We today learned about an upcoming event, to be officially unveiled tomorrow. Microsoft, sponsored by Adidas, will host a whole week of free Xbox Live gold gaming, and is also giving the community alot of free stuff on the Marketplace. More info inside!

The week starts on Monday, 8th of May at 08:01 GMT/09:01 CET and ends Monday 15th of May at 07:59 GMT / 08:59 CET. They are also promising that new free Marketplace content - trailers, demos and exclusive gamer pictures will be released each day, but the titles are yet to be announced. Don't forget that it is the E3 week though!
So, what does Adidas have to do with this? Well, the week is of course about football, named "Xbox Live™ Football Free-For-All". It will give you a chance to play Fifa World Cup 2006, to win matches and end up as number #1 on the leaderboards (if you're good enough). If you're still number one on the 24th, you'll be qualified for the Xbox Cup in Germany this summer, and represent your country there.
The silver Xbox Live membership will magically (and automatically) turn into a gold membership on the 8th, so you silver-players out there, start practicing and promise to be good when you'll go online and see how the Xbox 360 really is supposed to be used!

I wonder if they are only for the week, giving people an incentive to get these gamerpics, then they pull them....I doubt it, but good news.

I'm not sure if it was on here, but I remember saying somewhere that something like this would be a brilliant use of XBLM. To have demos and full 720p trailers of games being shown at E3 while E3 is going on is fucking genius. Might even cut down on the number of douche bags that go to the actual show just because they got a job at EB or Game Crazy a month before E3 or think because they run a part time website they have a right to clog up the halls of E3 with their fatbodies.

Speaking of free Xbox Live during E3, I read this today ...

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/xbox-live/xbox-live-free-during-e3-167027.php

Fresh on the heels of the first ever free Xbox Live weekend comes word of the next free Xbox Live weekend. ActiveWin is reporting that the next week of free Live play will run the week of E3. Starting at 8 p.m. May 8 and running through May 15 gamers who decided not to pony up for a Live subscription can play their leet cash-laden brethren on Live. Rumor has it that the FIFA World Cup Soccer 2006 demo might hit the Marketplace that week as well.

I think when their is a free any amount of time on Live that it should be tacked on to people who have prepaid for at least 3 months account.

You have a good point there, Graystone. While I think its really cool and all of them to do that. My only concern is that its gonna bring out all the little brat kids that get on there and do nothing but toss around racial slurs and cuss like they just learned to talk, are gonna be playing mostly
