I know most of you at this site are a bit young to do so but being that I'm in the process of doing so, has anyone on this site ever gone through the experience of buying a horse? As im saying, a chestnut horse, or a horse chestnut?

I own several steeds.

The horse feed costs are rough.

Not to mention the insurance issues.

Have the horse inspected before you purchase it.

Even more bored.

Stick your head in their mouth, if they bite hard you don't want it. It means it is aggressive and dangerous. If they just kinda "play" bite go for it.

make sure you check their teeth and gums

Well, my recommendation is not to go with the first butcher you find. Shop around, because a bad cut of horse can be bad.

Squeeze them hard to see if they kick. Is that what you mean?

You need to check the milk quality too.

if you're not sure how to milk a horse, refer to the episode of southpark where they learn how to milk their dogs..

Congrats on having an actual funny topic. Maybe you'll start a trend.

I think the horse got a close up look at that chick in the picture.

All of the kids in our agricultural class have to do that (actually i think it is slightly optional, or so I hear) That is why I am not in Ag.

Umm, ewwww.

Ok, on a more serious note...I used to ride horses alot when I was younger. I even had my own horse at one point.

First off, you are probably better off leasing a horse...yes, you can lease a horse, just like a car! Find someone who is leasing their horse with an option to buy. That way you can ride the horse and get a thorough vet inspection before you own it and get permanently stuck with it.

This is a great way to find out your future horse's physical condition and temperament. You don't want to get stuck with the horse that has a bad personality and doesnt like you and constantly tries to bite you on the ass, or worse, has medical problems that will cost you a ton of money and prevent you from riding it.
