My mom and dad are wanting to convert family video tapes to dvd (or at least put them on the computer). I have no idea what I am looking for in the category and am wondering if any of you know any cheap products that may satisfy this request. Thanks for any help.

Costs a bit more but the quality is far better than that $23 card a few posts back. It has its own processor on the chip for video recording so it doesn't use your CPU (henseforth you can do other things while recording). Also can be used as a PVR (aka Tivo) as well. Worth the extra money. :D

(I have the 250 model myself which is slightly better but if you aren't that picky like I am then the 150 will do the job)

A DVD recorder is going to be the easiest/cheapest way. You don't really need the a combo DVD recorder/vcr because you can just connect you own vcr directly to the input of a standalone DVD recorder. The PC Card route might give better quality, but if you are going to be copying alot of tapes then this would be the best route cause it will free up your computer for other use.

CompUSA had one onsale, but it might not be onsale after today:

Its a Liteon which got pretty good reviews and can even play Divx/Xvid videos.

Yeah even at 3:25 AM CST I'm sure they have "stockers" putting "product" on their "virtual shelves."
