Who would like to donate money so i can get a camera to make a video about ALS and how bad it is. My mother died from it. and i want to raise money so i can get a camer for this use. all donaters will be credited at end of film. pm me for details

If you're being sincere, I think it's a great idea. I think posting on this website isn't going to get you anywere though. Here are some ideas that could work:

1) A local university would probably LOVE to lend you a camera from their Journalism department.
2) A local university Journalism student would probably LOVE to use your idea for one of their class projects
3) Your local high school probably has a camera they would let you work with for this reason.

I think you have a great idea, and if you're sincere you can make it happen. Unfortunately there are too many people out there who are willing to use a sad story to rip people off (see New Orleans and 9/11 scams - not that all of them are scams, but the fact that there are scams is sad).

Fortunately for you, if you're willing to work with other people you can probably still make this work. And please don't come back and post that you live in a rural town in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to anyone with a camera except for the Best Buy that was planted in your rural town of population 45, because that will only make me cynical and I want to believe your story and wish the best for you in your quest. My Uncle was an incredible man and died of ALS a couple of years ago.

Why didnt you just ask for a camera? Why ask for donation when you can just get a camera?

If I wanted to make a film really bad. I wouldn't care how I got the camera and the most easiest way is to ask for a camera donation and not money donation. Big difference between being genuine and trying to scam someone.

You don't need something expensive to make a good movie, just some creativity, enginuity and the willingness to put some work behind it.

Pick up a disposable video camera from you local CVS for about $29 and do a little modification so that you can keep it permantly. It's a nice video camera.

Thats exactly what i thought and then put up the hotjobs website. Now mr bean man, on forums and the internet, we are all used to hearing scams and other ideas to make a quick buck thrown at us. So when I saw this it triggerd the scammer radar.

I do see that you had good intentions in your heart and I hope that you excuse myself and others that thought other wise.

With that said maybe introduce yourself and your cause a little better. A two sentence message asking for money usually doesnt cut it. Explain your situation so that others can understand what your going through.

Also realize that many people have Camcorders. And many people dont use them. Ask friends, Friends parents, grandparents, Teachers, School Faculty, Principle, etc and tell them what your goal is and how much it would help that you could use there Camera.
