My wallet fell out of my pocket at someones house in Ohio. I didn't realize it was missing until somewhere in Wisconsin. There was a blizzard coming in so turning around was really out of the question, not that I'd want to turn around and add another 16 hours in the car.

Anyways, my reason for posting this is that my wallet was supposedly shipped Monday, March 27 and has yet to arrive. The post office site says ground mail may take 2-9 days to arrive. That leaves tomorrow... Now, is there anyway to find out anything about this from the post office? I can't really call the person directly and she doesn't return messages. She swore up and down to my GF that it was sent that day and should have arrived the following Friday. This is my GF's aunt so I'm really hoping I don't have to worry about her stealling my credit cards and such, but I've been watching my bank account none the less. However, she did wait two weeks before even sending it because she 'didn't think it was important enough to rush.' Of course she didn't send it priority with delivery confirmation like anyone with a fucking brain would...

This sucks because I can't cash checks, take out cash or even put gas in my fucking car because I don't have my ID, check card or credit card and I just ran out of checks.

So, is there any way I can check on the package or find out if it was even sent or anything?

Sheesh, they didn't spring the $4 for Priority Mail? That sucks man. And she waited 2 weeks just to mail it. And no insurance on it I'm assuming. Man my blood would be boiling...

If they didn't put DC on it (which I doubt they did being too cheap to spring for Priority) I don't think there's anything you can do. USPS doesn't consider a package lost until it's been 30 days or something. IMO more likely than the USPS having lost the package is your gf's aunt lost it before getting around to shipping it off or she hasn't gotten off her ass and sent it yet and is just stalling with BS.

After 30 days what can I do? That time limit would incinuate there was some way to prove that it was sent. Is there any way to contact anyone about any information?

1-800-ASK-USPS and you can ask them directly about this. I'd do that they are generally pretty knowledgable on there.

I think you file a rifled/lost mail report and they do an investigation. But I don't think they can always determine exactly what happened. If crowbb sees this he can probably give you better info. Or PM him directly.

Can you ask the person for the receipt from USPS? If the person is computer savvy, you might be able to get the person to scan the receipt and email a copy to you. That's what I did when I either loose an incoming package. I just ask the sender to email me a copy of the receipt so I could take it to the post office to ask about it.

I seriously doubt she held on to the receipt. Even if she did, she doesn't have a computer nor do I think she could even turn one on. I could have her mail it, but we know how well that turned out last time...
