Hamburger flipper Burger King is considering a promotion that offers 3 exclusive BK-branded games. Each would feature their own characters (in this case, the actual Burger King) in “popular” genres (fighting, action and racing). The action game is apparently similar to Halo, while the fighter combines Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Just tack on a “with hamburgers,” and you get the drift.
Marketing research company Greenfield Online (http://greenfield.com/whoweare.htm) sent around a survey regarding the plan apparently and leaked some mock-up and concept images for the proposed campaign. Still in the conceptual stage apparently, the titles would go for US $4 and be compatible with both the original Xbox and the 360. This all makes sense as BK has already (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ea/the-king-joins-fight-night-round-3-154264.php) jumped into in-game advertising feet first.

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/top/burger-king-to-sell-xbox-360-games-166066.php

This might not be so bad, I could see them handing you a code to unlock an XBLA game, hopefully some cool classics, who cares if they have BK adverstising when its free. Then again, they might not team up with good developers and open up the hell gates for advertisers everywhere. What do you guys think.

Update 4/12:
If this is correct, looks like we'll be seen them this Fall:

I dunno, wasn't one of the main problems in the early/mid 80's was that everyone was making games to cash in...I think there was even an alpo dog food game....It would be cool to play as the king though

I read this on a couple of other sites earlier and it seemed more like they would be selling the games on actual discs. Seems like a good way to shift Happy Meals, pardon me, BK Big Kids Meals into modern times. I guess if they can sell those really crappy watches every year, they should be able to sell a decent amount of these.

There was a McDonalds game.. I would so collect these BK games. Too bad the nearest one is like 30 miles away.

I hate BK, so I'd just buy the game if possible. If not, I'd buy a meal and throw it away and just keep the game.

Yeah I remember that one too, I believe it was for the Genesis. Also wasn't Yo Noid a Domino's pizza game for the NES? From what I remember I used to enjoy both of them.

As long as they come with achievements I'm in. :D

LOL! I've been playing this at work lately!

These are some other surprisingly decent food-related games:

Mick & Mack: Global Gladiators (two kids use some kind of manjam-shooting super soakers to kill toxic waste creatures and appease Ronald McDonald)

Yo Noid (Play as that lovable scamp and challenge other Noids in pizza eating contests at the end of each stage....um...)

Beer Tapper/A&W Root Beer Tapper (badass)

Burgertime (classic)

This is a pretty cool idea, making cheapy games isn't going to cost Burger King all that much and the Burger King character is creepy enough to make people interested in them. With meals or a cheap price like its suggested I'd pick them up.

Anything with the King is automatic gold. Hopefully there'll be an adult oriented game where you can make sure that people don't have an option but to wake up with the fucking king.

Who else thinks that Burger King really doesn't know what it has with the King character? He's an essential goldmine. Screw that big buckin chicken, or whatever it is.

I've also thought their King character is great...if not a little scary.

I'll definitely grab a couple copies of each one...

They should make a PSP or DS game you can play while on the toilet, after your bowels rupture from the Enormous Omelet Sandwich.

I'm still waiting for the death match to end all death matches. The King vs. Big Buckin Chicken. The question we all have to ask ourselves is who will the BK kids align themselves with.

So they're going to make a fighting game where the King takes on a kid in a wheelchair and his dog?

Imagine the King taking out a yellow-suited, red-haired clown on a deep crossing pattern.

I love how they describe each game by naming games in each genre that have nothing in common except their popularity.

Halo and Destroy All Humans?
NFS and Forza?

This wouldn't be the first advergame (http://hightechmagazine.com/ManageArticle.asp?C=240&A=8373) for the Xbox.

I think the game should be that you have to sneak into little girls rooms and try to scare them to death being dressed up as the BK king guy. I also think that you should be able to sleep with the MILFS.

This is really a good idea. My question is why would they produce this for Xbox rather than PS2? Is there a relationship with MS that I don't know about?

Seems like the 100 Million PS2 systems would mean more sales...

I was a bigger fan of Coque Roque, the fake GWAR-esque heavy metal band used to peddle Chicken Fries when they first surfaces. Mmmmm...chicken fries.

I'd be all about the games, too, but 360 would need quite an installed base to make this lucrative for BK.
