How well do Xbox 360 controllers work on PCs?

I really want a Mad Catz or regular 360 controller for the PC but I've never read a definitive word on how well they work on PCs.

Is the only other option the playstation esque rumble pad 2s?

I love my thrustmaster Firestorm dual power joystick. It's a little ps2...a little dreamcast...but all good. Great response...D-pad is solid and it a tough little thing too.

I say go with the 360 controllers. Since they're design for the 360, it should be better than most of the controllers out in the market. All I know is, don't get the $10 Logitech ones that looks like the PS2 controllers. They fail in a very short amount of time, but hey, you get what you paid for.

Yeah, I really want a 360 controller because of the analog triggers and how nice and white they look. But in reviews they mention stuf f about the calibration for the analog sticks being an issue.

Well Best Buy is going to have 10 dollars of pelican accessories and I heard the pelican 360 controller isnt bad at all. Thats 20 bucks for a decent 360 controller, I may have to buy it.

Even though I have not tried it I would go with the 360 controller. The lay out is nice and it feels nice in your hand, overall a great controller. And considering I all the pc controller I have had either had a terrible over all design or had missing features, like analog sticks. Even if calibration is an issue I am sure in the near future it would get resolved with more recent software.
