other different games (other than what I didn't take since I already have them) because I really wanted True Swing Golf also.

You should Return or Exchange Trace Memory cuz it drop down $20 ish. Highly Recommanded exchange Metroid Prime: Hunters (its coming soon next week) ;)

Wait a second, say that again. I too got Super Princess Peach and Pokemon Trozei and Trace Memory (because I have the rest on the list), but would much rather have Metroid Prime Hunters. How do you go about exchanging them?

I got really lucky, and did this no problem. I had originally bought two Pokemon Trozei's, with Peach as the free game. I tried to ebay one of the Trozei's, it didn't sell, so I decided to exchange it at TRU this afternoon.
Took my receipt, told her I wanted to exchange it and get a different DS game, she told me to go pick one out and come back. I got Metroid Prime: Hunters, took it back, the lady rung it all up and did the exchange.
I think it helped that Pokemon Trozei wasn't the free one, as well. It was a very easy process, took about 5 minutes tops.
I am so gonna try that this week.

It doesn't even matter if a game is the free game when it comes to TRU. Before Christmas, I picked up BIA:EIB as my free game and when Battlefront came out, I took it back to be exchanged. The customer service agent didn't even care that it was the free game on the receipt(thanks to the green tag glitch), the promotion was no longer valid, or that the game she just got for me was the first one out of the box. At first, I was worried that she was checking with a manager but then I find out that they were still sorting out the boxes in the back and she had to go find it. It felt really good to walk out of the store with a free copy of Battlefront II

Yes, definitely trying to exchange Trace Memory. Nothing against it, just would rather have MP:H since it doesn't look like Fry's has a deal so far.
