I wouldn't hold my breath. With NSMB being undelayed to the 15th of May now, it seems like they might have given up the idea that Japan would be saitiated at that point that they could release the Lite with it (since the 15th is a Monday, a normal Nintendo game launch day... previous dates had been Sundays, normal hardware launch days). That being said, Nintendo might just announce at E3, "A week or two and these Lites will be in stores!" Should that happen, I'll gladly return here to admit I was wrong ;)

Hey guys, Im also hoping it's May as well. And supposedly during this month there are suppose to be 700k ds lite units distributed in Japan. Hopefully, that will satisfy the crazy demand in Japan. Then maybe, just maybe we can get ds lite in the US shortly after.

And somewhere on the net, i think maybe even here, keep in mind it's a rumor, that the ds lite is to arrive by may 21? Er, well sometime around there since Mario is delayed as well and everyone is pretty much speccing they'll come out at the same time.

But then again, Nintendo might just pull some kind of miracle and send them here sooner. Or they might just screw us over and give us just one new color... nothing but pink... haha, well, I'm hoping, like you guys, that it comes soon. I'm starting to go insane in the membrane myself. Yeah if Nintendo releases a black here in the U.S. I'll wait for it and buy that but if Nintendo shows just the Enamel I'll just import the White version. It would be too bad too because if the Enamel one is anything close, the black one would look sexy.

I got myself a navy one a little over a week ago. It's a fantastic upgrade to the standard DS. I'm really loving this system. The screen brightness has to be seen to be believed.

I don't think a lack of an announcement means much. The Japanese launch was a mere 5 weeks after the initial announcement, and that was with no previous information on the DS Lite being known. With the system having already been released in Japan and the system already having gotten media coverage, announcing a date even less than 5 weeks from now (and even 5 weeks would put it in late-May) seems viable, especially with E3 between now and then.

New Mario Bros. is coming out next month. That automatically makes it not a slow month for the DS.

And if you release a well-hyped piece of hardware, it can speed up the slow months.

I think we'll see it soon....but I think it will be June. I don't see the benefit to Nintendo to release the Lite until a few weeks after the release of New Super Mario Bros. They need to clear out the old models, and having a system-selling game come out will help do that (rember that most of the average public will have no clue a different model is just on the horizon). Releasing the Lite a few weeks later will lure in those folks sitting on the fence.

Also, a bundle is a great idea to sell both games and systems....but, again, selling it after the games initial release makes more sense. Let the diehards buy the game and then consider buying it *again* in the bundle. Haven't previous bundles (MarioKart DS, Nintendogs) been released a little after the initial game launches?

June still works for hitting summer vacation months....so that's my guess. And, unfortunately, my guess is also that it will only be white to start off with :(

The Game Boy SP launched in the spring time as well as the PSP. I think, like someone mentioned, for handhelds this is a good time of the year to launch because of summer travel.

Thanks to Go Nintendo, it's just about confirmed that the DS Lite will launch this June. They were able get hold of a scan that was sent to retailers across Game Crazy. You can now pre-order the DS Lite with a $50 deposit. They have no clue how much it'll go for, but as you can see they'll be going by the import price of $200 until Nintendo tells them otherwise.

As much as I hate to quote Game Informer, they got a rumor from "a red goomba" that told them the DS Lite will launch in the US the same day as New Super Mario Bros. But again, the only reason I read GI is because of the 10% discount card that comes with it.

Either way, I'm pumped for it, the pearl white is pimp, but the other colors look sweet too, but hopefully we'll an orange or red color too.

True, but Nintendo isn't Sega and a DS a quite a bit more affordable than the Saturn was. Not to mention the GBA came out originally around this time of year and it did fine.

My current DS finishes on ebay tomorrow. If the Lite is released post-June, I'll import now. Otherwise, I don't have a problem waiting a month or two.

Game Crazy has it in their computers (as of today). It is listed as $199.99, but I doubt it will end up costing that much. You should be able to preorder it at any Game Crazy. We did not get any email saying that you can't preorder it.
