Is it just me, or do the S controllers suck in terms of durability?

I always get the error message that I need to reconnect the controller and press A.
I need a durable cheap controller, anyone where to get one?

Are those Madcat controllers good?

I recently destroyed my Logitech controller while playing Jade Empire. I think the Controller S is better by comparsion.

I am starting to like the Duke Controller though.....

fuck yeah they suck. I think between me and my brothers we have had about 5 fucked up controllers. The 2 main ones that I'm using right now have that reconnect problem. Just move the wire around until its connected and find a way to keep it like that. For one I wraped the cord once around then taped it and it works and for another I have a pen taped to the cord and base of the contoller to keep it straight.

I found that if I put a large amount of pressure on the area where the wire meets the conrtol pad, it works. I had it working before but I lifted the tape a little so I can get my mic in and it got fucked up again.

Thanks for the input guys.

I've got a transparent blue S that I've had for like two years... but I don't play my XBOX, so that might have something to do with it.

I've had 2 controller S's since I got my xbox and they've worked fine the whole time (about 4 years now I guess....)

I have been using the Star Wars controller that I got from TRU free back in December. It seems to be holding up well and is a good option for a cheap controller.

I've never had an S so I can't speak to their durability. I've never had a problem with the Duke that came with my system though.

Well I wrap the cords around the controller when I finish playing, so I can keep everything neat. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Do you wrap them forwards or backwards? Wrapping them backwards tends to mess up part of the wire.

I've had 4 Controller Ss and one of them has had the disconnect problem, but the rest work perfectly.

That could be part of it... it's a pain, but I haven't done that in years for my controllers... and haven't had wire problems since. Just wrap the cord in a loop, then bind it with a rubber band. Takes longer but maintains the cords over years.

Well it looks like I found the reason my controllers aren't working. Although, I didn't think anything of it at first, considering have no problems with my Gamecube or Playstation two controllers.

Thanks for the advice Aleryn.

Anyone know where to get another one for $20 or less?

I have 4 S controllers for the past 2 1/2 years, play with them ALL the time. Never had a problem.

One of my controllers got a bit screwed up but I fixed it (it was accidentally broken).

All three of my controller-S's work fine, though sometimes they have connect problems with only two games - Fable and Mechassualt 2: Lone Wolf. Why those two games, I'm not sure. But when I reset the games they work fine, and it only happens every once in a while. But its not the controllers fault so I would say that they work flawlessly.

What I do now is the first wrap around I do very loose then the rest just a little loose.

I know firsthand that if you throw a 'S' controller out of the third story window into a paved parking lot that it will simply not work afterword. I witnessed this after my roomate whooped my other roomate in Halo for the umpteenth time. ;)

I have 2 'S' controllers and Ive never had a problem with either of them.

I need to pick up a Duke tho, just so I can show the grandkids one day.
