I'm curious what you all think... I got Tetris DS a couple days ago. I've been thinking about getting Meteos today, but I can't decide if I should or not.

My concerns are that it's too similar to Tetris to make it worth it, and maybe the money would be best spent on another game? Also, I'm not the speediest person on the planet... so I'm worried it might be too fast moving for me.

Some other ones I'm considering are RE:DS (though I have concerns about how good I'd be at this... but it's almost worth it for the nostalgic cheesy dialog factor  ), Super Princess Peach, Lost in Blue, <insert suggestion here>... Or I could always just *gasp* save the money for NSMB and Big brain Academy :P

I'd be kind of curious to hear what you all think about the difficulty on Hunters, too... I love to game, but I'm not all that great at it... and I hate to spend my gaming $ on anything that's just going to frustrate me...

While Meteos is an awesome game, I think your money would be better spent buying one of the other games you listed or saving it for NSMB or Big Brain, only because I know I would rather get a puzzler and something else as opposed to two new puzzlers. However, if you're a big puzzle fan, Meteos would be great.

Meteos isn't too similar to Tetris, so I wouldn't worry about that. I enjoyed both games quite a bit.

I can't speak for RE: DS, but don't waste your money on Lost in Blue or Princess Peach...if you're planning to, just wait for NSMB (and you better be planning on getting NSMB anyway!).

However, if you're a big puzzle fan, Meteos would be great. I am a big puzzle fan, but I may have enough already, so maybe I'll pass. I think I've been more intrigued by Meteos because everyone said "GET IT!" when it came out, and not because it sounded really amazing to me :/

Noooo way would I miss NSMB! I hope someone will have a preorder giftie or a cool free with purchase for it :D Thanks for the tips on the others, though. I have been teetering on Princess Peach... and I really wasn't planning to get Lost in Blue at all... but I saw it today used, and it made me think about it again.

meteos was much beter than tetris IMO. Tetris gave me no incentive to play as there where no unlockables. where as meteos had a ton of stuff to unlock. And I just had more fun playing it than tetris.

Depends on how you want to play. The original Game Boy Tetris is still the only Tetris to play for single player, IMO. However, Tetris DS' multiplayer (local or WiFi) is soooo much fun. The ghost pieces and instant drops lend itself to more of the Meteos-like frantic pace (who'd have thought wanting Tetris pieces to drop FASTER?).

Meteos is a much deeper single-player experience, and a fantastic game in its own right. If you've got people to play with around you, multiplayer is fun, but I do wish they'd do something to get this game playable on WiFi. That'd bring me back for more. I know a few people who've picked this up for like $8. If you own a DS and see Meteos for $15 or under, it's probably a crime to not buy it. You don't want to go to jail, do you?

That all being said, save up for NSMB. :)

Daaaaaaaaang... if I saw it for $8, you can bet I'd pick it up

Now I'm torn... I'm tempted to just order it and call it a night ;)

I'm not sure why I'm looking to get all these games, I don't have the time to PLAY them... but something about seeing all the little DS game cases lined up on my shelf, and knowing I have the games at my disposal, fills me with joy and makes me go :bouncy: \\:D/ :-\"

It's the struggle that every DS owner has. There's so many AMAZING games available for the system, where do you start? Where do you find the time to keep playing?

I got Tetris DS and the multiplayer is fun, but it doesn't excite me that much. I can only play a few rounds of it before getting bored. Meteos is a better puzzler in my opinion. It's a faster paced game with a lot more depth. You can do combos and it exploits the system's capabilities much better. Multiplayer is crazy on meteos, if only it was out for WiFi. It's definitely a very fast pased game, where you WANT the pieces to drop faster. It's lot more fun than the reviews out there make it. If you have a Best Buy, there should be a download station there, just bring your DS there and they have meteos as one of the games you can demo.

Metroid Prime Hunters is my favorite DS game not to say it doesn't have its flaws, because it has many. There's been lots of problems with Nintendo WiFi and connecting to people (via the lobby/friend system). This isn't specific to MPH. Other than that, the best multiplayer system out there, not to say it couldn't be improved. 4 player games tend to be choppy depending on the action, just b/c I don't think the ds can handle it at all. Single player has choppy parts also. 1v1 or 3 players is probably the best. Graphics are amazing for a ds, for PC people, feels really grainy. Wish they would have toned it down a bit for smoother gameplay, 60 fps all the way as opposed to 30. The single player game is okay, but lacking. I don't own a gamecube so I can't speak for the original Metroid Prime series, but I heard it was really good and expected this to be the same. It's a very combat oriented game and feels just like your typical FPS/Doom/Quake style. If you're looking for an adventure game, this is not it. Beyond all these problems, multiplayer is where the fun is. 7 Hunters in total, gives you a decent amount of options and variety. The alt forms add a nice spin to your typical FPS game. I would definitely recommend it if you plan on playing it multiplayer most of the time, but not the best on the go game.

I like Tetris DS quite a bit, but I think I like Meteos better. The style of the game, the unlockables, the addictive "twitch" quality make it a must have, IMO, especially if you consider yourself a puzzle game fan. Like others, my only lament is that it is not playable online. But it was released in a different time. Oh well. Maybe there will be a sequel.
