In the last OTT, toward the end, someone mentioned Saucy Jack not responding anymore, and that possibly he'd quit the Internet. There was also speculation that maybe he had taken a turn for the worse due to disease.

I just wanted to say that I think this incredibly strange, namely because the same thing happened to me once with another online group I used to hang around with. There was a well-known person that everyone gravitated towards, who ultimately announced one day that she had some sort of life-threatening disease. She then talked about the day she was going to stop coming onto the Internet altogether. At the time, we had a forum and a chat room that everyone would converse in, and she was a regular a both.

I can't make it sound too melodramatic, but she actually picked an exact minute she'd stop posting. One user created a countdown for the moment, and did something very eerie/cool with it: spliced in music from the old "Radio Zelda" website (the viral one that had been created to promote Majora's Mask), which cycled between a bunch of static and announcers saying things like "we've only got a few hours now...." Again, incredibly creepy, but also sadly alluring.

The night it happened, I was on my way out with a friend to Austin, TX to see his girlfriend. He had called me and said she was going to be in town (they both went to UT), and he wanted to go there to see her (I forgot why exactly he needed me to drive there, probably his car broke down or something). We were at his house with someone from the board/chatroom messaged me and explained the situation.

I'd known this girl's online personality for a while, and we'd chatted in several instances in the past. The messenger begged me to come into the chat room and talk sense into her. I did, and initiated a private chat with the girl for a long time.

She just kept reiterating over and over that she loved us all and that it would unfair of her to continue to come online everyday, when one day she might abruptly stop. "I don't want everyone to just all of a sudden ask where I am."

The countdown site was still running. We watched it slowly count down to zero.

In the chatroom, a furious flood of messages appeared - "Don't leave us" and "Come back" and "We love you" and other such things.

Then, just one message left.

"Disconnected."

It was one of the oddest experiences I've had online. Painful and serious, yet still...just....couldn't quite explain it.

I experienced something similar with a local radio station shut down. On their last night they played Stairway to Heaven as their last song. The announcer came on and said "Thank you for listening to 92.1 the rock station. Good night." After a few minutes of silence, nothing but static.

I'm not really sure why I just related both of these stories. I guess it's just that I seem to have an uncanny ability to be in a place where some user (of some sort) just disappears after a while, and there's too much speculation on what happened to them.

I dunno. I hope this post doesn't bore anyone, even if it is in the OTT.

Slightly related/last OTT: My school forced us to buy scan trons and blue books. I have several bad memories of being late to the exam, and having to run clear across campus to buy one of the goddamn things because I'd forgotten I didn't have any....

Edit: Brak was part of that other online community/crew/what-have-you. I don't know if he knows what I'm referring to or not, but I'm guessing he does.

Hell yes. We get to enjoy the weather:

Lucky us, we essentially get thursday and friday off, due to the CSAP mandated tests that the sophmores have to take. Classes are broken up into two periods, first and second on thursday, and third and fourth friday; each class is 80 minutes- ten shorter than usual. Having first and fourth off myself, yesterday I got to go into class at 1:50 in the afternoon, until 3:10, but today I go in at the same time as everyone else, 12:20. But I get to leave early, at 1:40. :D Thank you, Guv'ner Owens for letting me have all of 80 minutes of classes these two days. This was the case last week, too.

Just off the top of my head, not counting pixar/nightmare (Nightmare's the only one with a chance anyway):

The Emperor's New Groove

Mulan

The Lion King

Beauty & The Beast

and ...

Robin Hood

I know I've probably forgotten some greats.

Good. Her butt jingle was so hypnotic.

Damn... I'd have to go by what I actually care enough to own.

Disney, Animation only:

1) Aladdin
2) Lilo & Stitch
3) The Lion King

I think that's it.

Pixar:
1) Finding Nemo
2) Monsters, Inc.
3) The Incredibles

And while I'm not sure how they fit in, I like Tim Burton's claymation:
1) The Nightmare Before Christmas
2) The Corpse Bride

Here's my random question of the day....What are your top five favorite Disney movies? I'm not sure whether I should include Pixar, or stuff like Nightmare Before Christmas, but I'm curious.Well, most people would say to include Pixar stuff, and live-action stuff like Pirates of the Carribean. Me? I'm a fanboy, so none of that for me. Strictly animated classics (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ultimateclassics.htm) for me.

1. Snow White, hands down. Segei Eisenstein once said it was the greatest film ever made. And this guy made fucking Potemkin.
2. The Lion King. Even before I was into Disney, I remember being 10 or 11 and playing parts of that soundtrack nonstop.
3. Probably Pinocchio. It's one of those classics that just has everything. Plus, the idea of giving life to something inert ties into animation very nicely.
4. Hercules. 'Nuff said.
5. Toss-up between Bambi, Fantasia, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Alice in Wonderland. I'd lean towards Alice, but they're all great.

Whoa, I'm a goddamned nerd.

I want to learn about another country, or about a Time of Importance (His-tor-ry?), or about a special skill (yet again, no microwave). I just dont know where to start.

Learn either

1) About the Philadelphia Experiment (or Project Philadelphia...either way it's damn interesting)

2) How to do a Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes

3) H.P. Lovecraft

There, easily enough to fill a few hours, if not days/weeks.

edit: Lots here, actually: http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/index.html
Call of Cthulhu and Shadow Over Innsmouth are perennial favorites, too.

edit 2: I take those recommendations back. Start with Dream Quest of Unknown Kaddath. It's not only a good Lovecraft work, it's also a really good fantasy work in general.

The Outsider is a good start. Very atmospheric. It's a short story if you want a small taste.

If you go to wikipedia for Lovecraft, you can literally spend hours on the linked articles learning all about him.

Also, there really is an algorithm to Rubik's Cube-ness. I want to learn it some day. I'm going to bust that fucker out at job interviews and do it while the person is talking to me, but I'm never going to look at the thing.

It is surely win-win.

I personally like his stuff that centers around Cthulhu, or his Elder Gods. Looking at his list of fictional works, the ones I seem to recall on some level:

*The Call of Cthulhu
*At the Mountains of Madness
*The Dunwich Horror
*The Shadow Over Innsmouth

New phrase: "Whatever fits your Vagina".

Went to Meijers, and saw a Power Wheels Escalade and made some smart-ass remark. Apparently she said "Whatever the kids want" and I heard it just a wee bit off.

"Whatever fits your Vagina" is such a catch-all phrase though.

"What do you want to eat?" "Whatever fits your Vagina"
"Would you like that back in $50's and $20's?" "Whatever fits your Vagina"
"Can you tell me why I pulled you over?" "Whatever fits your Vagina"

Daylight Savings Times was created as a means to keep the sun out later in the summertime, but it's hot as fuck here and we don't need the sun out any later. The only real affect DST has on us is TV schedules, as ESPN is on an hour earlier, same as Adult Swim, Raw's on at 9 PM now, and some other channels shift their schedules an hour.

Indiana just switched to following DST across the state just this year. Hawaii doesn't observe DST either, but they have the same weather all year round like Arizona, so there's not really any need for more sunlight either.

One minute I'm playing Oblivion, and then I look at the clock seemingly a couple of minutes later, and an hour went by! Time sure flies when you are having fun!!
I was talking to my friend on AIM and it took him an hour to respond by his clock.

I have an mx700, but the charging part of the base stopped working and after a year or so I got tired of swapping out the batteries manually.

I don't do any PC gaming anymore, so I don't really have much need to upgrade. My mouse is already more percise than my hand anyway.

Really? I haven't changed batteries for the last year. You must've gotten some shitty batteries. As for the charging base, I thought I had a similar problem until I removed the dirt off the brass contacts on the bottom of the mouse with a slightly damp rag. Started glowing bright green after that. I think it's just the wireless version of cleaning the trackball. ;)

Also it creeps up or across the screen by itself sometimes, which can be annoying when trying to watch anime full screen (the bar pops up on the bottom blocking the subs). The only thing I miss is not the wirelessness but the weight of it.

Man... this fucking sucks...
Our toilet wont flush. It fills up with water and slowly drains. The bigger problem is the huge freaking turd in there. We don't have a plunger and I can't go to the store to buy one because my car needs gas. I can't put gas in my car because I don't have my wallet. I don't have my wallet because it fell out of my pocket into GG's aunts couch IN fuckING OHIO. She said she'd mail it up. After a week and a half its a no show so we call her up and don't get a reply. GG calls her mom (that talks to the aunt a lot) and apparently she hadn't sent it yet because she 'didn't know it was that important' :dunce: She supposedly sent it last Monday but its still a no show. She sent it the cheapest way posible without delivery confirmation. I hope shes a CAG so she knows I think shes a stupid fucking cunt. It only has two credit cards, my drivers license and ATM card. How could that posibly be important!? :wall:

So now because of gravity + GG's retarded aunt, I have to sit smelling festering shit in my fucking toilet!

Well, it doesn't sound like that bad a clog. Get a big bucket, fill it with water, then dump it in the toilet directly in the drain hole. The force might be enough to unstop it.

Ooh, I don't know. Chlorine is a pretty nasty gas. When I was a kid we had a puppy that urinated on the floor and my dad mistakenly used bleach on the region. The interaction between the ammonia and bleach put out enough chlorine to give me a headache and mess up my sense of smell for the rest of the day. It was a relatively little amount of piss, too. I think it's well within reason that, in an enclosed space like a bathroom, it could become a real concern. That is, if Comet has chlorine bleach in it...

Yes, the ventilation in the bathroom would play heavily into it, and the active amount of both reacting chemicals. I do believe Kayden would be in line for one of the ignoble award if he managed to piss himself to death.

I never did make a list. Hmm...

Let's go with Aladdin, Oliver and Company, Hercules, Tarzan, and...how about The Great Mouse Detective, just to pick an oddball one? :)

I'm still a Disney fan, and probably will be for a long time. As long as they don't ruin whatever input Lasseter and the rest of the Pixar guys have, the immediate future looks promising. :)

Well, on a lot of OOT stuff from major studios, you have to consider that there's two new formats coming out, and they want to make money, so it's entirely possible that something being in the "vault" like Disney likes to do doesn't necessarily mean it won't show up on HD-DVD or BluRay.
