I just stoped by a Best buy today (Gaithersburg for any Maryland CAGers, i snaged 8) and they had dozens of Game Gift Cards left. I asked an employee i know and he said that most maryland stores are getting them in. I just called my cousin in Chicago who works at BB and he confirmed that many stores across the nation are getting the new coupons in (he keeps up with this stuff, he's a FWer, boo). These GCC expire 6/2007 so stock up now. Good luck fellow CAGers.

That would be really nice. Looked for them today since I was at a store I rarely frequent, but no good. Haven't seen them in 4 or 5 months.

What's a gamer gift card? Is it just plainly as the name implys? Does it do anything special worth noting? I've never heard of it until this thread.

Are you really a CAG veteran? (just kidding)
There is a $5 off coupon on the back of the gamer's giftcard towards a $19.99 game or higher.

I noticed this at some of the PA/DE stores several weeks ago. Posted it in the GGC thread.

Didn't see any at the Germantown or Rockville Best Buys, but the Shady Grove location had a bunch of them.

Is there a SCAN of what the GAmer Gift Cards look like and where do they usually have them in the store.

I have been looking for them for a few months in a number of stores as well and my store (Racine, WI) finally got a bunch this past week.

Hooray...now, I hope that these aren't all gone when I leave for BB on Monday.

When you use the GGC coupon, ask the cashier if you can keep it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I have gotten where I don't even buy one, I just bring one up off the sales floor and ask them to scan the coupon for me. Haven't had a problem yet.

GGC = Gamer's Gift Card, which is a Best Buy Gift Card that includes a $5 off any game or game accessory $19.99 or more. Very useful for getting $19.99 games, such as PH/GH/PC games, for $14.99.

The current one is blue and silver, with Games embossed on the front of it, if memory serves. I think I have pics around here, as well.

Basically, you go to the register and buy one for $5 (which is the "suggested" minimum for a gift card, though some BB's will let you get away with putting $0.01 on it). You then go to the game section (which I leave the store and then come back in), pick up your game and go to the cashiers. Present the coupon, and it'll knock $5 off the game. Pay with the gift card, and then give them the $9.99 + tax for the $19.99 game, and you're done.

I think we should play these straight up.

Buy one and put at least $5 on it. After you use it, buy another one with $5 on it . . .

Why? I think abuse could lead to them scrapping them. They can easily keep stats on these kind of things.

The whole "put $0.01 on the card" scenario is why some stores stopped carrying the older ones, and probably why some stores still don't carry them.

I always put at least $5 on it, because multiple BB's said it's the "recommended minimum" to put on it.

I put money toward the game on it, why wouldn't you?

Exactly... you're going to spend at least $15 on any game you can buy with the coupon, so other than the fact that it takes away 500 RZ points, you're not losing anything.

I bust out a penny everytime, because honestly, I never know when I'll use these, and I don't need $5 tied up in a gift to Best Buy if I'm not going to buy anything there for a few months.

I usually stock up every few months, grab about 8 cards and put a penny on each of them.

Hmmm, looks like I need to check out my local BB, though last year I had close to 10 of them expire because there was nothing I wanted.

Actually, you're not losing any RZ points either. Gift cards are treated the same as cash.

Best Buys in Fort Wayne have had a ton of them for a long time. Greenwood also has some.

Mainly since if I ever return the game, I'd rather have $5 stuck in BB's possession, instead of $15.

I'm just funny that way, I suppose.

If this does turn up around here, I'll probably go about it in pairs- ie, give my BF $5 or $10 and have him get the card, then give it to me, then I buy the game a few minutes later.

I mean, he's generally with me if I'm at BB, and it looks more legit to the cashier (ie, the guy who can turn me down)- why not?

I'd rather have 1 cent, but that's just me.
