Giving someone $5.00 credit and then charging $30 will do that kind of thing.

more stores, don't they have a shitload of them now with the gamestops and ebs...there is 10 of them within 20 min of my work and I don't live in/near a major city.

Yeah. They are everywhere now. You can't drive down a major street without seeing one or the other.

It depends. Back in NY and PA there were few times where you could go more than five miles without running into a GS or an EB. However, in IN, if the local EB doesn't have anything it's usually a good 30 to 60 miles to the next EB or GS around.
The upside, however, is that there are plenty of insanely well-stocked GameCrazy locations and GameRush locations around here, unlike back at home. Hurrah.

I wonder if some "new" stores could be converted EBs?

Well, I'm really starting to dislike Gamestop because there are too many around me. I have like 4 Gamestops and 2 EB's within 4 miles of my house. They just openned another one a couple of weeks ago. They have sucky trade-in deals and I only go in one when they are having a sale or trade-in deal that is actually worth it.

it also doesn't hurt that they only pay their employees $6.50 an hour and demand that they sell subs, get reserves or they lose their job.

Looks like they're back on top.
1600 new stores though? Damn.
I wouldn't mind a Gamestop here. We have two EB's.

There all going to be Gamestops now anyway. All the EB's names should be changed before years end.

I worked for GS when I was in the Seattle area, and I never really had any problems with the company until the end (of course!). They paid me about $9.00/hr. (I was in college so it was fine), and I never really felt like I was in trouble of losing my job when I wasn't selling subs/reserves. Different stores obviously have different conditions, but I can only speak from personal experience. And damn, yeah that is a big increase in their earnings...Question though, could this be due to the EB acquisition? I mean, if they were counting the earnings from EB and GS during the 4th quarter, then obviously there would be a much higher number. But I'm not an expert on these things, so I might just be completely off there...

$6.50?! I only made $5.35, and was promised (repeatedly) I'd go up to $6 "soon". It never happened.

This is damn ridiculous.
1,600 more stores, 32 per state. You can pretty much assume Alaska, Hawaii, the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and other states aren't going to get even 3 more so that jumps to like 50 per state.
I have 3 within 5 minutes of me and 5 within 10 minutes of me. How many more Gamestop's do there need to be?
BTW, their margins are absolutely horrible. $86 million is paltry compared to their gross revenues.

They started that here... they closed one store in the area, but have now opened three more to take its place.
Surpringsly, all of them have shitty stock and the rare games never seem to be there. ZING!

I don't have an EB or GS within a 100 mile radius. I wish this would mean we'd get one close, but makes no difference to me now.

They prolly going to bring more gamestop to NYC since our city is vastly overpopulated. There is over 50 eb and gamestop right now in less than 10 miles radius.I don't understand why we need more gamestop within a few streets? Soon the eb and gamestop might be equal to McDonald stores on 1:1 ratio.

Where do you live? I probably have 100 in a 100 mile radius.
