Miyamoto Confirms Twilight Princess Revolution Functionality
by Shawn White (03/15/06)
In a recent interview with Nintendo's European branch, Game Designer Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will have some degree of Revolution compatability.
"I would say that we are progressing well with completing [Twilight Princess]," Miyamoto said. "And one of the most important features is that, because Revolution can run GameCube software, when you play Twilight Princess on Revolution you can take advantage of the Revolution controller."
Miyamoto did not clarify how exactly the Revolution controller would be implemented in Twilight Princess. More details regarding the game will likely come forward in May at E3 2006.

there will be something so satisfying about swinging the controller around and killing Ganon

I don't really see how Rev functionality in this game can be anything more than minigames or what not. What are you going to do, switch between the GC shell regular controller on the fly mid-game?

Perhaps you'll turn it on/off at the beginning of the game much the same way progressive scan is enabled.

This could be cool, but i agree probably only in mini games.

Hopefully, you will be able to play TP with BOTH the GC controller and Rev without having to switch between the two.

Yeah, I don't know hwo this is going to play out.
Should be interesting, but probably not worth the delay. Hopefully it's not the only reason they delayed it.

I think the only way I could be convinced to not get a Revolution would be if Nintendo forced it to castrate Americans in an attempt to topple the US superpower.
And even then I'd have to think about it a long, hard time. No pun intended.

Cant put into words, how happy I am.
Zelda + New + Darker + 80 hours + Revo Functionality = :drool::bouncy:

What about the posibility, and this would explain the delay, of a special Revolution only dungeon? You would need the controller to progress through it. So, you could beat the game playing on the Cube, but you would get extra content on the Revolution? Maybe an alternate ending? That could certainly entice some fans to upgrade if TP is as memorable as we're all hoping it will be.

I'm just hoping that the Revolution functionality in Twilight Princess won't turn out be like how the Game Boy Advance function with the Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker. A function where it's not really needed to complete the game but makes dungeon exploring a little easier.

A little more info from the above quote (let the drooling continue):
"What is the best new idea that has been worked into the new Zelda?", Miyamoto replied with a smirk on his face, "You know that the Revolution also plays GameCube games? Well, in the case of Twilight Princess we are going to do something extra with that." When pressed further on the subject, Miyamoto chuckled and said, "Hmmm....one word: boomerang."

I agree. I'd have to think about it a mediocre length of time with a relatively average thickness......wait, what?

That sounds about right. I remember when Links Awakening DX came out and they had a special dungeon that required the GB Color. I'm sure there will be some areas that you cannot access with the 'cube unless you have the "wand" to open up a dungeon (Cast magic spells? Seal away some evil boss? Control the direction of the wind? :)

I can't say I'm surprised.
I look forward to seeing how the Revolution controller is used in TP.

Great. I can just see a million kids whinging their Rev controllers through their TV screens. It'll be a bigger debacle than the great Mario Party analog stick crisis!

actually. i dont like it one bit. not just for a boomerang. i either want full functionality or they should have released it already. it would be really annoying if the delay is just so you can throw a boomerang.

Well, obvoiusly they cut out the part where Shiggy said you get to play with Link's wang.
In both human and wolf modes.
See? Nothing to worry about.
Going for the trifecta...
Wang.

How so? It's playable on the cube. If they ended up just releasing it on the Rev, you'd have a point.

well if I only owned the cube, and couldn't afford/wanted a revolution, and they delayed this game so it will help move revolution system, I would be pissed. I like Nintendo first party games, but I am not as big of a fan of Nintendo as Sony/msft. Now a couple of my friends are die hard big n fans, they are not happy. They preordered this game a long time ago, with the thought of having it last holiday season. They will not be buying a revolution for a couple of years. He is not happy he paid for this game, and it appears it was delayed to incorporate revolution controller compatibility. Business desion wise, I think it is a great idea, to actually have a major system seller like a zelda title at launch. But I certainly understand my friends pain/anger that he preordered this game almost a year ago, and to him, it is only delayed to help move revolution titles.

Ahahaha, you just reminded me of the sound design project I did back in college where my friend and I re-dubbed an episode of the old Zelda cartoon.
Maybe I should toss it up on Youtube/Myspace....

That's pretty well unfounded. I can understand being upset that it's delayed, but upset that it's going to help move Revolutions? They's just selfish and dumb. You still get to play the game. If they would move the game exclusively to the Revolution, then there would be reason to moan about it. But this? There's none whatsoever.

Not to mention I doubt the delay was solely to add boomerang functionality for the Rev into the game.

so his opinion is not valid? He wanted this game last fall, not a year from now. Each unto his own, the guy is in his early 60's, and owns and still plays all Nintendo systems. He is the husband of one of my co workers, and he works for a gas company driving a truck around so his co worker can read the meters. He brings his DS with him where ever he goes, and he wasn't happy about it. People get pissed all the time on delay of games. Usually the excuse is that it wasn't finished/had to work out some bugs, not to make it functional with a next gen system. I understand your point that he may be being selfish, but it isn't an unfounded opinion that he can't bitch about.

His opinion is NOT valid unless Nintendo comes out and says the sole reason for delaying Zelda from last Fall by 1 year was to add Revolution support to it. That is the point people are trying to make. There is ample evidence that they delayed it to add more content, enhance gameplay, etc, for the STANDARD Gamecube gameplay. Yes, perhaps, they will throw a tidbit in for the Revo since it is delayed till its launch anyway, but I view that as incidental.
