Yes since PaRappa is pretty much in this game (with a few new songs) but I liked it more than Parappa 1.

Better than PaRappa?
If memory serves me correctly, its got better multiplayer options.
I don't know if the game as a whole, is better than Parappa, but its at least just as good.

I picked up UmJammer Lammy recently and have been playing through it recently. Here's my take on it vs. Parappa the Rapper:

-UmJammer Lammy is more difficult, with more of an emphasis on freestyling. In Parappa, you could beat the game just by following the instructor. In Lammy, you have to freestyle to beat it.

-UmJammer Lammy has multiplayer. You can play two-player co-op as well as two-player versus.

-Parappa is a hidden character, and you can play through the whole game with him. Essentially, it's like having Parappa the Rapper with different songs within UmJammer Lammy.

As for me, I like the guitar better than rapping, and I find freestyling with the guitar to be more intuitive than freestyling with rapping. UmJammer Lammy is definitely harder than Parappa the Rapper, and the story and songs are on par with those in Parappa, for the most part. A few of the songs in UmJammer Lammy I like better than those in Parappa, but some of the songs are much worse than those in Parappa. Overall, I'd have to give the nod to UmJammer Lammy.

I agree, Lammy is better than Parappa, but I'm still hunting (not as much though) for a copy of Parappa. You don't necessarily have to freestyle to win, I just followed the commands.

There is so much more to do: Beat the game, then beat it with Parappa, beat the versus stages, etc. It's a lot harder too. I haven't even gotten Cool mode on all the levels, and for Parappa, there is a specific formula, so on that I beat every level on Cool.

All in all, it's a great deal, better than Parappa and definitely better than Parappa 2 which was just a piece of crap. I liked the songs in Parappa 1 better, but the guitar just sounds better to riff on.

It's sort of funny though, I got this game for $15 in '99, and it's $10 almost 5 years later. Good to see it's still around though.

Yea I saw a new copy of Lammy for 15 at gamestop. Passed because before I got a PS2 I saw it for 5 bucks at CC.

picked up Gitaroo Man for 16 instead

Aww man, am I the only one who likes Parappa better than Lammy?

They ought to make a turntable scratching game with DJ Berri Bear.

That would be a tight game, to have DJ PJ. He sounds kind of like Cleveland from Family Guy.

Oh and bileanddecay, I used to think Parappa was the best game ever, so don't worry hehe. I liked it even more than Lammy, but now that I think about it, the variety in Lammy outweighs Parappa, although Parappa's music and story, I think, are better.

I also am in the Parappa is better dept. Also I would highly reccomend going through Parappa first as the first level in UJL is hader then the hardest level in Parappa.

This is a game that anyone that slightly enjoys rock will be spending a lot of time on. I've had this game for a few years and still go back to it, even my copy of the original Parappa has not got as much playtime as Lammy.

Not to be a jerk, but a friend got this for me a while ago, and I happen to know he only paid $2.99 for it used at EB.

I'm just assuming it's achieved RARE status by now, though, so this looks like a good deal. Oh and that same friend later got me turned on to Gitaroo Man... but since then, I haven't ONCE seen it in any store (and I used to see it all the time ).
