I actually really like this new setup. I like seeing the box art next to the game. It makes your collection look that much bigger which is kinda cool.

yeah, it's pretty neat. I noticed it the other day. You can pick what columns you want shown, so for those with a lot of games, it's wise to disable the boxart otherwise it takes forever to load. You can customize the page colors as well.

I noticed it a couple days ago as well. It's way way better now, I like it.

initally I thought it was crappy as hell and liked the older one. But one of the reasons i thought that was because I liked how it showed how many of each game you had and it's percentages. But it can still show you that, found it after clicking around a little. I think the game collection estimater way overestimates now though. My collection value jumped up around a grand

Mine jumped up an extra $12,000

This new one sucks ass... is there any way to have it listed alphabetically by platform? I can do it by platform, but its all out of order, looks like shit... definately like the old one better (which is still accessible).

I also like how the old one actually split the systems up, everything is a big fucking jumble on the new one.

Yeah, I noticed that change today. Kinda cool :) Gonna have to play around with it a bit I think. And my value jumped $4000. I figured these numbers were kinda off when it was jumping $20-$30 per eReader game I added to my collection ;)

I don't like the fact that I can't go to my list and look for the cheat section for a specific title like before. Or any other feature that was in the same column for that game. As for DVDs, I have all mine cataloged at dvdaf.com. I'm so not gonna reenter 250+ titles

trunks982

it seems that some dvds are missing in the search engine. i tried to add Win a Date with Tad Hamilton DVD in my DVD collection, they dont have that listed. its my very first chick flick DVD. its a great movie btw.

When you use this link (http://my.ign.com/my/sb?action=viewUserGameList&ownedGames=1&objType=1), you can look at your own lists in the old style.

I don't like this new one, so far...

Edit:
Holy smokes, their little "estimate" for the value of my collection increased by $4738.74. o_O

With the new "estimate," that means that they believe that each of my games is worth exactly $37. I highly doubt that any of my cart-only NES games will fetch $37. These estimates are way, way too high.

Yea, this threw me at first too. But look at the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Expand the Videogames option, and you'll see another expandable option called Collection By Platform. There you'll be able to list out your games by platform, and they will be in alphabetical order there.

It takes a little getting used to, but I really like the new layout as well. The only thing I wish they had added is the ability to add more than one title at a time (like dvdaficionado.com does). I really want to add my dvd collection to have all my collections in one place, but doing it one at a time will take for-ev-er.

If it had the same listing format as the old style, this new one would be great, it looks all uneven thanks to all the various boxarts, should be an option to categorize them by console automatically, not via that stupid menu on the left

Wow, I really hate it. The last version was so clean and easy to read, now my games are all over the place. Even sorted by platform in one list, it's not nearly as easy to read. My public notes now take up way too much room as well. Thumbs down.

I agree.. I just don't like it now. It looks nicer but the old ones functioned a lot better. It's more like GS's now, which is glitchy and I avoided using it. Now IGN's looks to be the same way...:-x And if you try to reorganize it, it doesn't put everything in alphabetical order. Some of the games aren't where they belong while most are fine.

And the search feature sucks!:-(

I do like that they added a DVD section though... that's kinda nice I guess but they don't have some of my DVDs.:-?

Anybody know how to get the public view to show games by platform, in alphabetical order?

Bleh... it's crap now. Used to be simple and easy to navigate. Now it's just too messy and complicated. As my wife always tells me, "Don't fix unless it's broke... and not broke in the sense that it needs batteries!"

As much as I hate to redo everything...

Does anyone know a better listing site out there I can use? Its a real pain in the ass not being able to sort alphabetically AND by platform, what kind of idiot dosen't code that in?

Is there a way to use the old version still?

You'd have to add them to the new version to have them on both. The old setup can't update to the new setup, because if you're using the old setup, you're not going to be using the new setup then. Plus, I don't believe there's a way to get to the new setup from the old one, unless I missed an added link.

How anyone can not like this new setup is beyond me. I can now finally list games under categories such as "Need to beat", "Need to find scan for cover project", ect. The ability to customize is reason alone to put it far above the old setup.

Don't like how it isn't group by system? Then click on the link that says "Platform" to do so, or even go the left side and go to "Collection by platform". Don't like the boxarts? Then click on column options and deselect boxarts. Mad that they don't show a boxart for every single game you own? Then find jpgs of them(I had to scan some of my import saturn and 3DO games) and send it to games@ign.com, saying that you want them to list them in their database.

I like how they included everything I wanted and I find the rest of you whining. Get over it.

And, one more thing. If they don't have a few DVDs you have in their database, e-mail them about it. They just started this, so it is unfair to expect them to have everything right away.

You're right, dude. We shouldn't have our own opinions on it. If you like it, nobody else has a right to disagree. How could we ever be so crass as to think differently than you? Thanks for showing me the light. I freaking love it now.

So what if it takes more space to show less info? So what if showing public notes now doubles the height size of the list? So what if I have to click a tab then scroll to the top and hit "edit" to change anything? So what if I find it stylistically inferior to its predecessor? As long as SMMM likes it, none of that matters, and is in fact "whining."

By the way, now the bookmark I had for the old version bumps to the new one. I'd complain, but I don't want to whine more, and tick off SMMM. So it's great!

Finally, someone understands. btw, most of your complaints have little to do with the list's abilities and more with you being to lazy to spend an extra couple seconds doing something, not to mention "it's not your style". The pros far outweigh the cons.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I'm not a fan of the new style either. And to be fair, it takes more than a "couple extra seconds" to some of the stuff that ViolentLee was talking about. I'll admit that some of the extra stuff is cool, like how you can put if you played or beat the game or whatever, but I don't have time for all the customization that you seem to be all excited about. I just want to update my list quickly and prefer quick and easy viewing. It's tedious to add and remove games IMHO, especially adding them. I also think that XxFury2Xx is right on the money...IGn has always been slow for me too, and with the new system, you have to link more often than with the old system it seems. So, as far as the pros far outweighing the cons, I don't know about that. I think it depends on the person. Maybe for you, but certainly not for me.

Untrue. The only complaint about perceived laziness was the one about having to click a tab then scroll to the top of the list. When you have 1000+ games like I do, that's a pain in the butt.

I have no problem agreeing to disagree. I'll still continue to use it, as it's still worlds better than GameSpot's or 1up's. I just wanted to give you a little crap for pointing a twisted finger at any dissenters.

I like how their choices of what games fit into what genre. I never knew that Rise to Honor, Power Stone, and TMNT IV were all the same type of games.

It seems to be allowing me to rank games in the genre listing, but it wasn't doing it before. I like it. The customization is nice, it's pretty fast loading-wise, and the editing/adding system is a little easier, though I miss the quick edit feature from the old version.

Sorry to bump up a bit of an old thread. I've bene going through my collection, but I can't stand the search feature now. is there anywy to do it like before and just search for DS games or PS2 games and the just add a bunch of them. When i search just DS it comes up only 5 results a page and it's a pain in the ass going through the entire 400 game list of DS games just for a hand full of them.

Ya, I know what you mean. You click"add items" then you search for it. It comes up in the search so you check mark the "add" box. Then you click "add to my list". BUT then it says game isn't found and you can't add it. Correct? I just wait until later to add it when it feels like putting out.

There are a few things that annoy the heck out of me about IGN's system. Unfortunately, there's no DVDAf-type system for VGs.

1) Why are GameRanking Stats between My Ranking and the Average User Ranking. Shouldn't these two Rankins be right next to each other?

2) I wish it was more customizable, or automatically seperated by system. I guess it's just nitpicky, but It drives me nuts.

3) I don't want emails. Stop making it default.
