Thought I'd get the blood boiling for diehard SONY supporters due to the news on a November 06' release. :rofl: If you've read any of my posts in reguards to system loyalty then you know I have none. This is all in good fun and I will be getting my own PS3 this fall. Also if you can't wait until November 06' I heard new shipments of 360's are arriving all over the country.:)

As far as I'm aware, the free live-ish service is basically rumored, the downloadable older games is basically rumored and the Blu-Ray player may well be their undoing according to multiple industry sources.

I'm planning on getting a PS3.. but don't buy into the Sony hype machine for the third time around.

Well, they said the basic online service will be free. I think it'll probably end up about the same as Live. 'Silver' is basic (free), 'Gold' is premium (pay). If I was a person deadset on getting the PS3 on launch, I'd be more worried about devs not getting final hardware until July. If you thought the 360 launch line up was bad, get ready for it to happen again.

... not sure why it sucks to be a fan of Sony. There was never any chance of a springtime launch in the US. Historically speaking, consoles have launched about 6 months earlier in Japan than they have in the US. Along with this, US launches usually occure in Q4 to bring in the big Christmas sales.

Yeah, and while I'm not a Sony "fanboy", my last two consoles have been Sony. Are they the be-all, end-all of console makers? No. They can certainly do wrong just like any other company can.
But it's a great time to be a Sony fan, imho--I'm replaying FFX-2, playing Dragon Quest VIII, Jak X, Suikoden Tactics, Lego Star Wars, my boy plays the Dora game; I haven't even opened SH: Covenant yet. All but two of those are Sony-exclusives--I'm fine with a delay, especially since the Spring release was only 'rumored' as wel, IIRC.

Ha, I actually got bashed by fanboys when I posted PS3 would come out by next year or end of year 2006 and that the games will be Blu-Ray and more expensive....but now everyone is like "oh I knew it wouldnt be here spring-time" and not one word about how all games are gonna be blu-ray....and they will be more expensive considering that 360 games arent Blu-ray and they are at 60 bucks each...I bet PS3 games will be $70 each or higher.....this thing is 3DO.....i swear...watch the "Blaze or Glory" that is PS3 as they go out guns firing as they fall. anyway, I never really thought that they would make the spring launch (especially in the US). No loss for me. I wasn't planning on getting the PS3 until MGS4 hit which probably won't be until 2007. It still is a great time to be a sony fan though. Out of all my current gen systems, PS2 looks the most promising this year. Aside from Zelda, all my purchases for this year will be for PS2. Just bought MGS3: subsistence, willl be getting: Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy XII, God of War 2, Okami so far.

I'm in no rush for a new console as I have a nice backlog of kick ass games just waiting to be played. The only console that is not released that I am excited about is Revolution, but can live with waiting a long time because I think the Gamecube is one of the best systems of all time.

For me there are certainly games that look 'worth playing' on both Xbox and 360 [although 360's launch titles were mostly lackluster, imho].
But it's a question of time and resources--do I want to spend the money right now on another console and the games or game rentals to enjoy it, or spend that money elsewhere? And do I have the time? Considering only electronics, half my dvd collection is unwatched, and I'm working on about 6 PS2 games, not to mention, there's real life to contend with.
If you're multiconsole, great. I never have been, I generally chose one and committed to it for at least a couple years. NES, SNES, Gen, 32x, CD, Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2.....????....Only the future will tell......

I can't stand first person shooters. I hated Goldeneye. Hated with a passion. My friends thought I was nuts. Those same friends now use the word Xbox to represent video games like Kleenex is used to represent, well, a Kleenex.

I waited in line for Xbox with a friend for over 8 hours. He currently has one game and has the entire time he has owned the system: Panzer Dragoon.

And only because I bought it for him as a birthday present. He does not pirate any games or download them as an alternative either. In the last few months he modded it and put XBMC on it to watch movies in his room. He still only has that one game, he doesn't even rent anymore.

So, I'm not the only one who has almost zero interest in any Xbox game, believe it. And he has not even mentioned Xbox 360 to me at all.

I'd have to agree with the FPS comment. At first, I thought that it was just the controls that I didn't like about console FPS games... then I realized that it was the games themselves -- console FPSes are really, really weak in general... there's typically absolutely no complexity to them whatsoever and the AI is usually stupid... they all feel bland and generic with very few exceptions.

Personally i think Sony has a real problem, if they have to delay the console. Besides candies for the mind (onlineplay) it occurs to me, that the console might be delayed because of copyrightprotection issues and blueray. Unless you a diehard fan of Sony, you may already forgiven Sony for their rootkit.
I would not be supprised, if we see another delay.

My Xbox broke almost two years ago... I never once felt the need to ever replace my Xbox. The games I really liked on Xbox or haven't yet tried, I replaced on PS2 (Metal Arms, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance) for extremely cheap, and sold the Xbox one to break even (or hell, even make more money).

Sure, I'd love to play Ninja Gaiden, but is it worth $150 for me? Not really. I played most of the Xbox exclusives, and I really found them lacking, and like you said, if you own a PC the list gets even smaller, espically for the 360.

I just sold an entire collection of 55 Xbox games and never once regretted it.

Now all those against my OP might argue that this is an equivalent translation because of the context and it is meant to be humorous. If so you are basically supporting/agreeing to that which you've attacked throughout this post. u.s folks expected it about 6 months after japan which would of been around nov/dec 06.

So its right on track for me here living in the states expecting it for nov/dec 06.

I would be a little pissed off if i lived in japan and just found out now we have to wait 6 more months before the release but im sure it will be well worth it.

Im still guessing at a 399.99 price point as well. with just 1 version of the console all of them with a 60gig HDD. thats my hope.

Kudos to Nintendo for taking a chance on the controller. I think Nintendo has a really good chance of being the underdog that is going to take a big bite out of the other two. They are the only one of the three that is trying to do something innovative. I am sure the PS3 will be good but I am not that excited about it(I will probably eventually get one, not on launch though).

Sony machines aren't "hype" machines. They are the best game consoles without a doubt. Almost half of my gaming collection comes from a Sony platform.

Anyway, I could have waited until 07 for PS3. The PS2 continues to dominate all current generation consoles and it still has many terrific games coming and being announced. I'm not as excited about PS3 as I should be, all because of the PS2 and PSP.

Wheres your smilies? I ant tell when you are being sarcastic!The smilies are a little strange for me here. They're not selectable at all, so normally I just do what I do on other forums for smilies. Sometimes they work here, sometimes they don't; therefore, I rarely use them.

Well, I was being a tad sarcastic acting like a fanboy, but there's no denying the Playstation consoles, and now handheld, have become my favorite gaming platforms. I do buy most all platforms, regardless to who's making it, but they normally just don't do anywhere near as well as my Playstation consoles/handhelds, even when I'm trying hard to like my other platforms just as much.

Sony: Expensive system could make or break the company. Almost nothing else revealed with release time coming up fast.

Nintendo: LOL! Itz caled the Wii, like, 4 peeing. The C0ntrola lo0ks like a c0ck!!! ROFLOBSTER!!! (Not saying anything myself, but good luck convincing stubborn trolls its a good system with brilliant observations like that)
