I am creating a gaming site where i will need people to review games, help with game news, walkthroughs, cheats and so on. Anyone who can help with those or can help with website coding ill really appreciate your help.

Of course, that's fine when you want people to write for you... those are a dime a dozen.
Coders on the other hand, you don't want to mess around with... treat them unfairly and they'll "accidentally" place a security hole on your site.

Akkis, it's nothing against you, but you have to understand that unless you plan to deal with either high schoolers or college students, than anyone who does programming for a living or has a skillset that transfers over to programming and configuring hardware to set up a website won't even lift a finger for less than 10-15 dollars an hour.

Considering that most of the people with those skill sets are working, and putting in a good forty hours a week, they aren't likely to give up thier scant few hours of free time for nothing..

Even out of work programmers and IT people are often better served spending thier hours scanning job sites rather than helping asking for help for their website.

Of course, if you could lay out a plan, talk about some sort of compensation, anything, rather that just whine when people get negative, you'd be more likely to get help.

Good people with high skill levels aren't going to come running when someone says "Oh, cool, I want a videogame website! Come help me now and I'll give you credit in the future.

Of course, talking down to or generally chastising the base from which you wanted to draw help isn't good either.

I'd suggest you take him up on that, unless you have the chops to code a site yourself and then host it yourself.
Success breeds success, and Defender as a fairly successful website going. Of course, if you want to have a website, you best be downright fascinating... there's already a high number of great web resources for videogames. If you want to stand out, you have to be special.
Any fool can write reviews for a videogame. A talented peson can make them entertaining.

I hate to bring the Nintendo-ism back to the fore, but quality is better than quantity. You aren't going to be able to compete with IGN, Gamespot, or many of the myriad of other websites renoun for thier reviews and editorial content. The only chance you have in being successful is finding an underrepresented niche and tailoring your site to the needs and wants of that niche.
Defender needs reviewers for a different reason, and his site differs as he is using his reviewers give his site's viewers a bit of extra value by giving them reviews of product he is dealing with.
This isn't a concern of yours, so you should be looking at making your site compelling more than anything else... no matter how dedicated, I doubt a group of a couple tweens and teens could compare to the volume (and likely quality) of work put out by the big, well known sources. Dilute yourself too far and your site would be no more compelling that a simple geocities page... and that wouldn't reflect well on defender.

Be concise,
Be clever,
Be compelling.

No one wants to read another site full half-assed reviews or fanboy fueled diatribes, unless the point is to mock and ridicule those who submit work to be published... of course, I have a feeling your sources of content would dry up quickly if you did that.

See? That's a good idea. It speaks to a niche (Arcade goers) and provides information that very few (if any) other sites covers.
Not only that, after building up a following on the website, fifthcore could even approach arcade owners to advertise on his site.

Or, if you really like the general game reviews idea, come up with some sort of interesting theme, like all-haiku reviews or reviews sung as song parodies. Somewhat cheesy ideas, but you do need something interesting.

No need to have another "this game are best i've playde sinse halo," review site out there.

lol ya it is. I was thinking in the style of that street fighter flash game. I mean, This isnt gonna be the best game ever, but for $5-$7 it will be well worth it. I would love to have online vs play, but that is asking for a lot. Who knows. we will see!
