Target on Waters has a few coppies of Geist & Odama at 12.48, and some Targets have Fire Emblem GBA for 7.48 if anyone is loking for them. The Geist & Odama aren't ringing up at the registers, so when they ask for the price, do you think I could get away with saying $6.48?

I officaly hate Rhino (or what used to be Rhino) now. I applied for a job there a week or so ago, and I was in there Friday to ask about it. Anyways, I went in there today, & the manager tells me they hired 2 new ppl, & their not really hiring at the moment. Then another guy that had been listening goes over to him & says he just heard us & wanted to know if they were hiring or not. Well, the manager says their loking for one more person & ask him to fill out an application... Neeless to say I was pretty pissed about that. I think it might have been because the other guy was a minority & they're all white ppl working there.

On another note, I turned 18 today & bought Disater Report & NSMB :D

I was offered $50 for my GC w/ Sonic Riders Skin, 2 copies of Harvest Moon (4.98 from Target Clearance), & the Gameboy Controller (looks like a SNES controller). Should I take it?

The EB in Citrus Park mall is participating in the B2G2F dvd sale. I bought 12 $5.99 dvds for $33 then traded them into FYE 100 ft from EB for $90 (6 $15 used dvds). Very effortless profit. I left quite a few $5.99 dvds that should qualify for FYE/Suncoast's deal. I'll be checking out the University Mall tomorrow.

Just came back from the Best Buy in Sarasota [Glengary Shoppes], most of the stuff has been weeded out already. Most of the GCN/DS/GBA/PSP/360 games have been bought, theres still a few copies of GTA games, but thats about it.

I picked up the last copy of MMBN 6 at my store though, so, at least I got one game on my list.

I was at the Saint Pete store buying a digital camera charger last night, and stopped to look at the games, and they had nothing on the list even out on the store floor.

Our store is notorious for buying everything for themselves so I just decided to say fuck it, I have better things to do. Nothing on the list appealed to me either, so that was the other part of it.

Sorry to double post. Was able to check out both the Citrus Park & Dale Mabry Best Buys. Nothing at the Dale Mabry, Citrus Park had Urbz NDS & Nanobreaker PS2. Urbz is $1.99 and worth $6 at FYE, so i traded a couple. There were still 6 left.

Just letting everyone know they opened a Moviestop in Parkside Mall... it looks like they are trying to turn that place into a replica of Largo Mall.

As for Moviestop, I finally went in because I was cutting down on my DVD's, awesome place... they changed the trade 4 deal a bit, but I was still able to get Borat, Peter Pan, and a preorder for Casino Royale all for free off of a ton of either a) shitty movies or b) scratched up Blockbuster movies.

I've had a MovieStop Gift Card for years that I still haven't used. I've been to the one by Westfield Shopping Town (Citrus Park Mall) a few times, but the movies are mostly overpriced. The only advantage to MovieStop is that they have a huge selection of DVDs you won't find in any other store.

The movies I bought, all brand new releases, were the same price at Best Buy / Circuit City.

They were $19.99 all the time, and "on sale" for $15.99.

Not overpriced at all, but I didn't look at everything... most normal movies were the usual price, it wasn't like FYE who wants $24.99 for a new release.

I consider that overpriced. Anything over $15 for a single DVD is just crazy. I also consider boxsets over $40 to be hugely overpriced. But that's just my opinion.

I know what you mean, though, when you mention FYE's prices. How they are still in business, with movies, music and games at as much as double retail, is beyond me.

Scored pretty good at the Rhino in Zephyrhills today. Since DC games r now 75% off, I drove up there and luckily they had about 25 games left. Got everything except any 2K1 or earlier sports game. total came to $22.20, roughly 1.17 per game.

Oh, and if anyone sees the clearanced Target Wii games (namely Monster 4x4) for under $25, PLMK.

Some bad news for anyone who liked to shop at Suncoast. Transworld decided it wasnt worth it to have two stores in the same mall. They closed down the University Mall Suncoast and transfered their stock & some of their employees to the Citrus Park & University FYE's.

Definately a big shame as Suncoast was the only Transworld store left in Tampa that knew how to run promotions right. The manager of the Suncoast declined to be transfered due to them wanting to cut her salary by 5 grand; so it looks like the bullshit policies FYE makes up will continue.

While I'm not interested in it myself (trying to save money to move out of this state), do you remember what condition it's in?

This is the one pawn shop in our city that is NOTORIOUS for overpricing games by a shitload... most of their PS2 games are $15 - $25 alone. Hell, once they were charging $20 for a used God of War, and like $30 for Virtua Tennis PSP.

At $25 for only a Wii game, and a newer one at that, I'd be surprised if it wasn't just case / game and the game was scratched. It just seems odd that they overprice everything so much except this one Wii game.

I used to go in this pawn shop all the time and find some good deals, but I guess they changed owners or management or something, because one day all the games rocketed up in price like crazy, so now I just avoid it.

They have this strategy guide on the bottom of the case that's been there for 3 years they won't lower the price on :rofl:

Oh, I probably would have jumped on it if I was there, it is a good deal, but it only being $25 makes me wonder what's wrong with it since that pawn shop charges outrageous sums of money for their games, on par or worse than what EB / GS charges.

They may not know what it is and think its a normal gamecube game. Ive gotten a few SNES games from this pawn shop for cheap (this may be the pawn shop I got my extra copy of Earthbound at) so it may be fine. I may go tomorrow and if its still there, try to talk them down to $15 -$20 and see if they take it.

For anyone who listens to my rants, here's another one. I bought 2 Wii poker games for 9.98 from Target today to trade in for the 2 for 1 wii deal at EB/GS/Rhino. I went to the rhino on Gunn. Here's how the convo went:

Me: I wanna trade these 2 wii games for SSX Blure
Her: They're still factory Sealed
Me: I'll unwrap them...
her: I can't take them. They might be stolen
Me: I've traded sealed games before (Taiko)
Her: I'm can't take them & you can't trade 2 of the same game.
Me: I knew Rhino would suck after GS bought them *leaves*

After that I went to the CP Gamestop 1/2 mile down the road, walked in, handed them the 2 games, got SSX, & left. Should I complain to GS about them not taking the sealed games?

The pawn shop on Nebraska just past Hillsborough has been getting some good games lately. I got Okami last week for 10 dollars. This week they had a ton of 360 games. I picked up Oblivion for 25. They had Prey, Dead Rising and Just Cause to name a few of those left. I was going to get Battle for Middle Earth 2 for 20 but the disc was cracked where the case holds the disc.
I found Dirge of Cereberus for 10 at the pawn shop on Nebraska just past Fowler.

I got them to pull up their clearance list (Feb 24th internal letter in their system). The barcode on the back of the game isnt for Urbz, but a generic one for the row of games it was sitting on. They had to get a manager to change the price to match what it was on the clearance list.

I did play 360 a ton, and it broke, so I'm dumping it... I'll wait until they can build a more stable system. I just sold the last of the 15 + games I had for it.

In the meantime I'll play Wii, DS, PS2, and PSP... I'm also building a killer PC which is going to put the 360 to shame ;)

Didnt make it to the henderson store location or the one on Gandy. The biggest sale was 50% off, and said it didnt include 360, wii, or ps3. Also they had a buy 2 get 1 free sale. Prices were pretty silly. Seen better prices at pawn shops.

Not everyone goes to Pinellas to shop, in case you people didnt know its over 10 miles to drive to civilization from Tampa, to Game stores over the bridges. Only stores in St Pete are the Monopoly known as Gamestop or owned by Blockbuster, these are not game stores, these are crooks!

Overly priced on some items, but wide assortment of video games, Magic Mall at Waters and Florida ave. Ask for Sammy, he is next to a gold place. Saw a video rental place on Sligh and Florida, do not know if they had video games due to the fact they are never open when I go by, there is a blockbuster on the other side and a Hollywood video as well.

Clearance prices aren't in effect at our Gamerush's... I just went and checked them out as soon as they opened.

For those that are wondering, I hit up two Gamerush's, the one on 9th Street N and the one on Park.

The one on Park sucks for PS2 games... don't even bother going for that, and I got the last copy of Metal Gear Portable Ops there (even though it didn't yet ring up on clearance).

The one on 9th has Yakuza, and I bought the last copy of Suikoden V... they have a shitty selection of PSP games too.

I didn't look at any Xbox / 360 stuff since I was in a rush, but the one on 9th did have a copy of Full Auto, which I think will be $10 once the clearance starts.

But yea, everything was still full price.

I scored a Guitar Hero 1 bundle ($35) at the 49th Street Game Rush in St. Pete. Don't know if this was common knowledge or not. Checked that store, the 4th Street store and also the one down south on U.S. 19. Not much to speak of at the other locations. Seem to be a few Just Causes around the town, but I don't know if that's worth $25.

The Magic Mall guys has been there for ages and has been outstanding. He owns another stand at a Atlanta shop and will bring games from Atlanta back if he asked as he travels a lot (if this is the same guys). I got 2 cheapass complete SNES rares from him (he will lower prices).

There is another guys that runs at stand at the flea market on the corner of Fowler and Pimp street (Nebraska). Guy is overpriced, but does get rares in (Recents I have seen there Ninja Gaiden 3 $15 Cart Only, Tech Romancer $25 complete, Lodoss War $20). I've only bought from him a few times (Gunstar Heroes with Box no manual $10 GEN) so you can find steals some times.

I tried to buy one of the games and the manager said that since the SKU didnt match, he couldnt sell the game at the clearance price.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt that called Bait & Switch? From how i see it. They "bait" you in with the clearance prices in their list. Then switch up the price when you get to the register. Definately fishy. I sent an email to their CS, but i doubt that'll get me far. Anyone know any numbers other than the 888-Bestbuy to call?

Stop buying from stores that dont sell games at the prices they list, dont go to stores that have bad track records selling games not as advertised. I knew a store that always had sales on games and honored their prices. ___________ I heard on the internet that GS and from an inside source locally that there will be a special trade in your core or premium 360 when the elite comes out and there will be a huge deal.

No problem. They had a restock, so there were a couple other games i was getting as well. I think what i need to do is cutout the middleman and just go straight to the register and tell them its on the clearance list. Thats what i did the first time and it worked with no questions asked (they just called a 'supervisor' to okay the price changes). I'll probably try my luck later this week when that manager isnt working. If it happens again, ill definately take names.

Mine recently crapped out on me, so I sent it to MS to get it repaired, and well, I'm done with it, at this point. The only other system to break on me was my Xbox, as well, so I'm going to stop this trend right here and just sell it as soon as it gets back.

Might be a longshot, but does anyone know any smaller computer shops around here that might sell a Windows Vista Home Premium OEM? I wanted to get it this weekend, so I was hoping there was a local shop I could buy a copy off of - that's how I ended up with my XP OEM from back in the day.

The store around here I got my XP OEM from years ago is sadly no longer there =/

For anyone interested, The Dale Mabry Best Buy had 4 of the Far Cry games for Wii, plenty of original GGC's (couldnt find the WoW ones anywhere).

The Super Target accross the street had 2 Xbox Live 12 month packs (original xbox live cards, im sure they work the same as the 360 ones) for $35 each. Didnt pick anything up, figured someone on here might want it more.

I notice a Beatmania & controller there, so I take it up to buy it. The controller has no price tag, so the guy says it's probably areound $5-$10. He looks & loks for a price, but can't find one. I ask him "Can't you just type in a price?". He replies "Why would you want this anyways? I can't find a price". After that, he puts it on the floor beside the register & I just leave.

It works on new release boxsets also. I did the trade 4 deal on JLU Season 2 & Batman Beyond Season 3 about a month ago. I'll probably do it again for Scrubs Season 5 when it comes out. I went today, and the Largo location had about 7 copies of Venture Bros Season 2 and all the other movies, so I dumped 12 movies, got $60 in credit, and used a leftover $5 credit to get Spider-Man 2.1, Smokin Aces, and Venture Bros Season 2 for free.

I grabbed a copy of their new release list for the rest of my 30 - 40 DVD's ;)

I'll probably trade them all at the closer Pinellas Park store.

Yeah outfield tickets at the Trop are better than any other ballpark Ive been at (Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium) and being a Red Sox fan, I enjoy seeing home games in Tampa for a fraction of the cost. The Rays have put out such a miserable product on the field that almost any team they play has a home crowd (unless its opening day).

Greetings all. My 19 month old just scratched my new copy of Super Paper Mario to hell. Contacted Nintendo about their disc replacement scheme...they want $25 for the privilege! Ouch.

So, I thought the Citrus Park Moviestop had a disc repair machine, but no luck. Does anyone know of anyplace in the area I could get this thing repaired on the cheap? The scratches are fairly deep, so I don't know if one of those wipes at gamestop would even work...

Hollywood video does resurfacing for $1. Not sure if they do it for games as well as dvds (essentially all current gen games are dvds anyways), but it'd be worth a shot.

Most of those repair kits are only good for surface scratches.

Bad news, the disc was scratched too badly to play. Worse news, the Wii is now locking up on me.:wall:

However, the light at the end of the tunnel is that Nintendo is going to repair the system AND replace the disc for free.

They are in the Playstation 2 case, right next to the PS3 demo unit. Just make sure your copy doesn't have a tear in the shrinkwrap, like mine, it's going to be a bitch trying to return this brand new one to EB for my $10 back.

But they are marked $19.82 and ring up $19.82, awesome deal!

Someone really blew the $19.99 / $9.99 after coupon Fox DVD sale at the Saint Pete Best Buy.

Long story short, they have signs up saying they won't honor any coupons or anything else on the $19.99 DVD's that will make them below $19.99.

In addition, they have some bullshit up about how The Shield isn't part of the sale :roll:

My gf got lucky and convinced the cashier to not only ring out The Shield (it rings up fine at $19.99) but use the coupon - other people might not be as lucky, and might want to hit a different a Best Buy.

I'm thinking someone must have either bought a *ton* of DVD's, or raised a ruckus about the coupon, because this seems to be the only Best Buy to catch on to the point where they have signage of it up at the store. Moviestop, especially if you want to put them towards a new release (Trade 4, get any new release for free or $20 credit towards a box set).

They usually give $2 - $3 credit per DVD, too, if you're just trading them in regularly... I think they give cash too but it's like 20% less for cash.

You can try a pawn shop but you'd probably be lucky to get $1 per DVD.

I have dumped at least 100 DVD's at Moviestop every week for new releases, so it worked out nicely for me. Just did my last 4 the other day to put $20 towards Psych Season 1.

Depending on the DVDs, FYE. Secondspin.com has the price checker that FYE uses for dvds/games. Add either 20% onto that for cash price, or 45% for store-credit.

In case anyone wants some "free" rz certificates. Best buy on Dale Mabry has plenty of the Movie Gift cards with the "Buy 2 $14.99 or higher dvds and get 6,000 reward zone points" coupons. The 6,000 reward points equals $120 in RZ certificates (well worth the $30 spent). It says one coupon per household, but you can always just make another RZ account with a neighbor's address (if you choose to get RZ certs by email the physical address only matters for 10-12% off coupons).

They also had plenty of the original GGC's with the $5 off $19.99. Both coupons expire 6/30, so hurry people!

TRU in Saint Petersburg has a copy of Lumines 1 for PSP for $13 - this is selling on Ebay right now for at least $50, last I checked, so some entrepeneur can scoop this up.

They also have TONS of Lumines 2 for $9.98, as well as Gunpey, Untold Legends and Death Jr. I managed to grab the very last Syphon Filter Dark Mirror - one last goodbye to an area full of awesome deals.

Sure half of the stuff may be considered high (I think it's fairly reasonable) but it beats running all over the place every weekend just to find a great deal and ending up wasting even more money in gas. It's better than the internet because there's no waiting.

I'm just bummed in general that there are no retro shops around anymore. Funcoland used to be awesome and then Babbages/GameStop bought them out and they don't even exist anywhere. Some areas have retro shops and other areas just don't. I knoew of 3 places easily up north that sell all of this stuff and for super cheap.

Most pick them up randomly, a pawn shop that has historically not sold them will pick them up in a lot. You have to hit at the right time. A good example is that I got a cart only Super Mario All Stars and a cart only Mega Man X2 randomly at a pawn shop yesterday.

I hit the shops randomly, 1x or 2x every 2 weeks. I work in South St. Pete, so if leave 15 minutes early, I can hit several pawn shops. SNES, Genesis and older are hit or miss, although I saw them at every pawn shop on Nebraska Ave today that I hit. That doesnt mean they'll be there tomorrow, as they're are quite a few ebayers who hit the shops for SNES games. When you go around the shops for awhile you'll start to spot them. I asked a guy one time if he was on CAG and he laughed at me.

The flea market is still ripe with game deals, just have to be willing to look. If you are looking for ANY mainstream console hard to find games, check out the guy across from the DVD/VHS booth. He is the one who sold me a Flawless PDS, and while he charges close to ebay fees on a lot of games, his games are in great shape, and overall he is cheaper than ebay. Check him out as he does give deals , he sold me Neo Nectaris for cheap and that is a $30 plus ebay game (although neither of us knew that when I was buying it). PDS cost me $120 and copies of that caliber are close to the $200 mark (at least they were when I bought it).

that's true, and I agree 100% that flea markets are for good deals on "junk" (and $125 is crazy for Suikoden 2, I cant find the post you found that in but thats nuts). I was saying that if you still cant find something (meaning rare), this is the guy to see. Some games you are not going to find a amazing deal on, in that kind of case this is the guy to see as he charges less than average price and does give good deals for what games he has. I think my $120 for PDS (Panzer Dragoon Saga) was amazing (especially since I was about to BIN for $180 plus shipping at the time), and most all of his games are flawless.

Hollywood Video is having their 4 for $20 sale again (9.99 & under games). I recommend anyone with one nearby check out. Today at the Citrus Park one I found Mr. Mosquito, REmake, SvC Chaos, and Pro Cast Fishing for $20.

On another note, Gamestop screwed up for the better for me :D . I went in there a week ago to trade some games in for Rock Band preorder (which I was supposed to get an extra 10% (or $6 in my case). I actually ended up going out last night and made a couple of good finds at Hollywood Video. I got a complete Rez at the Tyrone location for $24.99, and a complete Marvel vs. Capcom 2 XB at another location for $19.99. The MvC2 was actually a rental copy, and I asked if they do anything similar to Blockbuster where you can rent and then buy a game. The clerk said no, but that since nobody ever rents the game and they had two copies, he let me buy it for the price they charge if it's lost. I got the impression that he wasn't supposed to do that. He even dug out a proper XBox case for me.

The Rez is practically mint, but the MvC2 has a lot of small scratches (it plays fine). I'm not going to mention the location where I got MvC2, in case the clerk could get in trouble for it. Oh, and the Tyrone location had 3 more copies of Rez, but they're all disc only.

I picked up a 3D0 Last weekend at the pawn shop for only 30 bucks. It came with Dragons Liar as well. Now if only i could find a pawn shop that sells SNES's for cheap id be SO set. Also i picked up Halo 2 for only 5 bucks which for me is a steal since its like 20 used at GS/EB. This was at Stop and Pawn on Route 54

Per request, here's my report on the Play N Trade that just opened up in Brandon for anyone who wants to go.

Compared to GS, the prices aren't much different. For example, Mario Kart DD is 29.79 and used is 26.99. The older games, such as Genesis, SNES, and PS1 are a little overpriced, IMO. Sonic 2 was $10 and Zelda LTTP was $20. The thing I am worried about is their plan to get older games. They had about 10 Gen games, 10 SNES games, and 5 PS1 games. When I asked where all the DC games were, he said that they're gonna sell what people trade in, which probably won't be much. Hopefully I'm wrong.

On the plus side, the employees there are very firendly. They will let you try out any game before you buy. They also have a 10% off card like GS. Oh, and they do resurfacing for $3 per game. After looking around, all I bought was DKC for SNES for $5.

Well, it sounds like it could be interesting in the future, but maybe not until they've had some time to build up some stock. I Googled their phone number, and I might call them soon and see if they give trade quotes over the phone.
