Voom HD Networks to feature a pair of GameSpot-produced series on new Gameplay HD gaming channel.
Gamers who loathe leaving the couch to get the latest GameSpot news and reviews will soon have another option. Voom HD Networks has enlisted GameSpot to provide some of its original programming for its recently started 24/7 high-definition gaming channel, Gameplay HD.
GameSpot will produce two series for the network, GameSpotting, a half-hour-long recap of news, reviews, and previews, and CinemAddicts, an hour-long look at game stories told through cutscenes and selected gameplay clips from popular games. The rest of the network's programming consists of original series and specials, news and information programs, and tournaments (including April's Blizzard Worldwide Invitational Tournament from Seoul, Korea, and the inaugural Guild Wars World Championship from Taipei, Taiwan).
Gameplay HD launched February 1 and can now be found on DISH Networks' channel 9485.

QFT.
And now there is yet ANOTHER channel that has more gaming-related content than G4. (The other being Spike TV)

Damn, I thought VOOM was dead. Lets just hope that it doesn't follow in G4's foot steps. Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually have this channel? Is it any good? I'm going to be moving out to the sticks, so I'm going to have to get satellite service. If this is good then it would make my decision between Dish and Direct tv a lot easier.

I just wanted to bump this topic because I just recently had DishTV installed over the weekend.
This is the channel G4 should have been. Pure videogame programming. I watched a Starcraft tournament from Korea and a Guild Wars tournament. The presentation is excellent - not that crap Arena stuff - where the mix in contestant profiles and developer interviews with the gameplay. And of course, it's in HD, so the video is excellent.
They also have a show called Cinemaddicts, which is like Cinematech but it only focuses on one game per show, so you get to basically see the entire game play out via game footage and cutscenes. I watched Brothers In Arms: Earned in Blood but had to turn it off, because I'm actually going to play that some day. There was another episode with Amped 3, and I got to watch all those crazy cutscenes (the best part) without actually buying the game.
The Gamespot stuff is great, because I think they make some excellent video productions. For instance, the E3 shows were on over the weekend - all the stuff broadcast live on the web - but in high definition. Very, very cool.
This weekend the PGR3 tournament is being broadcast. Europe, Asia, North America and World Championships.
If there was a problem with the channel, it's that it repeats a lot of it's programming. So really there might only be four shows a day, repeated over the course of 24 hours. But hey, it's better than Star Trek, Man Show and Fastlane, right?
Here's the URL if anyone's interested:

Finally a channel for gamers with content worth watching.

Hopefully this'll turn out well... Gamespot's show for the web, On the Spot, is actually really entertaining so I hope this turns out similarly well.

Yeah, I think The Hot Spot is better but On the Spot is pretty good too. Unfortunately I think Voom is DISH only and I've got cable so no high def Gamespot for me.
