Looking for a card that comes with a remote included. Would prefer a card that lets me record the video but really just want one for under $75.

I'm surprisingly computer-illiterate. Can you explain how the TV-Tuner works? It I got one, do I need to split the cable from my wall or will I be able to get channels through my cable modem connection?

You need to split the cable from the wall so you can attach a separate line to the tuner card. I have a Hauppage WinTV Go PVR card that I got for $20 AR, it works great for what I wanted it for (recording Seinfeld eps). Search bensbargains.net, they usually have a deal listed for a tuner card.

BigNick, that one looks really good. Since you have it would you be able to tell me if I can hook a 5.1 set of speakers to it, if you can record shows, and how good the picture looks? And this is one that you can just screw the cable line in the back right?

I go to school in a town called Hauppauge. Audiovox HQ is in that good old town.

I use the AverTV Studio, but I doubt you'll find it anymore. I got it for $50 I think years ago. Cable, S-Video input AND FM radio WITH remote. It kicks all sorts of ass.

The picture quality depends on what you set the recording at. If its good quality, it will take up some space. The 5.1 is no, you cant get 5.1 from regular cable tv anyway. I use my optical out on my home theater pc, and is sounds great. You can get pro logic surround sound though.

Can you use it to hook up consoles via s-video? Or is there somthing simmilar that uses component(?) YRW cables. I really want to keep all of my game stuff on one monitor but i'm not sure how to go about it, is this a good solution?

It looks really good but if its too slow for a console then I would be out 40$. I don't have much use for using it as a tv...

Could you do me a huge favor and see if consoles work well with the capture card? If they do I'm definatly going to grab one.

If you want a cheap card just to use it as a monitor, get one supported by dscaler. It's a amazing deinterlacer for the price of nil. The card compatablity list is at http://www.dscaler.org/card-support/index.htm .
