Yeah it's in the Sunday Ad.
It isn't a picture of the 360 version, nor does it say Xbox next to the price, so it might be hard to PM it. It's got to be the Xbox one though, since they list PC and Xbox Collect. Ed. The picture looks like it's the guide.

I think that's just a matter of impossibility. You can't finish the game, you just give up eventually. Now if someone did manage to I think it would trigger a scene like in that Simpsons where they fall asleep in church, dream bible stories and when they wake up and go outside it's all end of the worldy.
I'm just shocked it's acctually coming out.

Thanks Konga, I'll have to make a trip up there Sunday to pick up the ad because my paper doesn't get it.
And you're right, they might give a little bit of a problem, but once you point out the PC version is listed too, everything should be ok.
Well, Circuit City SHOULD call CompUSA before they PM it, and they'll tell them over the phone its for the 360. Couldn't hurt to at least try.
seanr1221
03-18-2006, 03:55 PM
Oh I'd be dumb not to try. After the extra 10% off it's like I'm getting the game for 20.00 off MSRP.

Unless you are going to be by Comp USA this weekend anyways, why not just go buy it there when it comes out? By going tomorrow to get the ad, and PM it at CCity, you are saving $1.50 with the PM, after time and gas and two trips, it might be worth just going to comp usa the day it comes out and buying it there?

After seeing the ad itself, it looks like this will be the second week I'll have a tough time getting a price match. The picture next to the $45 price looks like the PC game and nowhere mentions Xbox 360. I guess its easier this time since the website here: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=334659&pfp=SEARCH shows it is indeed the 360 version. So if any customer service reps are in doubt, just tell em to check the site.
EDIT: And now I noticed if you click on the game in their online store ad, it links you to Oblivion CE for PC at $45. So don't let the employee check it that way. I'm guessing what the ad means is any version of Oblivion for $60 is now $45.

Well best buy makes it sound as good as crcuit city BUT they have fine print.. So they will price match if you havent bought the game but not do the 10% if you arelady bought it and then find it cheaper then they will match plus 10% of the difference.
So yes and No. Give Circuit City your business if you can.

they don't have the PC CE of oblivion on the website? also, the page for the PC version has a picture of the CE, but it doesn't state that it is, making me think it's probably just the wrong picture they're showing, and you'd get the regular edition...

It came in an e-mail I got from them today with my updated standings in the contest.
The game is called "CompUSA Bracket Breaker game". It's a legit coupon and there shouldn't be an issue with them taking it despite the lack of a barcode.
Here's another link of an earlier version I got when initially registering:

I was interested in some $5 games they have on clearance. It would be good to be able to use the coupon on a combined purchase of $25 or more.

How do you price match it after you bought it at Best Buy?
Oh, and i called Compusa twice this morning, to see if they had the game in, both times they said no, the first time he said to call back at 3:00. So I talk to to them at 3:00 and he tells me it is all sold out and that they have had the game since they opened the doors this morning. And I only have one compusa in the area. Arghghghgh. That is so frustrating. Are there any places that price match without calling the store to check if it is in stock.

I got lucky. I called CompUSA around 11 and the lady held the copy for me. Before I picked it up I was looking around the games and they didnt even have a display copy out. Not to rub it in but the game is amazing thus far, it seems to be more "straight forward" than Morrowind did. So far I don't feel LOST at all but I do have a TON of freedom, the game is beautiful. Try price matching Sears (if they even carry the game). When I worked there we never called to see if the item was in stock.

The stores in Houston got them, about 4 copies. Thing is, CompUSA really isn't huge on Videogames and probably did not expect much of a demand - sad but true. Also the thing with calling them for instock status is that if they received it that day the item won't show up in their system until the next day, so when you called and the cahsier said they didn't have them in stock - they probably did have it.

With the exception of checking inventory I had a similar incident. The guy working there blatantly told me, "well we usually don't get the game until well after it comes out because when you get the game is based on how much Microsoft likes you. Its usually about a week after the release that we get new games in" So then I asked him "Well what's the point of advertising it in the release week?" His reply, "Well this ad is printed up 6 weeks in advance" Well that makes a lot of fucking sense.
That's alright though, I also just went to circuit city and pricematched it there.

No, if you went to CC to pricematch you would pay 44.99 minus an additional 10% the difference of $15 which is 1.50. The game would cost you 43.49 + tax. If you went to compusa it would be 44.99 minus the $5 dollar coupon so it would be 39.99 + tax.

I got blocked at Best Buy last night for a price match. The girl called 2 CompUSA's in the Pittsburgh Area and neither had it in stock <go figure>. I asked "Why does it matter if they have it in stock? If I don't buy it here, I'm just gonna get it there tomorrow. And if they don't have it in stock I'll get a raincheck." She asked the Customer Service Nazi and SHE said "No game for you!" Bullshit.
Anyway, I trekked to CompUSA this afternoon. They had none in stock <go figure> Only got 2 in the initial shipment <no shit>. So I got a raincheck.
Decided to go across the street to Cirrcuit City and try a pricematch. Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Circuit City pricematched without calling for "IN STOCK STATUS" <bullshit policy IMHO> and I got the extra 10% off the difference.
Thanks Circuit City....You Rock!

Regarding the raincheck at CompUSA, I basically had to ask for it several times.
Me: Can I get a raincheck?
CS Manager: Wellllll.....we aren't sure when we're gonna get them in.
Me: So, can I get a raincheck?
CS Manager: Wellllll.....It may be a while until we get them.
Me: That's fine, I can wait.
CS Manager: Wellllll.....okay, if you don't mind waiting.
And that was the abridged version. Christ, it was like pulling teeth.

First they claimed it was for the PC version even though the ad says the PC version is only $39.99, then they said the price of the game was $69.99 at CompUSA so I actually saved money by buying it at Best Buy, (what are they smoking?) I told them that was for the CE edition and I had the webpage printout showing the XBOX 360 version was $44.99. The said that it was not a real "ad". I just left cause I knew they weren't going to pricematch after all the excuse they were giving me.
I guess I will just try PMing at Circuit City or swing by CompUSA on Thurs to see if they get more copies in.

Most Best Buy's seem to have a stick up their ass when it comes to price matching. I'd definetly try Circuit City.

That's another reason I'm hoping that CompUSA will have it back in stock before the sale ends; to NOT give Best Buy the business.
They're all evil to varying degrees, but Best Buy really tends to bring the 'tude when it comes to Customer Service issues, don't they?
EDIT: Of course, by extension, here's a question I posed in another thread:
My question is: What are the chances that the CompUSA site will 'restock' sometime before this pricepoint ends? And if so, when? Tomorrow (Thursday)? Friday?
Anyone with any solid info/speculation? Any tendencies for CompUSA during non-holiday weeks? I almost never shop there.

I never have anything but problems with my local best buy. The absolute worst was one time when they flat out lied to me. I had a BB gift card I wanted to use and Guild Wars was on sale at Circuit City so I stopped by Circuit City to grab an ad to pricematch at Best Buy. When I stopped at Circuit City I went in and checked to make sure CC had the game in stock, sure enough they had about half a dozen copies.
I went straight over to BB from there and attempted to price match. The guy walks away to call and verify that they had it in stock and when he comes back he tells me they were out. I told him I was just there and there they had at least half a dozen copies but he refused to price match because they were out. Now, I understand its possible that Circuit City lied to him on the phone but why would they? If the person didn't want to be bothered with having to go chek for it at Circuit City, chances are they would just say it was in stock. I finally just said "fine I don't want the game then, but you and I both know your lying to me."

The Best Buys around me have never called another store to check if an item was in stock on a price match. They just make sure you showing them a legit advertisement.

I know this is a CompUSA thread but I HATE bestbuy!
The worst thing they ever did was to force my sister to return 1 cent game guide she had already paid for as she was leaving the store. Most Best buys check you receipt at the door and when they did they claimed that it was a price mistake and told her to return the items, this was during the Xmas season and the store was packed, it was very embarrassing for my sister to be treated like a criminal in front of all those people.
We complained to the store, best buy corporate, BBB, but nothing came of it.

I just walked into the CompUSA at City of Industry and grabbed the last copy. :)
One thing that is strange is that in the 2 CompUSAs I've visited they have had the 360 stuff away from the regular games. I actually had to search for the 360 stuff which was off by itself with its own kiosk.

Well, for the SECOND time in as many days, the CompUSA site had Oblivion go from "Coming Soon" to "Sold Out!" while I blinked, apparently. No, I haven't been obsessively refreshing the page, but I have checked it pretty religiously during my waking hours. Did they EVER have it available online? Did anyone luck out and get it from compusa.com? Anybody? Anyone?? Bueller? If they did technically have it available, what was their warehouse allotment each time, a dozen?
Looks like I'm most likely going to have to 'cave' and get it at Best Buy tomorrow. At least I'll get double Reward Zone points for it. To facetiously quote Jake Lloyd, "Yippee!!"

best buy gave me shit for price matching today. I waited for like 20 minutes while this lady got her manager and asked her and all this B.S. only to decline me in the end. The lady had the nerve to ask me if I still wanted the game after she declined me. I told them there was no way I would ever give money to a company with such terrible customer service. I went over to wal-mart and got it price matched without any problem at all. Then went to the wal-mart closer to me and price matched again and picked up a copy for my brother as well.
If anyone has a wal-mart near them grab your compusa ad and print out the compusa website page for oblivion as well since the ad is a little confusing and walmart will price match easily.

Does compusa have ads in store? The nearest is at least 15miles away, I dont have the compusa ad so I guess I need to pick up the ad and attempt a pricematch.
Or do you think a store will accept the website printout?

I picked up my copy at the CompUsa in Norfolk today. There were several left when I got mine. The website said "coming soon" so I figured I'd just go and check if they had any. They were just sitting right there on the shelf with all the other games. Figured I'd hear trumpets blaring or SOMETHING, but no....haha...
I also needed a DVD drive for my pc, and picked up a DVD-RW drive for a sweet $29.99 while I was there! Had to search for the stock, but finally a cashier helped me locate one that wasn't where it should've been.
Hope my pc doesn't melt trying to play it!
Later...

CompUSA was out of stock when I went. I tried to pricematch at CC with a printout of the web ad and they were going to until they called CompUSA and found out they were out of stock. I then went to Fry's in Irving, which had it on sale for $47.99. I showed the manager the web ad and he not only pricematched, he changed the price in the system to $44.99. Enjoy for any CAGs around the Irving area.

I was in Irving last night and my friend got it for $44.99 without any adjustment...hmmm...must have been a pre-sale sale. :P
Wish I had the change for that nonetheless. :S
EDIT: Of course, we were there late, and I just saw your post in the Fry's thread, so that might explain it! ;)

Yeah, I had no problems price matching Oblivion at my Best Buy, in fact they only had the CE for the PC left and I was able to get them to PM that for $39.99 hah. It was sweet, the lady was really cool about it and didn't even ask a thing, just looked at the price, changed it, and I was out.

Same here. Even funnier was the fact that we didn't see a 360 section...we saw the kiosk, but no games or accessories. Then we noticed it was on the completely opposite side of the store. This CompUSA is a joke.

I tried to PM @ BB and guess what? They said I couldn't use the weekly circular that I got from the website even though its the same as in store....they said I had to have the exact same one as at CompUSA even though I explained to her that
A. Ive doen this here before
B. You can go online yourself and verify that its simply a scanned and printed version of t he instore circular a mile away
Tomorrow ill either buy ES4 at CompUSA, get the flyer and go to BB, or just take the printed circular and go to CC or another BB

Coming soon?

This game apparently sells out almost instantly when it's listed on compusa.com. I signed up to be notified via email when it was available for order. I checked my email earlier this afternoon, saw the 'product available' email, clicked the link inside..."Sold Out!" It has gone from "Coming Soon" to "Sold Out!" at least three times since release.
Knowing how unlikely I was to get the game at this price, I just went to Best Buy yesterday and bought it, using my $5 Rewards Zone certificate and 'double points' coupon to make the purchase a little better. Haven't opened it up, though. And no, I wasn't going to bother the price match ordeal, seeing as how I probably would've waited 10-20 minutes for a 50/50 chance of actually saving the money. Based on the reviews so far, there aren't many other games around that give you as much to do for your money, so even the full MSRP is probably pretty fair here.
