View Full Version : So Conker Live & Reloaded is an exact remake/update of Bad Fur Day?

I was searching for some copies on CAG trading and I kept coming across people placing Conker's Bad Fur Day under the XBOX category. I went to read some reviews (never played either game) and it says they are the same.
So if both are the same, have similar ratings (why does BFD have higher? It was better back then?), is it just better and cheaper to get Live and Reloaded?
Or is the classic clearly better? In what ways? Persuade me to buy whichever one. Thanks

Buy the new one, its barely different (except multiplayer) and doesn't give you a headache.

Thanks! So I guess the classic one is expensive (for a N64 game) because it is a collectable (guessing?). Got cha.

The controls are sooooooooooooo much better on the xbox. They still aren't intuitive, however.

I much prefered the original to L&R.
-It was stupid in the platforming parts that you had to manually take out your weapon before attacking (press B in the XBOX one to ready your bat then R to attack, just press B to whack with the frying pan in the N64 one).
-The shooting parts were far too easy in the XBOX one despite hordes of guys (which I didn't like anyway).
-Conker looks much better wearing a sweatshirt throughout the game, instead of Van Helsing clothes (which had absolutely no explanation for), and army clothes later (he just had a helmet in the original).
-Also the Tediz look better without army clothes as well.
-The multiplayer is horribly repititive and pretty standard in the XBOX one, it's unique and very fun in the N64 one (with many more game types as well).
-There are often ugly looking load screens in the XBOX one (which are themed after the multiplayer despite only appearing in singleplayer), none in the original (cartridge vs. DVD).
-Dual Uzis are much cooler than a MP40 (the weapons used in the war chapter).
I may add more later.
I remember the multiplayer being better on the old Conker...

Usually if a company releases the exact same game a year or 2 later then it will get worse reviews because people expect more.
Do rehashes of the same game ever get better reviews than the original? Not talking about sequels, just when they rerelease the same game.

Super Mario All-Stars got better reviews than the originals IIRC.

Uhhh....okay, so the jury hasn't decided, I guess. I'm still waiting for opinions and suggestions to keep them coming. Still haven't decided but now, I feel like I'm leaning towards N64 version just for the nostalgia/collection factor.

I bought the N64 version but this was before Live and Reloaded was released. I was pretty excited about a new conker game until I heard it was the same as the N64 version.
I've only played the N64 version and it was hilarious and fun. You can't go wrong with it.

Just wait till you get to the point where you have tyo use a gun in the game. It is horrible in the n64 version. Go with the xbox. I loved the game but would suggest buying a guide if you want to play it all the way thru.

If you don't plan on playing Multiplayer go with the Xbox version, It just looks nicer and you can easily find the game for under $20 now thou I would really just recommend renting it cause it has very little replay value. If you are looking to play it with friends then go with the N64 version. The Xbox multiplayer totally sucks, I still can't understand why they removed the N64 multiplayer and replaced it with this new god awful version.

Good Luck without a guide.
Its not that hard to play it without one, Infact this is a game that really doesn't need a guide.

I heard that you can choose to unlock some parts that were censored in the xbox version so that it's exactly like the N64. Other then that I think the differences are superficial. Clothes, slightly different weapons.
I say for the graphics the Xbox. for the no load times inherent in cart games the N64.

you cant unlock the censored parts. And the multiplayer is way different between the two. The xbox's multiplayer is horrible, while the N64's is great.

Yes yes you can unlock it. Quite a few Reviews even said you could. Go to gamefaqs and check that out as well.
