I just sold a cable modem on ebay and the guy that won the auction is in Spain. Now he's asking me if I will let him out of the auction.

This has never happened to me before, so Im not sure what to do. The guy is in Spain, and I'd love to not have to fill out a custom form and ship the thing for 3 times what it sold for, so Im not against letting him out of the auction.

But what do I do then? Do I offer the item to the runner up? Do I relist? Do I have to file a non paying bidder complaint against him??? HELP! lol

The modem sold for $11.xx, which is less than usual for that model. Shipping to Spain would be at least $20+.

Hmmm well you and the buyer can file a "Mutual Agreement" not to complete the transaction. That way he won't get a strike and you will get your final value credit. If you want to do this go into the dispute console just like you were to file a Non Payment but choose mutual agreement. Aslo tell him to oss ya like 2Bones for having to relist the item for the fee's and such.

pimpin covered it pretty well. One point is that if the buyer dicks you and declines the mutual agreement thing you can no longer file a NPB on him and will not get your fees refunded. There's no reason for him to do that, but I know it's happened to at least one CAGer. Since you really don't want to complete the sale, I wouldn't ask the buyer for anything.

Since it went for less than average, I'd just relist it if I were you rather than offer it to the 2nd highest bidder..
