I'm going to have to listen to that interview to hear exactly what he said about Goldeneye. I'd like to believe it's true, but I'm going to have to hear it from the horse's mouth.
Call me an MS fanboy if you want, but I think they've done everything right with Xbox Live since the 360 launch. I don't know what Sony and Nintendo have planned for their online services, but I can't imagine it being as good as Live.

Yea, MS has handled it pretty fuckin well, IMO.

Have you tried playing Goldeneye lately? The graphics are horrendus.
..but dear god, if they added multiplayer support..

hopefully they update the graphics if its the 64 version. That game is almost unplayable nowadays. Framerate issues and blurry graphics not acceptable on my 360

Agreed. EA owns all of the Bond rights now, which would put this in the Marvel V Capcom category, wouldn't it?

I'm interested to see how they'd do Goldeneye.
Maybe all the support Microsoft's thrown behind EA, they'll allow them to use the license?
Or will it be a Bondless James Bond game?

I dunno about Goldeneye, it just seems too tangled up in ownership to make it out

Honestly, if Goldeneye can actually make it out and they ended up cleaning up the textures and models and all...that would be quite interesting, at least. That and it would leave potential hope for other titles being re-released despite many turnovers in licenses...
Yeah, yeah, I'm still holding out on the Konami X-Men arcade game and the Capcom D&D brawlers. Those were fantastic.

Appearently I read wrong or they updated the site. It actually says it most likely wont happen. But lots of good info on here anyway. I'll change the thread title. Sorry guys.

Sweet Jesus, Goldeneye in widescreen on my 360?!?!
Also, "Xbox Live Marketplace is going to see its own major “virtual console-like” announcement at E3, and it’ll be rolled out BEFORE Nintendo’s Revolution even hits the market." sounds interesting, but it'll probably just end up being something stupid, like it has a camera or sells music or something.

While they make mistakes, the things they do right usually far overshadow any mistakes, so I'll have to agree there.
My only thought is once Nintendo gets their ultra-library of stuff available, XBLA is going to really have to step it up with releases. Stuff like SFII being pushed from February to.....whenever....don't fill me with confidence, but I assume once we get 8-10 months into the console's lifespan things will start to smooth out.
Sony I'm not the least bit concerned with at the moment. All the hype says they're launching an "XBox Live Killer," but Sony doesn't exactly strike me as a company that will get a comprehensive online service perfect right out of the box. If at all.
If MS is really doing some kind of virtual console thing at E3...well...with Nintendo and Sega showing strong support for the Rev, maybe MS is trying to scoop up as many arcade games as possible? Hell yes to the poster above who mentioned the 6-player X-Men game (http://wolverine.ytmnd.com/). Stuff like that would be awesome.

While I'm glad to hear Microsoft will try and add a 'virtual console-like' feature, isn't it likely that it will consist primarily of Midway or Atari (read: American) games? Maybe Namco too, but good God, how many Namco Museum collections have been released in the past 10 years? Not that it's a bad thing, but compared to Nintendo & Sega's 8-bit and 16-bit libraries it is a bit lacking.

I think the virtual console will be the acquisition of Dreamcast games, such as virtua tennis. Just my guess though.

I'm really hoping thats it. Although that would anger me a little right now after I just bought Top Spin 2. But holy shit POWERSTONE I & II!!!!!!!!!!
It makes sense for MS and Sega. Sega needs money, MS needs a credible back library and plenty of people are as nostalgic over Dreamcast and Sega in general as they are over Nintendo.
As for the GoldenEye thing, there was a HL2 mod being worked on called GoldenEye Source that was exactly a graphically updated version of GoldenEye, although that doesn't mean EA or MGM or the Brocolli fam won't sue the makers, or that it would ever show up on 360. The thing that gets me is I read this on Joystiq and the fucking headline was "Goldeneye on XBL" or something similar and in the article they are like "NOT!". Manipulative motherfuckers....

50% of users are connected to Xbox Live. And 85% of those connected are downloading content
That stat means absolutely nothing until we know how many 360s have been sold to date. The last numbers I read said that 900,000 360s had been sold by the end of 2005. So 450,000 people are on Xbox Live? Not a very impressive stat considering that I would assume a majority of 360 buyers were Xbox owners. I guess it shouldn't be surprising since only a small percentage of the original Xbox owners actually subscribe to Live.
I do think that Live is definitely the best online model out there for consoles, but obviously there is a cost to being the best, and a lot of people are not going to shell out $50 a year just to play online when they can do it for free on other systems.
I don't know how sophisticated Sony or Nintendo's online services are going to be, but they are free, and that is what will force MSoft to again split their userbase into two categories. "Free" XBL users, or "premium" XBL users.
