So now that the 360 version of FFXI is finally coming out, who is getting it? Also, if you play FFXI on the PS2 or PC, post your username, level, server, etc. You can use this topic to discuss expasions, get togethers, whatever.

Played the 360 demo. Took five hours to install, took over one more for updates, until I cancelled it.

This alienated me from wanting to try it or even buy it when it comes out.

Yeah, I remember when I first got it for PS2 the install process was the biggest hassle of ass ever. You should give a shot, though. I bet you'd like it.

It's a great game, but personally I think square made everything in the game a little too long to do. I can understand about leveling up, but for everything else it really wasn't necissary.

I'm not playing quite yet, but once I get a 360, it'll be the first game I pick up.

This game was so cool until I realized I was just fighting the same monsters since level 1. Then there was the 5 hours it took to form a group... It would have been a great game if you didn't have to spend eternity dicking around.

It's a great game, but personally I think square made everything in the game a little too long to do. I can understand about leveling up, but for everything else it really wasn't necissary.

Agreed. If this game had Oblivion's fast travel system, I'd be all over it. As it is, even with Chocobo's it takes an ETERNITY to get anywhere (and then wait for a party.)

Well, that's why it's more of a community thing. Though I can pretty much get anywhere I want real fast with Outpost warping. So I can't complain. I rarely take a chocobo anywhere, Outpost warping gets me where I need to be. Unless I'm lvling some low lvl job or something.

It is unfortunate to be waiting for party, but that's why you make your own. Though honestly, what I've done is put my seek flag up and just go do quests while I do things, always can warp back to Jeuno and get where I need to be. Or, I just wait for friends who are lvling a certain lvl and lvl with them. Normally lvl my high lvl job with the linkshell. So it doesn't bother me.

Not to mention getting to do the missions, I don't mind how long they are, it offers a challenge. Get some good friends together and bam knock some out (though holy crap some missions can get expensive >.< ) Still....I notice it's not for everyone, but I've been playing pretty much since the NA beta test. Summer/Fall of 2003. Ask around for anyone who remembers me in CAG. I used to be here all day long, until I got this game lol.

That's pretty ridiculous, they should give the game out for free. (and yes, I know, the reason for that is that Square pays for the servers, but that in itself is a fucking rip-off; we already paid for online, for fucks sake!)

Stop complaining, PS2 users paid 100 bucks for FFXI Rise of Zilart + hardrive, 30 more for CoP and 30 more for ToA. Thats 160.

PC Gamers paid 50 for FFXI Rise of Zilart, 30 for CoP and 30 for ToA. Thats 110. If they are new to the game now they can get FFXI RoZ + CoP for 30 and ToA for 30...still paying 60.

So its not like they are screwing xbox users over...

While the game starts off slow and you DO exp off of the same mobs most of the game, end game there is a lot more content to play with. CoP wyrms, King HNMS, Sky, Sea, Dynamis, Limbus are all things that ive done end game which has given me a sense of satisfaction with the game. ToA will bring even more new things to experience so i can hardly wait.

Yes, but the deal is with MMORPG's, you don't need a gold membership (because your already paying a monthly fee).

Actually, FFXI plus RoZ and CoP is only $19.99 now for the PC... saw all the signage for it at EB / GS.

Was tempted to get it, then remembered if I was going to blow $20 I might as well start playing World of Warcraft again.
