very sexy, but looking at the back of the system, I dont see where a seperate audio out is, so how am i supposed to use my component cable and the rca for sound at the same time?

not sure if you've kept up on the latest, but Rev's not supposed to have component cable out.
i'm sure it will use the same cable as n64, snes and cube for video/sound

but it is supposed to support progressive scan and 480p which requires component cables

No Ethernet port? I hope that they have some sort of Ethernet USB adaptor, since we don't have a wireless router.

So not only are they not putting in high def but there's no optical audio output for dolby surround?

there will be no ethernet port on the revolution. Nintendo has stated this. it will be WiFi out the box!!!!

and i also believe IGN speculated that the revolution will indeed not use the same cord as n64 & gamecube. ill have to search for the link

Can I have one now?

These can't be the final production models, especially considering Nintendo promised at least 480p/prog scan and surround capability. Regardless, the system istelf is sexy, and that blue light is fucking uber future Logans Run Soylent Green Blade Runner boner-inducing.

I just checked the back of my GC and the AV Digital Out looks exactly the same on the GC as it does on the Rev. Having no separate audio port on the back is perplexing. I guess they are going to combine it all into one connection this time.

That is what the Xbox 360 does and it has digital audio. Also, it does have wifi built in as another CAG'er mentioned so I see no reason this is not the final design.

^I do want to point out that I do only see the vents in back and that is it. Heating issues?

This could be the first system I got at launch since the N64...

It sounds so worth the price!

Jesh, that's a sweet looking console. Have not picked a 360 yet ( I will), but I will definitely pick up a Revo at launch.

I'm not a huge fan of wifi so hopefully their will be a cheap adapter for the Rev.

Yeah, the wireless signal seems to crap out in my room a lot, so I'm hoping there will be some way to use a cable.

Regarding the vid-out on the Rev, I don't think it will be the same as the GCN... a couple days ago Nintendo Gal posted a link (http://www.nintendogal.com/index.php?/archives/888-No-More-Component-Cables.html#trackbacks) to a source who claims that the component cables are no longer being produced.

so its not going to be a square? And can you lay it down horizontally?

So if the lighted strip is for the game disks, then what is the door looking panel between the power & reset button? I'm not sure that the huge blue strip would properly accept the gamecube disks unless the strip is larger than the slot it is illuminating.

I was thinking the same thing, that little slot might be for GC discs, but I dunno if they'd do that or just have you put it in the middle of the regular-sized slot. I also see (that I didn't notice before) that they redid the two bottom buttons on the remote to be X and Y with a and b written the other way around (for NES I assume). So it potentially has 6 buttons with the analog although it would be hard to use all 6 at once.

EDIT: I was just thinking and that is probably a door for memory card slots (SD cards I think it uses) unless those are with the gamecube controller ports on the top.

so its not going to be a square? And can you lay it down horizontally?

I'm pretty sure Matt C. at IGN said the video outs were different on the GC/Revo... so you can't use your GC component cables with the Revo. And if you could, you'd need a seperate audio out which as others have already pointed out, isn't there. And yes, the Revo can sit horizontally or vertically (it uses the stand for only when it's standing vertically).

So if the lighted strip is for the game disks, then what is the door looking panel between the power & reset button? I'm not sure that the huge blue strip would properly accept the gamecube disks unless the strip is larger than the slot it is illuminating.

The little area underneed the slot loading drive (the blue light area- capable of taking in Revo and GC discs) is for the flash memory currently. There are people saying that there's more to it there but nobody knows for sure as Nintendo has yet to release a picture of the system with that area revealed.

Note this about the audio, Dolby ProLogic II surround is sent via stereo connections (red and white) but it is indeed 5.1 surround sound (meaning it supports 5 sperate speakers plus sub) if you have a receiver capable of DPLII. It's not a digital format like DD5.1, DTS, etc. The GC has DPLII and was very capable at delivering 5.1, just not digital music. The advantage to this is that DPLII uses a lot less space on the disc compared to other digital formats but esentially developers can use a higher bitrate for better quality if they wish (though they won't come close to digital).
