Wasn't Capcom Collection for PS2 only $20? Or did it initially come out at $40? If it was $20, how did they ever get away with pricing the portable version at $40?

Gamerankings: 80% http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/930836.asp?q=capcom
From the IGN review of it (http://psp.ign.com/objects/773/773318.html)(oh noes! reading!11!!!!):
Now to be fair, the PSP version of Capcom Classics Collection really shouldn't be classified as a "port." With the exception of only five games in the set (Final Fight, Section Z, Bionic Commando, Legendary Wings, and Forgotten Worlds), the remaining 15 titles found in Remixed weren't available for the PS2 or Xbox editions at all. In fact, some of the PSP inclusions are games that were sorely missed from the set-top version -- 1941, Magic Sword, Captain Commando, Black Tiger, Strider, and Side Arms are all must-have additions for any self-respecting arcade fan of the 1980s. It's good to see them pop up again here so that newer audiences can enjoy them.
I'm also happy to report that the emulation of every last piece of software in Capcom Classics Remixed has been handled very, very well. Once again translated by the team at Digital Eclipse (the same crew that did the console edition last year), the game's move from ROM to PSP is pretty seamless. There's almost no slowdown, audio problems, or video hitches to speak of whatsoever, and that's a big victory for a retro-pack fan like me who has seen countless compilations that botch my yesteryear favorites.
Hope this helps. I'd be in for one but I can't force myself to pay for what I can play via MAME on my PC. I'm too much of a cheapass.
Best,
--BF.

They're all really good, though I liked MMX the best and MMPU the least. CCC has a lot of excellent games on it and that's definitely worth picking up given that it's half price while with the MM games, you're paying 2/3 of the retail price. MMPU is really good from what I've played and I'd get that as well if I were you, but I just don't like the original MM series as much as the MMX series.

Wow, really wish I had a PSP, I'd love to get Maverick Hunter X. It does look like a really cool remake, especially the way they made Vile a playable character with his own storyline (even though the levels stay the same). Anyone on the edge about it should check out Gamespot's video review, it gives you a pretty good impression of the game. I really hate the fact that they removed the remixed music and the new script from the Mega Man X collection because they wanted it to be exclusive to the X remakes, though.

I bought CCC at $40 about 2-3 weeks ago with a couple RZ certificates-- would I be able to return a shrinkwrapped copy and get my money back? Or do RZ certificates 'disappear' once they've been used? (would I only get a refund on the actual money I gave BB?)
Sucks for those of us who paid full price, but awesome deal for those who haven't gotten it yet, CCC is really good on the PSP.

Long as it's within 30days and sealed, you shouldn't have a problem. However, your RZ certs get sent back to your RZ account first then will be sent back to you.

I did ask a BB employee that worked in that section to see if they either Maverick Hunter or CCC in the back. His response, "I just came from the back and we don't have any left in stock". Either I have the best timing ever or he didn't want to even bother checking.
at mine, I didnt see Capcom Classics Collection Remixed out on the floor. I asked the sales person to check the back and they had it. So try that.

I really, really wanted Megaman PU, but it was not there, so I got CCC. 20$ savings opposed to 10$, and CCC has Magic Sword FTW!
ARG, I still really want MM!
*edit* Got both MM's at another BB, couldn't resist! Thanks OP!

BB keeps very few games in the back, if any at all. They are normally only extra copies of games that sell incredibly well. Its very easy for them to know what games are in the back off the top of their head.

I completely understand. His response is what kind of got me wondering. Like if he knew to check before I asked. I understand though. I would think that BB would keep a lot of stock in the back being that their stores are so big.

Mega Man X is pretty damn cool but once you beat it there's little to do aside from playing through as the other character. Unlocking the haduken is pretty damn cool though.
Mega Man Powered Up has a LOT of replay value with the create your own level, downloadable levels, and playing through the game with each of the other robots.
Overall Mega Man X is the better game but you'll get a LOT more for your money with Powered Up.

when you checked the availibitly on the website did you use the instore pick up feature? if that's it, don't trust. Mine showed the closest store out of CCC and called just to be sure, and they had them. picked up 1 of the last 2 on the sales floor.

Tried to buy two campcom classics psp today. The asshole check-out female supervisor refused to took $20 off the second one. She said that coupon says " get xx or xx" which means you can only get one game. I pointed out that on the bottom of the coupon, it says "scan the qualified product UPCs" she just said no because she is too stupid to understand that.

Went looking for CCC today.
This morning, checked BB's website to see which stores in the area had it. The only one of five was (of course) the furthest.
Went there. No copies of CCC, or either Megaman. Decided to write it off, and picked up Brain Age and two more GGCs.
But, I ended up going a little farther for Frys and some other stores and lunch. There was a BB nearby that wasn't on my morning list, so I went.
They had all their PSP games in a lock case, and had CCC and MMPU. I had to wait forever for someone to unlock the case (which is probably why they had these titles left), but I got it. I almost left in disgust, but I thought it would be worse punishment for Best Buy if they had to sell it to me for such a lowball price.

Check the inventory around my stores and the closest had Zero ( as well as 4 others), but when i actually went to the store they had 4 on the shelf. So might be worth the trip to check for yourself.

As great of a deal this seemingly is, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a price drop in the coming months across the board...so hold tight to those that hate BB or can't find availability.

Capcom isn't a very strong believer in price drops (Especially for handhelds.) so it won't be on the manufacturer's side. If you put off buying it too long its likely to go out of print and get discontinued in best buy's inventory.

It says:"Limit 1 coupon per customer". It does not say limit on the games.
On the bottom of the coupon, it says:"Cashier Instructions: Scan coupon UPC. Scan qualifying product UPCs." There is a "S" after "UPC", which means something.

Media department isnt that big, i worked for Best Buy over a year and i pretty much always knew what we had in the back room and what we didnt.
When it came to dvds and cds i had no idea but games its just easy to tell. Normally if you have extra stock in the back its because you have like over 30 of the game in and dont want to take up a whole bunch of shelf space on the floor.

Snagged MMPU today; after about 15 minutes with it, I have decided that it rocks. Yea, it's really good. I actually like the kiddy graphical design, because the action is so smooth. Recommended, especially for $20.

i think it would just change the price to 19.99, not take 20 off...MMPU and MMMHX retail for 29.99, so taking 20 off would make them 9.99...

Ok, which one of you fuckers cleared out the Westwood, CA store of CCC:R in the hour between when I went, realised I forgot my coupon, and got back with my coupon? ;)
They had like 3 of them all hidden in the back, (just came in stock today) and they were gone!! Even had the guy check inventory and they were at 0 with no restocks planned at this time.
Oh well.

Now, if i can just find the FF7:AC movie somewhere around me, seems like all the places around me are sold out already... damn didnt think it would actually sell out. =P already checked 3 BBs, 1 target, 1 circuit city, and 1 frys (had some but would sell out soon and would take time for me to get there).

The Circuit City in Laguna Hills on El Toro Road had around 7 copies of FF7:AC yesterday. They're near the floor -- it took me several minutes to find them and I almost overlooked them.
The Best Buy in Westminster probably still has copies of CCC, even though the website says they don't. There was at least one left on Monday.

If your BB is only 10 minutes away and you don't mind too much if you leave empty handed, go. The online availability isn't always right.
You could call, depending on your opinion of your local BB employees. There are some stores around here I would trust with a phone call...

I can confirm that the BestBuy.com availability is inaccurate at best. I drove 25 mins out my way to get CCR because the website said my loacal BestBuy didn't have it. Went in yesterday to pick up Mega Man: PU and lo and behold, 4 copies of CCR.
I'd be annoyed but it's my own stupid fault for not checking the local one first. #-o

Took a couple of BB's but I managed to round up what I was looking for:
MMMHX (Yep, it's as good as everyone says)
MMPU (Yet to play)
CCCR (I had this confused with the Namco collection but it's definitely a keeper. Really cool, great looking games I missed out on in the arcade in the late '80's, early '90's. A must have.)
TOKOBOT: Was still marked at $29.99, rings up $19.99. Only played about an hour but so far worth $15 A/C IMO.
Thanks OP. Finally some overdue face time for my PSP.
