View Full Version : What Specs Are Necessary For Star Wars: Empire At War and can they play on this rig?
Well, my other computer just blew up (actually broke and everything needs to be replaced basically, but i'm getting a new one anyway), but the computer i'm running on now is a 2.2 Ghz, 64 MB internal Graphics card, with 1.25 gig of ram. If i knew the specs for Star Wars, I imagine that i could probably figure it out, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

That should be fine. You've got plenty of RAM and the processor is fine. The only thing is that, while a 64 meg card should work at lower settings, those integrated video chips can be screwy sometimes. Do you know what kind it is?
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the game should work. You wouldn't be able to max it out, due to that integrated vid chip, but the game is still really fun.
Also, if at all possible (i.e., you're on broadband), try the demo, to see how it runs.

The graphics card is a 64MB NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX Integrated chip. It sounds like it should work on it, but i wasn't sure. Do you know the recommend or even the exact specs required?
Come to think of it, I may even be able to run the game from my laptop which has a faster processor at 2.8 Ghz, 1.25 Ram, and also an integrated 64MB chip which I believe is a radeon 9000 or so.

You internal videocard may not be able to do hardware T&L. You might want to do some research to make sure it can.
work yes, playable questionable.
Working and enjoying the playing experience are two differnt things.

i agree here.. wait til you get in a heated battle in both mp and single player... nothing like hicups every 2-3 seconds during a major battle.
also be on the look out when your in multiplayer for
Out of Sync Errors
some weird login errors in the middle of the game that claims you've been booted from the server.
Crash to desktop/reboot (this has only happened to me once each)
I say wait for the new patch and see what people say when it comes out this week.

What day is the patch supposed to come out? My friend who has similiar specs to mine says that he can run it on his computer, but that it will sometimes it will initially crash to the desktop or straight up reboot like you said, but then the game works totally fine even in heated battles (but he only plays single player). He believes though that the issue isn't so much his specs but something messed up in the settings of his computer, because he can run games like Guild Wars, City of Heroes, and the like totally fine. I plan on mostly playing multiplayer in a guild/LAN group that I'm in, but if I can't as you say and there are some definite hiccups that I guess I'll just have to pass on multiplayer. Single was really what I was after. But from the listed specs, I think that it should run and play totally fine.

hmm new patch hit today.... although it has some intresting changes...it did add new problems
as of right now 3/21/06 no one can really start a game :(
they increased build times of units
reduced mining credits :(
if you can get a MP game running, that 43 planet map, well it seems bugged :(
wait a few days.
