I know it sounds stupid, especially since I work with x-rays. I want to take my xbox with me to ohio but Im worried about it being damaged by the bag check.
Has anyone put thier system through the x-ray machines? Does it cause damage to the hard drive? Last time I went (without the system) they requested everyone to put thier laptops out for an inspection instead of going through the x-ray machine.

I might just end up mailing it to my destination.

Id call and see what there policy is, since im sure each airport operates business differently. Hope things work out for you.

My laptop always gets sent thru x-ray no problem. My PS2 with memory cards go thru no problem.

From all the stuff Ive learned about x-rays. Im pretty sure its a flouroscope (high dose constant radiation) . Thats why they dont put film inside it since the photons will expose the film. Ive just never experimented with a hard disc. Before. I'll give them a call.

I have and had no problems. think about it if you can take a lap top computer .... well an xbox has essentially the same components, i did cary it on though due to the hard drive ..... you know how airlines are throwing crap around i wouldn't trust them w/ anything w/ a hard drive.

I took my PS2 from Tallahassee, FL to Atlanta, Georgia to San Franciso, California to Taiwan. I also took it back the same way just reverse the order, and didn't really get any problems. One place did ask me what it was and I replied PS2 and the security guys were like (with a smile) "Oh yeah! I love the PS2." They might ask you to take it out and show them too. There was also a lady that didn't know what a PS2 was and had to ask her friend. However, other than those, you shouldn't have any problems. Xboxes are heavy lol.

Xbox wont fit in the carryon overhead storage. You'll have to check it. ;)

XBOX needs a military transport plane to get from state to state.

Will the plane be able to takeoff with an Xbox on it? Don't think so.

I took mine to the Philippines with me in December, I just packed it in the middle of my clothes in the suitcase and it arrived fine.

I put my XBox along with games and DVDs in my carry-on from Ohio to San Francisco, and it was fine. I trust having it with me compared to having the baggage handlers throw it around!

haha, i just did the same thing when i went home to michigan. it went tru fine, nor did i have to take it out of my bag. speaking of bags; i found the best way to carry it on was by putting it in my laptop bag....lol, that is: without my laptop. good luck!
