I read in the the most recent Team Xbox review of Far Cry Evolution Xbox, that the 8 new multiplayer maps that are featured /available for the Xbox version, but only downloadable via Xbox LIVE, and not featured exclusively on the Evolution disc.
I was wondering, as I do not have LIVE, but getting ready connect, owning Far Cry Instincts already, not seeing this info included in the Team Xbox review:
Are those maps available for owners of the new Evolution version only, or for the original Instincts game /disc too? I'm sure the non-Evolution owners would not have access to the new Map Editor features though, correct?
Which no new single player maps or new Map Editor would be no biggy for me, as long as I couls access the 8 new maps.
I would really appreciate any info on this,
thanks.
Hey retail, I don't understand your question. Could you restate it? I think you're asking if the new multiplayer maps are available to FCI owners, and I'm pretty sure the answer is no.
What I wonder is: are all the FCI multiplayer maps available in FCI:E? In other words, once I beat the single-player campaign, does it make sense to sell FCI and keep FCI:E for the live action?

Yes, that's what I'm asking, if those 8 new maps can be down loaded / used with the original FC: I xbox disc.
No, those 8, occording to Team Xbox review are "not" in game on the FC: E, but are in disc on the x360 version.
From what I read the only difference in FC: I & FC: E for XBox, is the additions made to the Map Editor, and 1 new multiplayer mode, Seek and Secure which is very similar to HQ mode in Call of Duty 2, or several other king of the hill games that we’ve seen in past games.
I'm guessing it does require the FC: E for the DL of those 8.

For Evolution the team at Ubisoft Montreal created eight new maps on top of the originals which can be downloaded via Xbox Live, but are not included on the disc as they are in the Xbox 360 version. What is included is the feature that allows for your old maps, that are still saved on your Xbox from Instincts, to be transferred over and saved for play in Evolution. Anyone who’s created a map knows that it’s a seriously time consuming process if you do it right so it’s nice that Ubisoft has taken those people into consideration.
Ah, I get it now. That's a very good question, because if it were possible to get them in FC:I, then there would be little reason to get Evolution, since the single-player campaign is supposedly lackluster.
But I bet you can't download them for FC:I (for one thing, I just looked, and there is no D/L Content for FC:I right now). But I really doubt that Ubisoft would be cool enough to give out the Evolution maps for FC:I, since it takes away a big reason to buy the game.
BTW, we should jump online some time. I've been meaning to hit some live with some caggers, but have never actually done it.

Yep, personally I believe most people could beat the 6 level singleplayer campaign in a 5 day rental, which I'm waiting for my free rental locally to try to do.
It would be nice if you could rent FC: E, use it to DL those 8 levels, then pop FC: I in and in work then, but I'm sure UBI has it set up to were you need FC: E, which sucks, because it makes it useless to keep FC: I around after having beat it singleplayer wise.
Yep, I've been looking to go on LIVE too. I'm waiting for my local IP to have another free installation period, because otherwise it's a $95 hook up fee, which, I think is BS. Plus, $46 a month for x15 faster, and their modem with a built in router isn't compatible for LIVE, so I'd have to buy those seperate too. I'd be in for $200 + to hook up.
ComCast is going to start providing High Speed fiber optic here by the end of the year. I live in rural Tennessee, so it's hard to get the lines run for that stuff.
I've had a 12 subscription card for two years now, : ( lol.

Can anyone tell me which has the bigger online following, FC: I or FC: E?
Allow me to insert my complaint here that Microsoft no longer publishes the Top-10 Live games. If they did, we could easily answer your question.
Edited to add: I would be *shocked* if Evolution had a bigger following than FC:I. My money's on the first one (FC:I).

Yep, it does really "suck" that they had to split the two games up instead of putting them on one disc like the 360 version.
There spliting there a potentially larger user base online with two non compatitable versions. If I were UBI developers I would've atleast made FC: E backwards compatible with FC: I online, to help benefit the upgrade even more.
IMO, they should be bundling FC: I & FC: E together for $39.99, or they should give you a coupon to get both for that price.
As far as getting FC: E I'm really torn between what I should do, already having FC: I. An upgraded map editor is nice, and 8 new multiplater levels and weapons would be good too, but I really could care less about singleplayer.
Truthfully, I guess I'll pick up FC: E or rent it first to see what I think.

retail if you are going with comcast, check around for their 6 months for $20 per month. i got in on that deal 2years ago, but i keep seeing it fly around on fatwallet and through bestbuy from time to time. you might even check your local comcast and say you've seen an advert to that effect.

I'm going with my local telephone IP for the time being. Comcast is working on getting it in by november, I think there putting in fiber optic. And this IP I'm going with is bringing in fiber optic & some other competing cable company.
Yep, I've read they have great deals from ads in Knoxville, like the first 3 months free, and if you buy the basic digital cable plan you get it starting at $19.99 a month.
It's going to cost me $46 a month for just x15 faster, plus my local ohone bill, which the phone bill is around $32 a month with call waiting, unlisted number, and caller ID. But damn I'm sick of waiting. If Xbox.com & a person I know hadn't given me bad info I'd had it a year and a half ago. Plus whats bad about dial up is the line is always busy when you want to use the phone.
I should be connected by next Monday.
