there were no clearance gams at all at the targets i went to. the cheapest games in the glass cases were $20. all i saw was hot shots golf for PSP for $20 and just ended up getting that

if there are any copies left when the price drops further, buy another copy and return it with your first receipt. I think if the price drops within a couple days of your purchase they'll refund it, not sure tho. I find the buy and return method to be less of a hassle.

Yeah I saw the PSone system with 3 games for $48.98 or something like that. They were originally about $70. I also saw a Gamecube Gameboy Player for $34.98. I will wait for additional drops and see if these items are still there.

Went to the nearest Target to me and there wasn't even a clearance shelf to be found. So then later on today I was near another Target and stopped in to discover a small clearance shelf. Couple Drill Dozers for 14.98 and a bunch of copies of Spiderman 2 for GBA. There were some copies of geist for 25. I almost bought TimeSplitters Future Perfect for 10 bucks. May go back and get it. And finally they had Riddick for Xbox, also 10 bucks. What I did end up purchasing, though, wasn't a game at all but rather a 1 gb Imation thumb drive for 35 bucks. Go figure. I suppose I could have taken the chance to see it go down from 30 to 50 percent but it was the only one left. I live in the Dallas area and this was a Target in Plano. I guess the prices depend on how well the stuff is moving out. None of the games really interested me much but I would have certainly been far more inclined to pick up Timesplitters and Drill Dozer had they been 5 and 7 respectively. I'll give it a little time and check back. Generally how long does it take for the prices to get slashed?

Went back there today and picked it up for $7.48 8-) The CAG whose targets still have Drill Dozer for $15 you might want to hold off till it drops again... and if you haven't checked the price of Drill Dozer in a week or so you might want to check back to see if it's dropped yet.

Sometimes they are in the glass case, but most of the time I see them on the endcaps near the game section. Look around the music/dvd section and also the MP3 area and go to the end of the aisles.

If you have no luck looking in the electronics area (look back by the cd players, musical instruments, etc.) go to where they sell the books and cds. One of the Targets I go to has all of there clearance games on an end cap of a book isle.

i think after 75% they take it out of the system and somehow it ends up at the Goodwill...i always see new clearanced stuff from target at the goodwills near me and games such as Madden for $9.99:roll:

Well, OP said that when it ends in an 8 it can go down further in price. Only when it ends with a 4 should you just pick it up or leave it cause thats the final clearence.

Was just at my local Target and they had the original Xbox Live set with Headset and Whacked/Moto GP demo for $25. The box says something about the subscription offer expiring 10/31/03. I bought one of them and applied it to my 360 account no problems, added 1 year.

Anyone know how far in advance I can stack them? I'm up to 08/08 right now. Or maybe I can buy one more, save it, it and apply it later.

I'll keep checking - seems like the kind of thing that will easily go to 75% as most people don't even know what they are.

The "Mini" Target:
After Target Corp dumped Mervyn's, they decided they wanted to see if they could compete with Mervyn's. So they built a couple pilot stores and I fondly refer to mine as a Mini Target. It's maybe 3/4 to 2/3 the size of your average Target (not a Greatland, just a Target). The variety of selection isn't quite as vast and every department is compressed a little bit. All the goods in the store are on the edges and the clothing department takes up almost half of the floor space and is at the center of the store. I think it's awesome, but I don't always get the same great clearance deals that some other Targets get because of the smaller stock. However, it's awesome for deals like this because the traffic at this store is a little less and it's out of the way for most scalpers and other CAGs.

You're lucky having a Target that has a few sweet deals -- I can't recall seeing any games on any console platform that break under the $10 mark, at any Sunnyvale-area Target or north in the peninsula.

It would be harder to do then Kmart. As we said in the past, Target stores clearance at different times. Normally there could be up to 3-4 weeks before the clearance starts on the same item across different volume stores even in the same area. This is why several people are reporting drill dozer at different prices. Drill dozer could be $20.98 in some stores while pulled completely at others since it hit 90%. Markdowns go 30%, 50%, 75%, and then 90%. As we stated in the pass 90% means it is normally pulled form the floor completely and sent off to goodwill.

The past thing to do is just check the thread and your stores. Overtime you find the patten at your local stores and know which ones to check first. Lower volume stores definitely get the markdowns first and supertargets always get them last.

Secret of the Cursed Mask is really terrible. I got it at Target on clearance last year, and got rid of it as fast as I could. If she's a fan, don't inflict that game on her.

It won't be easy - it's been discontinued. They're still out there, but they're not exactly common anymore.

I called ten EBs and GameStops a few nights ago while I was looking, and checked two physically. The result? One new Game Boy Player (which the employee said was probably stuffed in the back room) and two used ones.

If you're interested, just get it now regardless of price. Otherwise, you might not be able to find it at all.

That's probably some of the most sound advice in the thread.

Like I said, my sister found a copy of Drill Dozer for $3.74 today. Where did she find it? Buried beneath a stack of GameCube games, and surrounded by maybe fifty copies of Donkey Kong Country 2. Yes, you MIGHT get lucky and you MIGHT find it for cheap...but if you wait, chances are good that you'll be beaten to it by someone who's luckier when it drops or is just willing to pay more than you are.

Of course, that should be common sense. I'm not sure why I felt this post was needed, so take it as you will. ;)

Most price drops I think are usually directed by corporate via a master list. I've been at two different Targets in the past two days.

Neither had Chibi Robo or 360 games on clearance. An assortment of the typical clearance games (Geist, Lizzie, Jungle Beat) were available at average prices. Best find was the XBOX GTA double pack for 7.48.

One had the Zen mp3 player at 169.99 (not on clearance), the other didn't have any.

One had the Mobiblu 2GB mp3 cube (it's so cute!) on clearance at 139.99 down from 169.99. I would love one of these if it drops more.

i had seen geist marked at $12.something in my local target (fairfield california), a while ago. they also had drill dozer for $7.something. the other day while browsing around, i saw that the same copies of geist are now marked down to... about $5 or $6? would've grabbed one, if i didn't already have it. the drill dozers are gone now, i think.

PC version of marc ecko's getting up was also marked very cheap. less than $10 if i remember correctly.

no no no, you're looking in the wrong spot. :D

the "value" rack is a red herring (usually $10-$20 items). what you want to look for is another end-of-the-aisle shelf in that department (or a nearby one) where they shove a bunch of red-stickered items, usually a mix of different kinds of stuff. for example the clearance shelf might have a few books, a few music CDs, and a few PC & console games. the clearance shelves are really not obvious to a lot of people, and they walk right past it, but you can usually identify it by the fact that it's a bunch of random stuff that doesn't seem to belong there (until you look at the price tags and realize you found the clearance shelf).

I've noticed clearance stuff is disappearing faster lately and isn't around long enough to drop to a decent price. People have been buying stuff after one drop or it has been shipped off somewhere else.

Geist in the two targets near me are still $12.48. They were still sitting in the case marked at $49.99 until I had them pull them and scan them. The register didn't ring it up but the PDA thingy did at $12.48. Had to be 4-5 copies per store. Will wait and see if they get marked down further. Only worth about $6 to me.

Target also has many copies of Yoshi Topsy Turvey for $14.xx. Grab that title if you like platformers and havent so already. Its well worth it for that price.

Same happened to me yesterday when I tried to get Sonic Heroes for GC. Register (and mounted scanner for customers) said $0, so the employee would only sell it for $13 or so as marked. I passed.

What you should do, though, is make the employee scan it with a hand scanner. I went back today and the guy grumbled about it, and looked totally lost while he tried to scan it, but then looked surprised when it scanned for $5 or so.

I think the point is that you don't lose anything by asking someone with a hand scanner, and many times you will end up with a better price than the sticker.

the LRT's (hand scanners) are updated automatically through the wireless settings at the stoe. Theres ways to go in using the register to find a price but not many of your lonley floor personell will know how. With the LRT they can use the functions NOP (not on Planogram) or UPCS and it will usually come up with the last price that was in the system. Once something has been $0 its usually going to salvage which is a term used for when the stores donate the stuff to the local Goodwill DAV or similar store. The price change team is usually swamped and under staffed so stuff gets missed a lot (or they just print the label without ever finding the item to make their numbers look good).


Also Targets clearence markdowns are based on sales. So if Game a is selling well at 19.98 at Store A but not moving at all at Store B then it will be markdown quicker at Store B than Store A. For the most part stuff on clearance will be universal to every store if it has the same lay out (stores built in the same year will have the same layout, but these layouts (or prototypes) change every year or two). The smaller (usually way older) stores tend to have more clearence (especially in games) as they don't have enough space.

Also anything ending in a $x.x4 (like the $3.74 faceplate) will usually be the final markdown price for that item.

One more thing, during the stores inventory (usually done overnight during April or May, look for white or yellow strips hanging from pegs or off shelves) theres usually a ton of items that have been out of the store for so long that theres no way to salvage them or get any pricing info so these usually go for violently cheap. They'll be marked with a bigger orange sticker with a white stripe through the middle and a barcode on that sticker.

The Naruto price drop is due to the sequel coming out in early September. Just wait for that one if you really want a Naruto game on the Gamecube.
