View Full Version : Do they ask for date of purchase if you buy the 360 warranty?

I'm probably just going to do the call in thing, but I wanted to know what they needed exactly before I do. Do they ask for date of purchase?

My premium's been doing fine up to now (which amazingly enough is only a couple weeks past the 90 day initial warranty--haha), but I'm getting game freezes. I have yet to get the red lights (*knock on wood*), but the game just completely freezes and I can't pull up the dashboard or blades or anything in-game.

It's happened w/ Top Spin, Fight Night, and now Oblivion. At times, it'll load up the game and it'll just sit there at the title screen (as was the case w/ Top Spin), freeze up at loading screens (again, Top Spin), or freeze mid-game (Fight Night and Oblivion).

I'm getting plenty of ventilation around it in the horizontal position. I thought I'd be more upset w/ the number of games I've purchased, but I don't get to play it enough anyway as it is. I just hope I can get this fixed in a manner that works for me.

Did you try getting the cooler thingy? I heard it's great, even if you have proper ventilation.

I'll probably end up doing that, but I'm just gonna go ahead and call MS anyway. Maybe they can appease me w/ an offer to fix it or send a new one to replace it, if in fact, it is faulty.

I bought one of those intercoolers, so far so good. FYI, here was my post in another topic on the extended warranty:

Just a heads up to anyone that recently bought a 360 and is interested in the extended warranty... I called today to arrange for mine over the phone (since they guy told me over the phone yesterday that the warranty information takes up to a month and a half to process by snail mail) and was quoted $60 for two years, and I said fine. He put me on hold, and then came back and said that since I called in I would get the two year coverage for $39.90 instead of $59.90... not sure why, but it's worth a shot to ask about it if you are on the fence about buying the extended warranty.

They didn't ask me for the purchase date, but I know that Nintendo tracks their DS sales by serial number (you can look up the expiration date on your manufacturer warranty on their site by your DS serial number), so I wouldn't be surprised if MS does the same.

Yeah, I would guess they know when I purchased it assuming they have that tracking info in conjunction to your signing into Xbox Live.

Really, I'm gonna be pretty understanding as far as what it'll take to fix it. I just hope it isn't the HDD else I'm gonna be really pissed. I'd hate to have to start off on a clean slate on my games short of having to buy a memory card.

Edit 1:
Read through the support page and there's a step that states setting the correct time and date. I'm not exactly sure what that has to do with anything.

I started thinking though that Indiana just went to DST and the problems only started since then that I can remember. So maybe that extra hour jump if I change it will fix it. Or not. I'm just hoping.

Edit 2:
Damn...I was already set to Eastern. I didn't think that had anything to do with it. I hope support is open on Sundays. I wanna play me some Top Spin damn it.

Most 360s have a warrenty outside of 90 days. I called to check mine, which I purchased Dec 23rd and its covered until June 6th or so. Give them a call, they track all the warrenty info by Serial # so have that ready.
