Still, it's the principal. I hate the way pawnshops do business. If it wasn't for decent cheap games I wouldn't be caught dead at those scumbag places.

I have an even bigger extreme hatred for pawn shops now. When my apartment was robbed, a ton of my stuff showed up in pawn shops and the owners wouldn't tell me who they bought it from and the police said I didn't have proof that it was my stuff that was stolen, so they wouldn't investigate it further. The pawn shop owners are usually extremely defensive about questions since they know most of their stuff is likely stolen. Pawn shops are just a haven for criminals to unload their stolen stuff.

I was at the Cash America at 34th St. and 54th Ave. N. today, and I asked how much PS2/XB games are selling for. The guy said usually around $5-15, but that they look the games up on the GameStop website, then price them a little lower. I hope that doesn't become a trend.

Thats the one that I found a $2 Earthbound at, so at least they are checking ebay like Southern Pawn does. I went there and saw a complete MKT for Saturn and they checked the ebay prices and quoted me a price that had no bids.

What do you all think would be a good asking price for a Wii with only 30 or so hours of use, comes with controller (w/ rechargable battery/charger), nunchuck, official component cables, and Wii Play?

It pains me to get rid of it after spending 4 hours in the cold on launch day to get it, but i rarely use it (hence the 30 hours of use since November). I'm thinking of trying to sell it here or Craigslist first, then if i have no luck, ebay. I think $225 sounds good. Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

A few months back I found two black label copies of FFVII for $5 each at the same pawn shop (the one next to the Kmart on 34th St. S. in St. Pete). Only one of them had the manual, but they were both in excellent condition other than the one missing manual. The clerk told me that he knew I was going to sell them on eBay, and that I could easily get $300 each for them. :rofl: While he was wildly off on the dollar amount, he obviously knew they were valuable, so I wonder why he didn't eBay them himself?

Took a trip to Lakeland today. If any of you visit there, I highly suggest going to FYE and Sears.

FYE was 50% off all their games, and they had stuff like Spider-man 3 (360) for $21, Madden 08 (Ps3) for $21, Harry Potter and Transformers for $30, and tons of $40 PSP games for $20.

Sears was 50 to 75% off on their games. I managed to get 2x DDR Mario Mix, Pokemon XD, Tiger Woods 06 (360), Rumble Roses XX, MGS3:S, Battlefield 2 (360), DKC 2 (GBA) and Da Vinci Code for $90 total.

Oh, and if any of you remember me telling you about that overpriced mom n pop store, they raised their prices to insane levels (i.e. $35 for cart-only Mario World)

Oh and one other thing I forgot to mention. TRU on Fowler is closing after the end of October. If this is anyhting like when the one on Dale Mabry closed, all games and accessories (as well as toys) will be 10% off the 1st 2 weeks, then 20 the next 2 weeks and so on until they reach 50%.

Just depends on where you go really. I usually just hit up random pawn shops in my area. It's hit or miss, mostly miss. I did score a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 ps2 version for 15 bucks and a FFII snes for 5 so you can get lucky.

The Cash America on Armenia got in a whole stack of PS1 games. Unfortunatly, the only good ones were Parastie Eve (GH, complete), RE Director's Cut (no manual, no demo), and Dino Crisis 2 (complete).

If anyone has an extra manual or demo for RE:DC, I'll be more than happy to buy or trade for it.

Its finding it at a pawn shop thats gonna be the problem. With EB is more of a convenience thing.

I have decided something. I am going to sell all of my games that I don't play and am never going to play again. I just don't have the room to keep them and I'm tired of looking at them just sitting there. I will still go around to pawn shops and stores looking at games and reporting what stores have on here, just not buying any unless I am either going to play them or flip them (them being games at pawns). The games I'm going to be selling include 70+ xbox games, 5 PS2 games, 4 GC games, 2 DS games, 4 PSP games and 2 UMDs, 5 GBA/GBC games, 11 N64 games, and a few SNES/NES/Gen/CD/32X/DC games. I was already headed to Tampa today so I hit the EZ Pawn today, but the SNES games were already gone. I did get a Dreamcast console with two controllers, a VMU, and Sonic Adventure for $14.99 total, so it wasn't a complete loss. The bundle also included Final Fantasy IX for some bizarre reason; all four discs are there, but no manual and the case is crappy.

AND to make matters worse my wife goes "Can we see the SNES games" And of course his answer "Sorry but im the only person here i cant do that." Are you kidding me? Yeah, I was in there a few weeks ago. They have ridiculous prices on N64 games too. I remember common games like Excitebike 64 were something like $20-25. It's like they priced the games based on eBay values from around 1999.

Finally got to play my Castlevania Rondo of Blood on Duo. For anyone who hasn't played it yet, get Dracula X Chronicles on PSP when it comes out. The game is as great as advertised and completely blows away the SNES Dracula X, which really is quite different (The graphics are like night and day). The big surprise for me of the Duo is graphics are actually really good overall, I didn't know the Duo could handle SNES/Sega CD visuals, but it does an amazing job.

Do not know about clearance prices at FOWLER TRU, just was told they are NOT CLOSING FOR REMODELING, but they will be closing and moving to WESLEY CHAPEL. They said around the end of the month.

I do know they hardly have any Wii games, when I called about Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, they didn't have it, nor did the Brandon one. Called about several other games, and no dice.

I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to have a Brawl/Rock Band party in December with all my friends and invite ppl from here. We ususally have Melee parties with about 15 people, but I want something bigger (at least 30 ppl) next year. Since it was pushed back to February, I guess it'll wait. Just as well, My Birthday is 9 days after Brawl comes out, so some of you can come play us and bring me presents ;)

I was at the one on 34th St. S. in St. Pete today, and they didn't have it that I could see. They did have three big boxes of Guitar Hero III, with stickers on the boxes saying not to sell before 10/28/07. I was there looking for an Xbox 360 Arcade console, but they're apparently not even in the system.

Does anyone know of any decently priced trading card shops in Tampa? Unfortunately, Wonder Water isn't going to be carrying the Eye Of Judgement booster packs. The only other card shop i can think of is the one on 41 & 54, but IIRC, that place was a ripoff. There are quite a few sites that have the booster boxes for as low as $85, but theyre marked as pre-orders... I'd prefer to get them cheaper than the $3.60 a pack that Gamestop has em for. If anyone sees any of the cards at any Blockbusters, please let me know. Hope someone can help me.

There were games for pretty much all systems. some I saw were DOAX2, DJ Icon, Sonic Rush, Farcry (wii), Monster Madness, and a lot more. Another weekend in Orlando, another Final Fantasy VII. This is like the second time in a row that I found one on a trip up there (and third overall). It like it grows on trees up there, but no other valuable games, although I did find a second Zelda's Collector edition.

So how far is everyone in Super Mario Galaxy? I am 19 stars in and its really growing on me. I started out the first night not really liking it, but getting by the first few starts and seeing a variety of levels has really helped. It may better that Mario 64. It also is turning into a throw back to Super Mario 3, which is my favorite Mario game. I like it so much that I may take the fat acrobatic plumber with me on vacation.

Got back to Tampa today, anyone have any luck on Black Friday Deals? I was in Connecticut and didn't arrive to stores until almost 9am and every store had everything I wanted. It was nuts, none of that crap would have lasted more than 5 minutes here in Tampa. Every $5 game was there, Target still had the $90 8.2 digital Camera, Best Buy still had the doorbusters and I was even able to get a $35 authentic Paul Pierce Jersey (best deal of the day), which was amazing considering how popular any Boston team is in New England (think UF vs FSU rivalry and pump it by 10x and that is a fraction of how New Englanders care about the 1) Red Sox, 2) Celtics, 3) Patriots, and 4) Bruins. Through in UCONN in there for good measure).

I wanted to buy more, however, I didn't bring enough cash and was expecting stores to be out of everything. My gf got me a 80 gig IPOD at a CC up there (for our anniversary) and said it was really cheap, but wouldn't tell me how much.

And if you have never been to Gamecrazy, they are awsome stores, was very impressed by the one I went too. I only went to one, if I had more times I would've went to a bunch looking for classic plastic and rares.

Just got back from going out in Daytona. I could not find Silent Hill 3, Ill keep my eyes open for it. I did manage to snag a Remy and Yang resin statue at the flea market for $5 total. Video games wise I got

Dune and Tactics Ogre came from a video game store, one of the best I have ever seen. Rares were lower than ebay value (!) and they knew how much Tactics Ogre was worth, but still let it go for $17. The also had a complete Project Justice ($35), most used PS3 games for $25, Dragon Quest Joker ($23, didn't have enough cash but almost bought this), $4 almost any game boy/color game, $10 used 1st gen 360 games. If I brought more money I would've bought a lot more.

The current rate of credit is currently $10 cash for every $35 credit, you can turn $20 into $70 per individual store, per day. The only real limitation is the stock of Best Buy, lol.

You may be better using the 30% bonus coupon to move some of that credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop. You will probably ake a bit of a loss (10-20% max) but it should still even out to a decent profit.

Or, do what I used to do, buy Wii's and DS Lites, those things sell for retail if not more, especially with christmas two weeks away. The only problem with this method is, that cash is a lot harder to spend when you consinder rather than credit which can only be used there, you can use cash to pay your bills, buy food, etc.

Mine was mostly generated with Kmart flip games, so it cost me jst under fifty cents on the dollar. That's not nearly as well as people are doing right now with Beowulf. I thought about trading some of those, but I was starting to get snarky comments from GR clerks about how much/how often I trade, so I think I'm laying low for a while. I probably should have converted that credit to GameStop with the Halo 3 and coupon method, but I've been too busy the past three days to have enough time to do so. If the same situation happens again next week (GS coupon + Halo 3 price holds at GS) then I probably will.

That's a good point, I could flip a few DS Lites and get an Elite elsewhere with the cash. I already flipped a Wii from GR for $300 a month ago (I should have held on to it!), and I've been sitting on that cash for VG purchases. Sadly, Pinellas GRs haven't gotten any Wiis for a couple of weeks.

I don't understand what you're saying. Blockbuster and GameRush are the same, and the credit from one store can be used at the other. Are you saying that you had the credit put on your account at Blockbuster, instead of putting it on a card? If so, you can probably have them move it to a gift card so that you can take it to a GameRush.

On the Tampa side of the bay, you have GR stores in Land o' Lakes and Wesley Chapel if I remember correctly. There's also a GameRush on Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. in Clearwater, and another one on Enterprise Rd. near Countryside Mall if you don't mind crossing the Courtney Campbell Causeway to use your credit.

Oh, that sucks. Whenever I've traded at a new store, I've always asked about putting it on a card before going through with the transaction. You might try going in when there are different employees, or when the store manager is working. I've sometimes found that the store manager is the only person at a location who knows how to put credit on a card.

yup, guy has a lot of old games. I was going to buy a few SNES games from him, but I will wait a few weeks and see what else I want. For any comic fans, I also got a Uncanny X-Men 117 NM for $13 signed by John Byrne (sadly no COD, but it is his auto as it matches a non X book auto of his I have). That was a huge deal to me as that is the quintensential X-men run.

One of my Secret of Manas (cart only) will prob go on sale or up for trade. Its my 3rd copy, so if anyone has a TL and is interested, PM. Im starting to unload most of my triples (doubles will be trade fodder for games I missed last gen), through sales or trades for older games. 95% of my duplicates arent on my games list yet, but will be within a week if anyone wants to take a look at what I have before I unload. Got another Earthbound ($15, cart only, now on tradelist) this weekend along with Nightshade ($2), Street Fighter Collection 2 ($3, comp) and some movies.

There is a complete 3DO at the Value Pawn on Nebraska Ave in Seminole Heights. I already have one and I believe it was expensive but def worth checking it as its the first one I have seen in Tampa in a long time

There is a complete Bushido Blade 2 (disc has scratches) at the Cash America on Hillsborough in Town and Country

Lyric, you may be able to find Final Fantasy VII at a flea market. The guy at the flea on the corner of Fowler and Neb may have one, but he is expensive and sells at ebay (or even higher sometimes). He usually has one in stock, though.

So, I realize this is probably sacrilege, but after messing with Super Smash Bros Brawl for a week, I am just not digging it. Don't get me wrong, it is obviously a very polished product. However, I primarily play single player games (Super Mario Galaxy, etc), and only play multiplayer with my young sons (6 and 2). SSB Brawl is a little too difficult/hardcore for them, and I just don't want to invest the time to 'master' it, if I am only going to play single player.

Anyway, when I contact Gamestop (where I bought it), the trade in value for it is only $30! I could try to unload it on eBay, but don't know what my luck would be there, either.

Does anyone have any ideas for the best way to unload this thing?

BTW, I considered taking it to a wal mart or something, try to claim it was damaged to get another copy, but I bet they would open the shrink wrap of the new one.

I think Smash Brothers is a love/hate game. I didn't like the N64 one, but Melee was great and Brawl is outstanding. I got it early and had a pretty good time unlocking everything (minus some cheapo deaths/matches). And does anyone else think that Uematsu track rocks, def going on my IPOD and one of his best non FF original tracks. I like to hear a Black Mages remix.

Greetings from Lakeland..... i'm just kinda upset with the stores in my area , 2 Targets , 1TRU , 1BB , 1CC , and the rest are not even worth mentioning , but i will , they are 3 WM's , 1 sears and 1 sears essentials (formerly K mart).

Anyway the Targets are the best place to get clearance items , but sometimes they take a long time to drop the prices (like right now , i've been waiting for Strangehold and Crackdown to drop to the 15 dollars range for over two weeks)

Then we got Best Buy and Circuit City , they are both about the same..... you can hardly find anythind from the markdowns reported here..... you might find one here and one there and you gotta look really good , not good but not bad either...
Them Wally Marts... they fucking suck .... they got stuff on clearance for months , they mark it down one time and that's it they just wait to see if some one buys it , they take 3 dollars off of a $20 item and they call it clearance , They have a MAX Memory from Datel for the DS for $35.00 and it's been sitting at that store forever I'll say for more than 6 months (i'm sure it's more like a year ... but , not sure) ... the bottom line.... WALMART SUCKS!!!!
At the Sears ..... I've never got anything from the clearances posted here.... maybe the employees grab them before the customers can.

And then we have a few Pawnshops (that's where I get most of my games )
we got 2 Value pawns , 1 Cash America and then some others that are not that big and they look at you funny when you walk in there and ask for videogames (bunch of fucking rednecks) .....
So I've got some very good deals (on games for PS2 and 360 ) at the Value Pawns , and at the Cash America


But what I've been looking for are 1 ds lite (any color , but don't want a beat-up DS ) found one the other day for $69.99 but it was all scratched up and looked like it had been drop more than a couple of times , and the ones that look like new or almost new they sell them for $119.99 , ($10.00 under the MSRP) WTF!!!!!

Another Item I've been looking for is a PSP and again the pawn shops they think that's like made out of GOLD or something , scratched up PSPs , sometimes w/o the charger for the same price.... $129.00 (sometimes $119.00) .......

I'm sorry .... this is like the longest post I'ever done anywhere , but I had to let it all out.

Burns is VERY FANCY although worth it. If you do Burns make sure it's not Side Burns (the less fancy place). The atmosphere of Burns is worth it alone (but dress up) and make sure you go upstairs for dessert. It's like an old haunted mansion inside and the dessert room is like some sacrifical/cannibal chamber. But trust me it's super cool.

I'm not sure where you're staying but here's a list of my local favorites:

Carraba's (Everywhere) - (excellent Italian), try their White Sangria and Muscles.

Bahama Breeze (Clearwater) - (not possbile to order something bad here). My favorite appetizers are the Jamacian Jerk Chicken Wings & Coconut Shrimp (everything is good).

BJ's Brewhouse (Citrus Park Mall & Tyrone/Largo ??? Mall) - Excellent micro brews with a TON of excellent food. A sports bar atmosphere with a menu so huge it will take you a while to place your order. I've never seen a menu this robust before. I have been driving to the Brandon area from time to time just to get some cheap ass games , last one i got was BIOSHOCK ($20) I had to drive to the FYE in the Brandon mall and got the last one ( called ahead and asked if they had it and ask for them to hold it for me ) there's 2 FYE in Lakeland one doesn't sell games and the other had very few and the clerk there said they will stop selling games .
Anyway.... the best places here are the pawn shops , but I check them almost daily , I got , most recently God Of War II for $10.00 , Marvel Alliance and Forza 2 (both in the same case) for 12.99 [FORZA 2 <~~~ great game!!!] and a bunch of other games (mostly ps2 , a few 360) for cheap.

And like you said , I only buy games that I know me or my daughter will play , if you're looking for a specific game , let me know.

I've done well in Lakeland on a few occasins, best deal was a $2 disc only Suikoden 2 that I talked down from $5 and that was pretty recent. A few weeks ago I got a cart only Knuckles Chaotix for $2 and a Complete Flashback Sega CD for $2. I also practically completely bought out the Rhino in Auberndale out of all their classic games. It was an absolute amazing haul of rares and hard to find games for SNES/GEN/DC. I actually did not think there was much competition in Lakeland, however, it appears I was wrong.

And yes, Game Attic is way overpriced, but they fixed my PC Engine Duo-R for $30 (which would have been shipping back to Japan). I was in there a few weeks back looking at imports and they had a PS2 Marvel vs Capcom 2. They were talking about the amount of "credit" they gave for the game and the guy asks how much to sticker it. The manager said $130 and the guy said okay, I already stickered it $180. The manager said that $180 was fine and they had a good laugh. My gf and I walked out of there disgusted after that, and I was about to buy some DC imports if I didn't hear that conversation.

In the event that you have time to go to Ybor City (Ybor is right next to downtown, and there are streetcars running between Channelside/the Forum and Ybor until 2am) try the Columbia Restaurant (http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/). It's one of the best restaurants in the bay area, and has been around since 1905. It's a must if you like Cuban/Spanish food.

There are a lot of good resterants in general at Centro Ybor and Channelside, if you like Deli's don't forget to check out Lucky Dil in downtown, not to far from the Forum. Have fun watching Gino's team win the Final Four. I'm from Connecticut and the man is a legend up there.

Also International Plaza is very close to the airport with a ton of excellent dining (Cheesecake Factory and Capital Grill as well as a slew of others).

Just down the street (Westshore Blvd.) from International Plaza is Westshore Mall with a PF Changs and Magianos Italian as well as a couple steak places. There's also a strip club on westshore that supposedly serves a killer steak. Haven't tried it myself but people say it's pretty good. There's even two more steak places across the street from INT. Plaza, a Roys and I think a Sam Seltzers.

Nah, not at the moment, and if I did, to be honest, I'd just Ebay most of it to save time ;) I've got more than enough current generation games and imports to last me quite awhile, lol. The only thing I'm really back to "collecting" is shmups and fighters, but those were the games I never sold, so it's just adding onto what I've got.

Does anyone know some place in town that takes in old strategy guides for cash or anything? I have about 100 guides, most of them are worthless crap like Ultimate Spider-Man and MoH Airborne, ones that won't sell on Ebay for even 99 cents. Salvation Army or anything won't take them, because there is simply *too many*!! Any ideas? I'm just thinking of trashing them all, but I want to know if there is a book store or chain around here that would take them all in, even 25 cents per book would be ideal.

We didn't have Sears in Long Island at all when I was there... well, we had one, I think, but it had no video game section at all!

The good games are long gone. Sears Essentials does have the same prices, but they're usually cleaned out pretty quickly too.

There is surpringsly a good amount of RPG guides still left even after I grabbed 12 more out of this stack to put up on Ebay, simply because I had 12 leftover boxes.

Like I wrote to lyric, since the guides are decidingly of good quality, I'd rather sell them, but I'm going to let whoever wants them just throw out a fair price, I'm not going to be picky at all. Hell, even $1 a guide works for me.

I forgot I had a tote full of decent guides, which was my problem =X

I just wanted to know what are the major video game areas here as well as the local game stores, so I have an idea what I can shop. Is there a gamecrazy, fry's, gamerush, meyers, any of that b/c I had none in my city so it'd be cool to be available to more VG stores.. also missing any major retailers? Thanks!!

There is no real local game stores here... I think there is a Play N Trade on Dale Mabry now, though I haven't been.

No Gamecrazy (but we had one in NY... it really sucked, you're not missing much), no Meyers, only a Gamerush... but tons of Best Buy's, Circuit City's, EB's, Gamestop's. I never had a problem finding a deal here because there is a lot of stores to choose from.

I liked the campus at USF a lot, I plan on going back there in the Fall.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that the Cash America on 34st S and um... some avenue (it's next to the K-Mart and the Wal-Mart, I don't know what Ave unfortunately, just how to get there lol) has a PSP for $100.

It *looks* like a PSP Slim, it says it's PSP 2001, not sure if it gets comes with a mem card but it has the charger, and the screen looks like it's in really good shape. $99.99 isn't a bad price at all.

I got a Gears of War for 360 there for $20! It was complete and in surpringsly excellent condition.
