Just picked up a sony 16x dual layer dvd burner from the tech geek . COM for $35 shipped? It was a great deal, but it came with no directions. I installed it in the second bay and set original cdrw drive as master and the dvd burner as slave. Is this right? Everything works. It also came with a 4 pin audio cable. What is that for? Do I need to use the audio cable?
Can anyone direct me to a dvd burnering tutorial site. I want to make my own dvds with menu, etc and back up a few dvds.
Thanks in advance.

check the settings on the flux capacitor...you might need to bump it up to at least 40 jiggawatts

VGHThe cable you can use if you want to play music CDs or DVDs from that new drive. It connects to your sound card. Just follow the similar cable from your CD drive and that should lead you to the sound card and the port that it should connect to. However, don't disconnect that one. It's just a point of reference so you know which port (look and label to look for) elsewhere on the sound card to plug it into. Should be something like Aux 2 or secondary input, not exactly sure on the terminology.
As for the dvd authoring site, I'm sure someone can better help you with that. There was a thread in the PC forum concerning that exact thing IIRC.

You don't need the audio connector and haven't for a long time. You can play CD's and DVD's in the drive fine without it, everything is handled by the Operating System & your media player of choice.

yes, also having both set to CS would make it work too... CS means cable select and depends on which drive is hooked up to the ide cable first. As far as burning backups use dvd shrink, and dvd decrypter. Youll have to search for these two on google. Shrink does whatyou can imagine it does (shrink the dvd down to fit on a disC) and derypter is used to burn the shrunk dvd.
