View Full Version : True Crime New York City - any good?
Now that True Crime: New York City can be had for $10 at Best Buy, I was wondering if its worth picking up. The ability to play as a cop sounded interesting to me. Can someone who played it tell me? Thanks. :D

The reviews for this game were uniformly terrible. I personally didnt like the first True Crime game so this doesn't sound any better.

There were reviews (Game Informer, for example) that put the game in a positive light. I say rent first.

Why would you spend 7 bucks to rent the game when its only 10 to buy?

D'oh, I didn't see that part of the OP. Yeah, I say go for it.
If the first one got above average reviews, and I thought it was one of the worst games I've ever played; and if the second one got terrible reviews, I can't imagine how much I'd think it would suck.

Not bad, I'd say pick it up, good graphics and action made it worth the $15 I paid for it at BB awhile back. I got the collector's edition as well, see if you can get it for the same price.

The first was the only GC game I ever had crash, but for $10, why not take the dive? This site is Cheap Ass Gamer, not Cheap Ass Pretentious Assholes Who Only Buy Good Games When They're Cheap.
Besides, that'd be an awful name.

I bought it for full price at a whim and it was bad enough to make me never buy games again.
I dunno if my favorite part is when you cant see the enemies punching you, or when the car drives like a hovercar.

I think Luxoflux needs to make another Vigilante 8 [for 360 w/online] and shitcan the True Crime series .

Vigilante 8 blew Twisted Metal out of the water.

If you define good, by chopping your balls off, lighting your esophagus on fire, and putting a fork in your eyeballs, then hell you'll have a ball.

It's worth at least $10 and certainly better than the first True Crime.

It was $10 at Best Buy with a coupon. I just got the LE on Saturday for that price thanks to the coupon.

Ha Ha Ha!
Seriously..though, I bought the first game and played it for 15 minutes. I promptly took it back to gamestop to trade it in for another game. It was that bad! I just couldn't get past the cheesy dialog and the half-ass gameplay..
I think that was the fastest I have ever returned a videogame..
I think some of you guys are being way too harsh on this game. I'm enjoying it so far and I think its definitely worth ten bucks. The Limited Edition packaging looks kick ass as well.

I've got to really enjoy it, and my neighbor (who loves GTA-style games) likes it as well. The game is glitched to Hell and back though, but it's very fun when it's not being all buggy.
