I was just curious to see how many marketplace points the average cheap ass gamer has at a given moment

I think I have 4000 points....I have 4800. I got 2 cards for under $25 and then another for X-mas. Only spent 800 points on Jewel Quest for my wife.

I have 500 (2x12 month kits, and a 3 month kit). I missed out on the "good" sales on the 1600 point cards, picked up a 3 & 12 month kit at Toy's R Us closeout, and one on the BB price goof.

I bought Robotron for 200 and still have 1400.

1300ish. Just bought 2000 a couple days ago because I had the urge to play Zuma again and someone told me Feeding Frenzy is pretty good. Also keeping 200-400 points on reserve for the Oblivion stuff.

2030 points, waiting for sf2

0 at the present time.

I have bought some in the past (3200) with the circuit city deal but spent them all on GeoWars, Smash TV, Robotron, Crystal Quest, Gauntlet and Astro Pop.

A few gamepics and a 2 dashboard themes.
One I wish I wouldn't have bought.

When SF2 comes out I plan on buying some more points and also getting Feeding Frenzy, Wik and Zuma.

I have the 100 that I got with my 3 months subscription.
I've thought of getting more but I haven't seen anything really worth wild. Maybe once I get tired of Hexic I'll look into buying a new game.

1200. Bought Smash TV and Gauntlet and never really played Gauntlet. None of the games really interest me at all, I wish they'd step it up a bit. I can play almost all those games elsewhere and have my TV freed up to boot.

Seems really strange there is no incentive to "spend more to get more"...your dollar goes just as far if you only buy a few hundred as if you bought a few thousand. Not that I'm complaining. I like being able to buy 400 here and there as I need it without worrying I'm wasting money by not just plunking down $20+

0. Right now there isn't anything on there that I really want to spend point on. Maybe when some new GRAW maps are available this winter.

I don't stock up on points. If I have any in my account it's because I didn't use all of the points I purchased for whatever game or content I decided to buy.

1400 points here.

1600 points from buying 20.00 card
+ 200 points from 1 year kit
- 400 for Geo Wars

400

I'm no longer buying them unless I specifically want something. I have no self control and end up spending them on a whim when I'm bored. Not that that's been all bad. I've gotten more than my money worth from GW, Zuma, and Atropop. I could've skipped Billiards and Smash TV though...

i am new, and realize they are a type of currency for online games and themes ect.? but am i the only one who thinks that it is fucking retarted? we pay for our xbox live service.. and we cant get some downloadable content for free? some themes? a freggin picture pack?! some of these games come by the thousands on online arcade sites, and now we are paying money for them?i really just dont get it. Paying for new maps on halo2 seemed a bit out there, but worth it because i was an avid halo2 player, but downloadable content i guess seems like it should be free? maybe i am wrong, and it is all worth top doller who knows. Someone chime me in pn why we are paying money.... i havent yet seen the conversion (i havent boughten any) on how much money it is, but come on?

People are paying for it....so, it's not dumb for MS and the other companies to charge for these. Yes, some are a bit high priced, but by making them "points", it does not seem as expensive. But, this has been covered in detail before.

I actually have a 200 point card unused also...so, that brings me to 4200 points :)

Well 1600 points can be purchased for about $20, though I've not paid more than $15 yet. It comes out to anywhere from a couple of bucks to $8 or $9 for a purchase. As to whether or not these should be free... some things are. There are lots of free demos. All the arcade games have free demos. A few pictures and things are available too.

My own opinion is this: MS created this as a marketplace, and it's just that. Devs can sell, and you can buy or not. Personally, Geometry Wars is the best $5 I've ever spent on gaming. Ever. I have no problem with it. If it's not DLC, and a full game, then I can't really see how anyone thinks they have the right to it for free. DLC is a fine line for me. If I love the game (a la Halo 2) and I know that the dev has spent a lot of time post-release creating more content, I have no objection to supporting their work. If I'm not that into the game, that's fine too. I just save my money. What peeves me is DLC such as the horse armor in Oblivion where it's obvious the dev left something little out just to milk a few more bucks from fans.

The "I already pay for LIVE" argument is lame too. That's like saying "I already pay for cable, I should get HBO and Playboy free." You may think so, but tough. You're paying for a service - to play over their network and have access to all that that entails. Personally, I think the $50 a year is well worth it for that alone.

The bottem line is that the marketplace is here to stay on the 360, and there will be lots of free content and lots more premium. It will boil down to supply and demand. I think the free demos on all arcade games makes that a pretty fair system. I'm sure I will spend plenty more in the coming years on these little point cards.

as of right now, i dont think i will ever go to the store to buy points to get cheesy arcade games that i can play untill year 3000 without seeing a repeat online... i guess i am just used to the pc, you pay for internet, but you dont pay for the pictures you download, or changing the colors of your browser, i guess there are two ways to argue it, but its all just to drain your wallet, and im trying to seal the holes.

And that's fine, that's your choice to make. Would I prefer things on Xbox Live to be "free"? Sure. But if the only two options are pay for personalization or to not have any personalization at all, I'll pay any day. And I like the fact I have that option.

Besides, one could go into a huge debate about how piracy and thievery have become so common place on the internet that people now feel they are entitled to gaining copyrighted content for free when technically they should be paying for it.

I got around 2300. I've bought 2 1600 cards, and I've just used my points to change my GT and get my current gamer picture. I was going to get a couple of arcade games like Geometry Wars, but after playing the demos I've decided to hold off against buying them. Still waiting for SF 2 to come out on XBLA.

I bought one card, and then won two more from the Ninja Bee contest we had a few months ago. So far, I've only bought Geometry Wars, Outpost Kaloki X (meh), and a gamer pic.
