I looked all over at Busch (even in the glass cases in front). I wish i had known it was XBX because they had like 5 of them at the LoL store.

But i think after what happened to you and your friend, ill be safer not combining those two games for a while...

Oh yea, for anyone who reads this thread thats looking for Ikaruga, Rhino @ Citrus Park has it for $34.99 used (not quite as good as the $8-$12 walmart had it for a while back, but it seems to be going anywhere from $35-80 on ebay)

Yea... I know, it's total BS.

Luckily I've got some emails and some #'s I will start taking advantage of right now on my friend's behalf, so maybe, somehow, they will give him that $20 credit back so he can at least get Guitar Hero for his brother.

Like I said, sorry for fucking this up, I'm usually real careful and I spaced all of my visits out about 4 - 5 days per visit, always making sure to get different employees... I was flagged in the fucking computer or something.

Meh, dont worry about it. Im sure we'll find some more games that work. Better you to fuck it up than some lurker ;-). (I still wanna hit that one guy who went to Gamerush and told them that he bought all his games for $8.96 @ Circuit City, while he was getting up to $29 for them.)

I don't know if you were around a loooong time ago but remember when I stirred up shit at the Gamerushes down here too?

Me and Blockbuster run stores just don't mesh.

Got a 60 Gig PS2 today at blockbuster while I was trying to return my 20gig. They sold me the 60 gig but refused to take my 20 gig because the seal was broken (which the store broke). They also had a Wii but would not sell me one because it was "1 console per household" and I bought the PS3. So now Im stuck with an extra 20 gig (a 2nd extra if Interbay EVER gets mine in). Anyone want a 20 gig PS3 at cost?:)

IIRC, he works near the 34th Street South Gamerush, so I have *assume* it was that one, but I don't know for sure... it might be worth it to call them.

I could be wrong, like I said I'm just making a big assumption

The one on 49th street. They sold one Wii when I was there but told me the PS3 and the Wii were in stock all day. Give them a call, it is very possible it is still there. I know the PS3 is not selling as quick in general (just look at Ebay), the Wii is definitely the harder of the two consoles to get ahold of so I was shocked that the two had lasted all day.

So does anyone else think that Sony's time on top is about to end?

Had no trouble trading in Ape Escape 3 @ Rhino, i got the hispanic guy and this new girl thats working there (not much to look at unfortunately). The only thing the guy commented on is that he knew it qualified (never said anything negative to me, just kept on with the trade.) I also traded Bust a Move PSP (which i got @ Circuit City Citrus Park for $7.99 - there were 5 left )I was able to get the last of the Gamecube Twilight Princesses, unfortunately its a gutted copy.

Amazing, the same copy that was "out of stock" yesterday when I asked.

Oh well, I'm just waiting on Rhino to answer my email at this point, and I got my friend to send one too.

Even if I still could do more trades, I wouldn't know what to get anymore, since I think they were legitmately 100% out of Tiger Woods 2007 since the new case wasn't even on the wall (I made sure to look on my way out).

I think I'll be on the down low until the new year when Lost Planet comes out, then I'll flip some EB stuff to them. I'll be damned if I ever bring in my real games to trade again, though (which is what I was doing as well).

You know what we're missing in Tampa Bay?

A good shop that sells PS2 imports... I would throw a store so much $$$ if they stocked imports (and not just handhelds, like EB / GS / Rhino do).

I am new to the forum, which is great for finding deals.

There were 2 different stores that sold import games, microplay which changed its name to megaplay on 56th and fowler, dale mabry in carrollwood and a location on hillsborough ave. They were shut down one by one by sony for doing import games.

2nd store that did import games was called gameswitch of tyrone area, they were shut down by microsoft for doing import games.

Its illegal to sell import games, granted people do it, but they dont last long. Also to play import games you would need a mod chip or other device which is also illegal.

Does anyone know about the store I saw on macdill called ideal music and games? they were closed when I drove by.

Anyone know where to find a wii? and the super monkey ball game?

I also saw a store on 66th street before you get to US 19, it was a video rental place, but they had a video game section. The owners appear to be swedish. Do not know if they sell import games, I was in hurry when I stopped by.

For any local gamers wanting Zelda Twlight Princess on Gamecube check out Westshore Mall Gamestop.

They had 10 copies come in on Friday.

Maybe they still have some. This is a amazing game.

Went to Countryside, Port Richey, Brandon, and Fowler TRU's today... every store was pretty much cleaned out already as soon as I got there (which was close to opening).

Fowler TRU was COMPLETELY empty on any high profile items... that was a huge bust. Brandon TRU also sucked because the employees admitted they had already bought everything decent, though one employee did let me buy his Atelier Iris 2 because he said he'd never play it.

I didn't check Saint Pete TRU because that TRU usually sucks anyways.

Otherguy676
12-26-2006, 06:09 PM
I went to Countryside TRU @ 12 where I expected to find Atelier Iris 2 & Advance Wars DS, which were there on the 24th. Instead, they were both gone, and all that was left was Steambot Chronicles, which I bought out of loyalty to Atlus.

I did find a copy of Earthbound out a pawn shop though, that I hope to trade for Lufia 2.

Yea, I snagged both of those... well, my friend snagged Advance Wars DS, I grabbed Atelier Iris 2, noticed it in the case as I was paying. I think I also got a Steambot Chronicles there and I left some behind... they also had some Tales of Legendia there too. Got there at roughly 10 am when they opened.

Other than Countryside, all the other TRU's were a bust... I did find one Monster Rancher Evo at Port Richey, though.

Alot of the stuff didn't even price tags, and I was told by the employees alot of the stuff like Metal Saga and espically Grandia 3 sold a long time ago.

I never checked the Saint Petersburg TRU except just once on like, the 23rd... they might have had some good stuff but IIRC, there are people on the boards that work there so I don't ever bother checking the store.

4 TRU's and it was mostly a giant bust, and just a huge waste of gas. Which is disappointing. I filled the tank once this morning and now I've got to fill it again, without really anything to show for it. I guess I saved some people some drives though.

Well I got my wii of CRAIGSLIST today for $100, it didnt have any cables or controllers, but I called NINTENDO and they sending them to me for free. Aparently the guy selling the wiis is running some kind of scam and having nintendo send him repair systems and not returning the one he claimed is broken. Just ordered rampage for $16 from Tru.com but no one seems to have what I really want which is monkey ball for the wii. Those that do have no coupons, buy.com is out of stock, tru cant order online.

Aha! So your the thief Roufuss!:) It was funny because I woke up late and I was debating whether to go or not because I figured you beat me to it since US 19 in Pinellas is your territory. Bezerker I was referring to monkey ball for the wii. I have every other monkey ball for every system, gamecube, xbox, ps2, ngage, gameboy advance, nintendo ds, and since tru got it back in stock before their sale ended, I have it on Wii. Its a rather good game, if you have never played it, $8 for the game is not a bad deal. Its backwards compat on the 360 if you find the xbox version.

Still can not beleive I got a Wii for $100

Rhino is on the side of town I never go to. I may eventually go over and trade some crap but after finding rarities such as Earthbound, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Streets of Rage 3, Im a little tied up financially and I have every recent release game I want with exception of Dirge of Cerebus. Ill probably go there once I get a Wii and get rid of my extra PS3.

Looks like its shades of last year's TRU -> Gamerush hoarding. (RE4 GC FTW)

Atelier Iris 2 $24
Samurai Champloo $24
Metal Saga $27
Grandia III $12
Gundam Seed: Neverending Tomorrow (PS2) - $16
Monster Rancher EVO - $24
Steambot Chronicles - $24

Though i doubt they have any of these games left. Shame i was just by there yesterday. Guess i can make a trip on Saturday, unless someone can confirm that the Fowler TRU doesnt have any of these.

All this reading up on GR makes me wonder where Elmyra's been.

I'm still here, but mostly lurking right now. :D I'm going to have to sit out this round of GR flipping; I didn't go to a single TRU for the clearance, and Roufuss said that all the local stores were already cleaned out on the first day.

I was at Fowler TRU the very first day of the sale at 1:30 pm and they were COMPLETELY cleaned out... all they had left was nothing but licensed GBA / DS shit.

Employees hoarded the entire Brandon store, this I know for a fact because I heard them talking about it.

Countryside barely had anything and what they did have is long gone... same with Port Richey.

I never bothered with Saint Pete.

Don't waste the time or the gas looking. Half of these games on the list our stores never ever stocked in the first place, like Metal Saga or Grandia 3.

This TRU clearance was one huge disappointment. Like I said earlier, I spent about 5 hours and around $30 in gas hitting up these 4 TRU's, only to find nothing at all. I had to buy almost all of the games I wanted off of people I know on CAG.. I should have just stayed home.

Well, here in Lakeland our TRU actually has some good items for once... Picked up in total..

Castlevania DoS
Resident Evil DS
Steambot Chronicles
Rub Rabbits
Gunstar Super Heroes
Trace Memory
Advance Wars DS
Metal Gear Acid 2
Deep Labyrinth

I think that's about all I got between my BF and I, mostly me. Lol. All of those, they at least had plenty of most of the ones I picked up. The employee working picked some up as well I think. For once though I was greatly surprised since previous TRU sales I've been pretty SOL. I've seen a ton of controllers at K-Mart... try some of the K-Mart's that aren't in highly travelled areas. I know that a day or two ago the K-Mart on 34th Street South had at least 4 remotes.

Im holding off for MGS4, Final Fantasy 13, or even the FInal Fantasy 7 remake (yea, like that's gonna happen) before i get my PS3. Seems like most of the games are rehashed platformers, sports, WW2 fighters, and a Gundam game, whoo.

As for the Wii; Shame on you Roufuss for not lining up at launch. The Dale Mabry Target didnt give away their last 10 tickets til 15 minutes before they opened the door. I got there at 5am and was #18 of 60.

Yea, the St Pete TRU told me the same thing... that they all came in yesterday. He said they expect them every Tue / Wed.

Lyric, this is the convo I had with the guy at Circuit City:

Me: You don't have any Wii's, right?

Him: No, we don't, but... I'd check back Sunday.

Me: Why Sunday? No shipments usually show up then.

Him: Well... I can't say for sure, you know, we don't know when shipments are coming in, but if I had to bet on a day Wii's would be here, it would be Sunday.

And he's smiling the whole time he's talking, like he knows a secret that he wants to tell me but he can't.

Now, maybe he's full of BS, or maybe CC is still holding for Sunday dates to make it easier, I don't know. I'll be checking Sunday morning but I'm not holding my breath at all.

It's too bad I don't have internet on my cell phone or I'd post as soon as I found a store that is carrying Wii's. Hell, if I had extra money (I don't :( ) I'd pick one up for someone at cost.

This may seem a bit crazy, but if anyone wants to start exchanging numbers so we can better help each other, that would be the way to go I think. I mean, with cell phones and text messaging and stuff we wouldn't even have to actually call one another, if anyone was phone shy ;) Just a quick message like "Wii's at EB in Tyrone" would be enough... because if any of us found them, by the time we get back here and post it they are long gone.

Well here is a heads up, if anyone is gonna buy a wii with no cables or controllers and get them else where, do not do it. The system is completly useless unless you have a wii remote. It will not even let you use it as a gamecube even after you set it up with a wii remote. The remote is needed to select it to even play gamecube games. I have every peice needed now, the nunchuck, the sensor bar, the av cables, the power cord, but the wii remote is on back order direct from nintendo. I have my monkey ball game, and its just sitting there now until I can find a wii remote. It totally sucks butt.

For anyone looking for a decent price on a HDTV. Sams Club on N Dale Mabry has a 60" Sony LCD for $800. It has a broken screen, but the tag says the estimated repair cost is $515.

I believe it was This Model. (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=KDS60A2000&Dept=tvvideo&CategoryName=tv_size_50to80)

a little over $1,400 doesnt seem like that bad of a deal for a Sony 60" LCD (1080p). I'd wonder how long it'll take to get repaired though.

I went to Rhino this morning where it was confirmed they were bought out. They're not sure whats happening other than they're going to start getting GS's signage/promo materials.

Traded Wheel of Fortune & MTV Music Generator for Smackdown vs Raw 2007 360 ($49.99 used ^_^).

They also had Fear 360 used for $49.99, i was going to pick it up, but 1 of my other 2 games didnt qualify ><.

I went to 3 different stores that had Totaled in stock, all freaking disc-only (rhino's fine print says "original case and instructions required"). I may try out a few Kmarts tomorrow night for that Neopets game.

^ I was in line the day after Xmas at the Northdale GameStop. I could have gotten a Wii then because I was far enough ahead in line compared to the stock they were receiving. The problem was I was there at 6:30 a.m. and the shipment wasn't supposed to come until that afternoon. I decided not to wait because I would have to be there all day. Turns out they got them in at 11 and I could have gotten one if I would have waited a few more hours.

I'm still mad at myself because since then I haven't been nearly as close to finding a Wii again.

This is getting really ridiculous. Nintendo needs to start shipping out more units.

Over 50 different mini games. If anyone wants to come over to play wii, let me know, must have your own remote and nunchuck, and if you break my tv because of your slippery hands, you will die a slow death

MICROPLAY aka MEGAPLAY ON 56TH AND FOWLER has long been out of business, they had 3 locations, that location was shut down over 2 years ago.

Each location was shut down for different reasons, carrollwood location too many break ins, hillsborough location, plaza was torn down, 56th and fowler, owner selling import games and doing mod chips. Oh forgot after he got arrested for child porn, he never opened back up due to he was actually found guilty of the crimes.

Gamerush is inside only st pete location blockbusters, and there is Game Crazy by Hollywood video stores.

I drove by a place on macdill and kennedy, I forget the name, they never called back something Ideal games. just found it

There is also game zoo, i think they are an arcade with xboxes and they have some games for sale, according to craigslist there is a place in brandon called extreme gaming, dont know what they do there.

Yea, I just saw that... that's kind of shady, it actually say its "new in the box and unopened"... why would someone take a $50 loss on a Wii rather than just return it to the store?

I should be hopefully getting my wii today or tomorrow, a friend on here hooked me up with a CL guy selling a brand new Wii with receipt for $300. If you didnt know they will drop like a crackhead looking for a rock.

My sources at a gamestop already told me the prices are dropping quickly in bay area due to their monopoly. No more old school games in any retail store aka snes, n64, genesis, ps1, nes, dreamcast. Gamestop stopped carrying all that when they merged with EB.

No, I think some place went out of business. I've seen common DS games in bunches everywhere lately, and they have all looked new. The Children of Mana I looked at was definetly never played and I think the pawn shop got it new and ripped off the plastic. I am going to wait a few weeks and try to buy a few of the games for $10 apiece.

In other news, Wii restock was this morning at several stores (TRU Fowler, Target?, Wal Mart?), sold out right away while the PS3 sits on the shelves. Anyone else think Sony might be in trouble if this continues?

monkeyballer
01-11-2007, 07:05 PM
What game store went out of business? They could have been games that people bought off the internet with discounts and stuff, or they could have been stolen, not a lot of legit stuff would be given away to pawn shops in my opinion, they give less then the game stores. No way to track DS games if they were stolen to begin with.

Sony is in big trouble, they anounced today no PORN would be on blue-ray porn helped spur the DVD format, so its yet another format sony has made that will fail, umd, beta max, MD music discs.

The manager at rhino wont be the manager much longer, can almost count on it, when ever there is a hostile take over as the blindsiding of Rhino, the rhino people will eventually be replaced with managers from stores they already own. You cant have managers who do not know gamestop policy run a gamestop converted store.

The one by Park Blvd and US 19, next to the rudest gamestop in park mall. Where you call for something and then drive and they say they dont have it.

So what Gamestop/EB is the worst here in Tampa Bay?
Lately its been the one on Tyrone.
but I second it for Park Mall one.

I haven't been in the one in Tyrone since, from what the old manager told me, she was quitting after Christmas.

If she really did quit, then yea I could see it going downhill since she was the only nice and competent employee in there.

But yea, I can see why you'd say the one on Tyrone, there is one guy who works in there that is a giant douche.

Hitting up Rhino Saturday if I have time, def want to get some games before they close Sunday. As for pawn shops, you'd be surprised on how legitimate the chains are with their items (EZ, Value, CA). As anyone who has read my posts know, I have made out extremely well at pawn shops (about 90% of the games I buy), especially on X360 games. Self space is always a concern so games can become cheap quick. Now Monkeyball, about that Video Game store...................:)

The other retarded gamestop store would be the RUSSIAN RUN bernie at westshore mall, I would never shop there when he was working.

If anyone is looking for SNES (cart only) Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, or Breath of Fire 2, Rich's Pawn in Port Richey/New Port Richey has them for $20 -$30 a pop. I didn't buy them as I own all of them Complete. The Pawn shop is on US 19. I also saw a Legend of Zelda (1) in box. I didn't open to see if it was complete. It was also $30. Its quite a trip , but worth a ride if anyone wants to check it out.

Roufuss, get them from buy.com and use the $10 off google checkout or buy some from Rhino before they close with your Rhino Credit, or anywhere online that has a discount.

Also if your using the wii points for virtual console, get yourself a AR for GC, a sd memory card adapter for GC and then download the emulators for the GC, voila free virtual console games.

Heads up to anyone I was at a flea market earlier today the one on hills and 22nd street the drive in theater, some guy was selling xbox and ps2 games for $3 a pop, mostly sports, but he had some other stuff as well, snes, n64 games for $1, Nes and nintendo imported systems. Gameboy and gameboy color games were $5 a pop as well.

Went there again today, same guy lowered all the sport games to $2 a peice, xbox, and ps2. Had a new section non sport games for ps2 and xbox at $5 a pop, and brand new ps2 and xbox games $15 or 2 for $25.

Said tommorrow he will have PSP and DS games for $20 or less, some brand new but mostly used ones with books and cases.

Also said all his Xbox 360 games would be $25 or less.

Went to visit rhino for the last time, shame it was only one of a few times I had ever went. The employees hate gamestop with a passion, one has put in his 2 week notice to protest the other guy said its all downhill, some lady was there from gamestop corporate to start the long night of switching stuff over to gamestop. I was told by one of the guys, that if I wanted old school stuff, I should check the dumpsters in the next few days, I dont recall any resturants that are in the same plaza if anyone is interested in dumpster diving.

Doubt you'll find anything interesting... one employee already told me that if they have a sale / throw it out / whatever he's got his eye on about half of the store. I laughed and he said "No, serious, I've been collecting out of this store for years and I'd love to add all this stuff to my collection".

Gamestop won't throw it away though, they'll transfer it somewhere and bulk sell it someplace.

Rhino is next to that hair and nail salon too... I wouldn't want to dumpster dive through that stuff =X

I used to think so, but then most of the Software Etc & Babbages that used to be in Tampa changed their name to Gamestop/EB. Tampa sucks for diversity right now, its pretty much the GS Empire, Gamerush (which i'd hardly call a game store these days), and Interbay (nuff said, lol).

I miss the old days of Microplay, Microcenter, and even Blockbuster Games in the Tampa Mall (accross from Software Etc, which was a good store at the time). That whole opening a gamestore could be a good idea. As long as we pull some decent sales figures, its only a matter of time before we make some huge cash by a GS buyout ;-).

Now i'll definately declare armageddon when GS buys out Interbay.

Alright, my trip to Funco Land was pretty unfulfilling.

Their store locator through EB's site seems to be working (4+ on Winback, Nightmare, Ape Escape, etc). The store itself is a complete mess, they were still putting up stuff. They had about 10 people working. The new manager (i guess) said that right now it'll be B1G1F on all old stuff, but they said that once everything is organized, they'll start doing some "heavy price drops".

So yea, it does look like they'll be getting rid of the old school stuff and not take any more in. I didnt bother to stay too long, everyone was running around and the place was a complete mess so i just asked about the old system stuff and left.

Good luck with that... of the old Rhino employees that stayed, I know a good majority of them were VERY intersted in the old school stuff, and one guy even told me that he's got his on eye on about half of the store if the stuff does drop. Everything rare / valuable / good will be long gone before anyone on CAG even gets to it... I'm not getting my hopes up at all.

Interbay still hasnt got there PS3 yet. My $100 is being disputed and Ill probably get it back unless I convert it to "credit" in the meantime. If Suntrust gives it back to me, theyll probably investigate the store the CSR said. I have recieved ZERO comunication from Interbay as I subbmitted my call records to Suntrust to show they havent bothered to call in 2 months. The owner was pretty cool when I was up there last month and apologized, however, now it is quite ridiculous. I am heavily considering filing a complaint with my hookup at the chamber of commerence, especially if I dont get some communication from the store this week. I can always skip the headache and convert it all to credit and buy some games from the store, it may be a shack, but there is some decent games to be found there among the crap.

I don't know what's crazier... the fact that they won't give it back, or the fact they DON'T have PS3's.

You think the guy would just go to Best Buy, buy one of 100's on the shelf, and just sell it to you for cost. Sure, he wouldn't make any money, but he'd have a (somewhat) happy customer.

I wouldn't convert it to credit because then you've basacially just given him a $100 loan.

Plus, just think, there has to be other people like you out there, but maybe not as vocal or maybe they don't know what do... if Suntrust were to open some kind of investigation they might be able to get quite a few people their money back.

If they havent contacted you, have you contacted them?

As you mentioned they been in business over 5 years, someone must be shopping there, doesnt make any sense of what your saying.

Why would he rip you off for $100 after 5 years of being in business? If he went and bought ps3 from best buy, then wouldnt he be out the $100 plus the system since the $100 preorder goes to the distributor? And of all the members on here, only Otherguy is having a problem with his preorder?

Nobody else shops there, Otherguy was the only one who put down a preorder there just to see if they would get it in... at the time the PS3 was the hard to find system on the block.

From what Berzerker says, it's 5 years of shady business, but I don't know about all that.

I'm saying, at this point, Interbay should just go buy a PS3 at Best Buy to sell to Otherguy to honor the terms of the contract, since they are very easy to find. Interbay probably had no "distrubutor" for the PS3 to begin with, I'd be willing to bet, and by not returning phone calls they are preparing to put themselves in a world of pain.

If other people did shop there, and did put $100 down, they probably ended up converting it to credit so it's less of a hassle, and Interbay wins. I applaud Otherguy for sticking up for himself and following this through.

It just doesnt make sense to me, thats all I have to say on the matter.

So I called Rhino today and they answered Gamestop, so did they change their signs to Funcoland or are they now a GameStop?

Blockbuster games in Tampa Bay mall was awesome, they always had lower prices then the gamestop or what ever they called themselves, but that was because it was all former rentals from their video stores.

Why hasnt blockbuster opened their game rushes in Tampa as of yet? Will we ever see them now, thanks to rhino being sold to gamestop?

Roufuss

Blockbuster hasn't opened a new Gamerush in a long long time.

They won't be opening anymore any time soon either.

Gamerush isn't part of what Blockbuster wants to achieve, so they aren't going to put any more money into it.

Rhino is a Gamestop, it's just using FuncoLand for whatever reason on the store locator.

Blockbuster has not opened a Gamerush in Hillsborough county because of pawn/trade regulation they dont want to deal with. The Blockbuster next to USF was going to be a Gamerush (Fletcher and BBDowns).

Interbay has bad reviews and word of mouth on the internet. By upsetting me, at the least the business is upsetting one of the bigger gamers in the area. At most Ill file a complaint against the store, but as I said earlier, the owner was cool when I talked to him. He didn't immediately admit his mistake, but if I take him at his word (which I do with people) he did say that it was possilbe that people marked down they called me and didn't call. Getting the PS3 doesnt bother me much, and the deposit isnt a big deal since I make that in less than a night at work. The principle bothers the heck out of me so I either let Suntrust handle it, handle it myself, or take the credit. I rather not have the hassle, but I am a little PO'ed about my money being taken with nothing to show for it. I echoed these concerns to the owner when I was last at the store.

I tend to agree with Roufuss about the rare stuff at Rhino, the employees probably scooped that up right away. I would like a few of the games, but my biggest want had major label damage. Ill check it out, but I am not expecting much, Ill list what is there if I find anything.

I dont know, I say we open the store up, get a profit and appear to be a threat to Gamestop and have them buy us out:) It'll be like the Simpsons episode when Homer has the webpage and Bill Gates buys him out for no reason other than he thinks he might be competition, but can't figure out what the webpage does.

I wonder why Gamestop hasn't tried to buy MegaHit games in Ocala. They used to be a chain but are direct competition with Gamestop in the Paddock Mall. They carry everything but are far extremely pricey. Most rares for secondary older consoles (Sega CD, 3DO etc) were well passed Ebay prices. Lunar Silver Star (Sega CD) for example was $100 when I was there (complete).

I also propose that from here on out the Gamestop/EB/Funcoland/Software Etc/Captron/Babbages conglomerate will now be known and referred to as the Evil Empire:)

Not sure if we have any World of Warcraft fans in here but:

Target on Tyrone Blvd has NO Burning Crusade Collector's Edition sets... I don't even think they got them in.

I got the last CE at Wal-Mart on Tyrone.

WoW CE was sold out at Best Buy, they only had enough for pre-orders, and Circuit City only got in FOUR copies that were sold out within 3 minutes. I was number 6.

Wal-Mart on 34th Street South, I couldn't even find any Burning Crusade's so I just assumed they sold out and left.

It seems like all of Saint Petersburg sold out within minutes... good luck to any WoW fans in Tampa Bay who didn't preorder and wanted this.

Good idea, Interbay will be ours:) Actually, it is a lucrative location (outside of being a shack, with Macdill AFB right there and no Evil Empire store for miles. With a discount for the military and advertisement in their newspaper along with service to UT, HCC, and USF (on Wednesday during the Bull Market), an independent store in that area could work well. The Interbay owner is at the Hillsborough drive thru Flea Market, however, that doesnt seem to be the right place to outrach to gamers.

Anyways, went to Rhino, not much there. If your looking for rares, they were bought out last night. The employees got their games, and a customer bought the leftovers. I was able to find PTO II, TMNT Hyperstone Heist, Batman Return of the Joker, and TMNT Tournament Fighters. The employee searched on the computer for in stock RPGs that I asked about (consisting of just about every Atlus game and Square/Enix/Sega RPGs and Konami games). They were all out. They havent started $2 games yet, and the PSOne/N64 games werent out yet. I expect Friday/Saturday to be the rollout, but that is just my guess as the employees didnt know that.

Everyone keep in mind there is a Rhino in Zephryhills, its a bit of a ride but you may be able to find stuff there. And if you go, pick me up something:)!

Wagonwheel FTW if you want a flea market that a ton of gamers go to. A guy I know built up such a loyal following with his saturday / sunday booth that he opened his own store and those same people (myself included) followed him there.

In the end, he picked a really horrible out of the way location and never advertised, so other than his regulars only little kids would trade in there.

Oh... yea it might have been him, he had a huge sale at the Wagonwheel a few months ago where he clearanced out a ton of stuff. His name was Mike, he called himself the Apeman, he used that sale to sell off the rest of his inventory. He was pretty tall, pretty ripped, had a goatee?

His store was very awesome, but he got in games like a week late and the kids traded in bad stuff. I remember once I bought Suikoden 2 at EB for like $50 or whatever, and sold it to him for $50 just so he could have something rare to bring in some customers.

The dude was very awesome... he left the wagonwheel because the owner started giving him a hard time for some reason so he stopped setting up the booth. He runs a karate business and, from what I remember last, it's really taken off.

I used to give him a ton of business.

Unless you are really hurting for a game, like I was for Genesis Batman Return of the Joker, then your really just going to another Gamestop that just happens to have old games. Now if the $2 sale starts, then thatll be worth the trip. I will call Friday to check, as by then, I expect the store to be set up and for them to want to have shelf space for all the current and last gen games.

I did find a Super Mario World for SNES (cart only) at a Goodwill for $1. I am trying to find cheap games to sell on ebay to raise enough money in Paypal to buy Castlevania Rondo Of Blood or Snatcher. My goal is to spend no more than $50 out of pocket for each of these games.

Forgeot to mention that I got my Neo Geo MVS cabinent last week. Guy replaced the screen, cleaned up the cabinent, cleaned the motherboard, switched out the buttons and joystick, and a whole bunch of other work. Dude is awsome and I ended up playing Samurai Shodown 4 and Fatal Fury Special for hours. There is nothing like playing a fighting game on a arcade cabinet. Outside chance of me doing a King of Fighters 02 or 03 tournament if I ever find a MVS cart cheap enough (have a offer on one now), even though I have it already on XBX. Anyone interested if I make this happen?

Well, we've gotten used to the "extra warm" tap water, 3-eyed fish, and glowing babies jokes. Besides, we make a fortune working at the plants.

FYI: Theres like 5 power plants in that complex. One nuclear, 2 coal burners, and 2 fuel oil burners. Horribly inefficient, but they were planned back in the Carter administration, so go figure.

Far as games go, there really isn't many deals unless the local pawn shops have a clearance for their "friends". There's an EB here at the mall, but they don't have to compete with anyone.

Usually I drive to Ocala for game deals, or when I visit my loved ones in Atlanta, I clean up on sweet deals in Norcross. Theres a Fry's, Best Buy, Circuit City, MicroCenter, and an EB's all in the same neighborhood, so they have about the cheapest deals in the whole country! Plus a few exits south on Jimmy Carter Blvd there's a row of "mom n pop" computer part stores packed together, making for fierce competition and cutthroat deals on usually overpriced components like video cards, memory and processors.

GinStar Computers usually wins the fight in case you're wondering.

Has anyone played MADDEN for the Wii?

As much as I hate madden football, this is actually quite fun, I rented it from blockbuster for free since I rent their movies online.

If anyone is interested and wants to have a Madden Wii tournament let me know, I will buy it, if enough people wanna enter. Prize would be whatever everyone paid to enter minus the cost of the game rental lol

Yea, that's him.

Are you him?
Heh, I reworded my question to sound better, but was too late. Of course I'm not him, then I'd know the answer. ;) However, he was in my crowd in high school (full disclosure: I'm old). The description you gave sounded a lot like him, so I asked on a hunch. Mike was a really cool guy, but I haven't talked to him in years. I've seen his name around a lot recently because he's always fighting in local and regional martial arts tournaments, and I see the fight advertising flyers at asian restaurants. I think his school is over on Central Ave. around 66th street; I'm glad to hear that it's doing well, he deserves it. I really need to go look him up sometime. :D

Yea, for awhile his school was small time, and he was doing the video game thing every Saturday and Sunday at the Wagonwheel.... he was doing great business there. Eventually, he decided to branch off into his own store, which lasted about... six months I think?

It was a combination of bad trade-in's, late product, no advertising, and then his karate school started taking off in a big way so he started hiring these doofus kids to work there who cared more about playing games then running the store. Eventually, he closed the store to work on his karate school the whole time because it started getting bigger while the video game store got smaller.

I'm not sure if he's at the 66th Street location anymore... I think he moved someplace even bigger. Awesome to hear he's doing fights and stuff, I always wondered what became of him, he was definitely a stand up guy and he was always down to talk about games and all sorts of stuff. But yea, lately it seems he's doing really successful for himself and he totally deserves it.

Martial Arts schools seem to be the big thing these days. My friend Justin runs a school in Pinellas county, and he has two friends from the area who he works with.

Of course, working at the plant no doubt leads to endless Homer Simpson jokes. ;)

This will get me banned I am sure, but I just came home from Interbay,
I told him about the information I have read on here, and he gave me the truth.

The charges against him are completly false and were made up by his brother in law, who he caught stealing boxes of computer equipment that was suppose to be shipped to customers. The owner was going to have him arrested but before he could the brother in law made up the story about his daughters.

As anyone with sense would know, if he actually did any of the charges he would be in jail not running around free running a video game store.

Also as for being a shack, I saw the store, doesnt look like a shack, it looks smaller inside then from the outside, the back half of the store is / was being used as an arcade area for video game tournaments.

As I have seen no one has actually been to this store on here, but otherguy.
He has been in business over 5 years now, so he must not be doing anything wrong to begin with.

I asked him about the preorders, he said everyone has either gotten their ps3 or gotten store credit. I couldnt ask about otherguys since, I doubt he put the reserve in his otherguy name. I asked him if everyone has been called and he said according to his employees they have been and if they havent been called have they called him?

I asked him about ignoring customers and playing video games, he said he has had many employees who he has fired over the years for not doing their jobs.
And if anyone had told him about any problems he would have given them store credit for future purchases.

Even otherguy said he had good stuff in there, and the owner wasnt giving him any problems.

Hope I dont get banned, but I didnt want to see anymore false information on here, about the last non gamestop.

While I disagree with the description of the place from the outside (although the Super Mario Painting is cool), I echo Monkeyballers sentiments on the owner being a pretty decent guy. However, I have not been called, I wouldnt have any ground to stand on if I had. I've called four times(!) and visited once since the preorder. That is my only beef with the store. When I post about the store, I post about my personal experiences and have been truthful about the store and my experiences, never insulting the owner. I would love to give positive word of mouth and support and independent gamestore, problem is that Interbay has not fullfilled any promises to me. I have friends that have visited the store and given me mixed reviews, however, none of these friends will go back because of my experience. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising, it can hurt the worst though if its negative. I would like to thank Monkeyballer for visiting though, do they have any PS3 games there? If so, maybe I would convert my $100 to credit, buy those, and be done with the ordeal.

I dont know, negative word of mouth from the existing business would hurt any store in that location.

If I were to open up a game store, hypothectically speaking, I would like it more in a more accessible area. The Macdill business must be pretty good, but it is only a matter of time until a Evil Empire store opens up there. The USF area has 2 gamestops already and it would seem the only safe place to open a store in the area would be in a centralized area of Tampa, or the Land O' Lakes area where the only competition is Gamerush and that upper income families are moving to by the Hillsborough/Pasco county line.

Wow, didnt know brothers in law can just get people arrested for grand theft, sexual battery of a minor, and other reasons. Must have some close connections with the cops.

Or it could be the same Kool-Aid that he offered when he said he was getting 25 PS3's in while making you sign a binding contract.

Trust me, its the jewish instict for him to try and protect his name to get you to spend money. Though i do find it kind of wierd that he could be arrested so many times and supposedly never convicted.

The grand thefts were because the brother in law stole the boxes of computer parts that were suppose to be sent for customers, thats where the grand thefts cames from, every time your arrested the same charges are booked against you until the charges are taken care of.

And as you clearly stated that its really strange he never was convicted of any of it, so lets move on, he obviously never did anything wrong to begin with.

Went to the Zeph. rhino today. They had some very good PS1 & DC games left. Lemme know how I did. I got:

DC:
Dead Or Alive 2 (complete, non-GH, F***ed up manual) $9.99
Grandia 2 (complete), free
Sould Caliber (complete, non-GH) 8.99
Resident Evil 2 (complete) free

PS1:
FF Chronicles (FF4 & Chrono Trigger, complete) $17.99
FF9 (complete, non-GH) Free

All prices are AFTER the 10% more card discount. Some other rare PS1 games I left were Ogre Battle limtied edition, FF Chronicles (FF1 & 2), Rapshody, and Street Fighter 3D. They had a box of SNES games that I saw them take to the back & were going thru, other than that, no rares there. Only 3 NES game left, nothing good. No rare Genesis either. No N64 at all, for some reason. The system prices were $14.99 for DCs (2 left), $12.50 for PS1s (3 left), & i heard them say that on Sat. All their PS1, DC, ect. acessories will b $5. Toys were also marked down, but with my LOTR & SOnic collections, i ain't got no room for em.

You did good on those sega dreamcast games. Very good indeed, were you able to use your eb/gamestop discount card and get 10% as well?

That might make me go to citrus park, I highly doubt it tho.

Those dreamcast system prices are remarkably low as well.

Finally made it to the Gunn Rhino, only to find out that they had 1 rare Genesis game left. They hadn't even put out the PS1 games yet, which kinda sux. Doubt they have FF7 tho. I just grabbed Phantasy Star 3 (cart) for
