I got BIA:EIB last week from Target for $5 also, but when I installed it I realized it has Starforce just like X3. You may want to be careful about actually installing them.
Good Point! I knew that they had Starforce (See my Sig), so I didn't purchase them. Glad that you reminded me to spread the word.
Thanks!

I bought the Taiko Drum game for like $4 total but I didn't see the drum set. It was opened and had a piece of clear tape on it. The lady asked me if I was sure if I wanted it because it clearly had been opened, but if I found it was messed up they wouldn't take it back. Told her it was only $4 and took it, but it turned out to be prefect inside.
I went back a week later and the drums were there so I grabbed them too for $9.99.

How do you guys do it? :bomb:
I have been to my target many times. But they have all the ps2,xbox, and GC games behind the glass with the always same prices. I never see a "Sale" or "Clearence" tag on them. So how do you guys get these deals from target. How do you find out the clearence price of those games.
I have been to target many times but never bought a single game because of their price. I never see anything onsale or clearence either
They're usually on endcaps, mixed in with other clearance items. For example, in Exton, they were on the endcaps in the Book Department. There is also a clearance rack in Electronics. Look for the red tags!

Ask for a price check noob! The price tag doesn't mean the game is at that price.

I went to buy the two Donkey Kongas with Bongos I saw over the weekend but they were both gone today.:( I asked to have Pokemon Leaf Green GBA scanned but the employee was very rude gave me a hard time about the price already being on the game when I told her I heard the game was on sale she went to the register and checked a list they had under the desk and said that was not the one on sale she refused to open the glass case for me. First time that has ever happened to me.
Just tell her you want to buy it. Then if it rings up high, you change your mind.
They wouldn't refuse a sale would they?

If you find Syberia II and like adventure games, get it. It does not have starforce, at least not the jewel case version published by XS. I don't think any versions since the Adventure Company published versions have had starforce, and possibly none of the US versions, according to my extensive research.
Too bad after installing the game I found it dry, uneventful, and boring, but this kind of adventure game is like a really long book...it takes a while before it gets started.

I picked up a copy of Doom 3 for 4.98 and an Atari Compilation for 2.98. I am not a big into PC Gaming but for 8 bucks after taxes its worth a shot.
I'm not sure if it's a clearance or Platinum Hits, but Doom 3: CE for Xbox is $19.99, and the silver 360 faceplates are $4.74 at my Target. Obviously, YMMV.

First of all, I'd like to thank whoever suggested going to Target on Mondays to look for the clearance deals. Usually I go later in the week, but I went yesterday after work and hit the motherload. Below is what I picked up.
"Donkey Konga 2" with bongos :gc: $19.99
"Mario Tennis: Power Tour" :gba: $3.74
"Drill Dozer" :gba: $3.74
"Dr. Mario/Puzzle League" :gba: $3.74
"World Tour Soccer: 2006" :ps2: $3.74 (I have since learned that this is a horrible game. I just bought it because I plan on getting a PS2 soon and wanted to build my library)

A Target I went to last week had a overhaul in the game section. They pushed a LOT of games in the endcap and had a section sealed off for PS3. They even had the posters and banner set up. I don't understand the whole clearance thing for games.
Are all the games mentioned here considered as clearance, the only difference being the prices, depending on location or is it possible that a clearance game may not be in the system at all at another Target and ring up at full price?
Thanks ahead.

This is one of those games that I am willing to try, but only for a nice price (around $10 or so) My Target had several on clerance.
Hell, even Gamerush dropped the regular price on this to $29.99 a few weeks back. I think Best Buy too... Hopefully I can find one mistagged at a Target in 3-4 weeks when it is down to $12.48.

The Target clearance thread still exists, but it got unstickied because some people thought it was unecessary. So now, we get have new threads pop up whenever a clearance deal is found. It's not your fault though.
The Target and K-Mart clearance threads should still be stickied. I'm not sure what they were thinking taking those popular threads off a spot on the first page.
Anyone who finds a clearance deal at Target should just bump the old thread.

I might grab it if it's still in stock at $10-12, otherwise I'll wait for Circuit City or Best Buy to clearance out their 50 million copies collecting dust. This game got pretty bad to mediocre reviews all around, mostly due to the difficulty of controlling your troops, I believe. I'll give it a chance anyway...just not going to pay a lot for this muffler.
By the way, this will hit rock bottom price around the same time Target gets in their Wii games, so it's a title to keep an eye out for when you go to Target to pick up your 3 Wii titles to get your free $20 gift card (best Wii launch deal posted so far).

When an item shows up as $0.00 they'll either give you the last clearance price for it, or it needs to be salvaged. $0.00 is how Target lists things that are to be salvaged, they won't just "give it to you".

Unfortunately it isn't that easy. Target won't price adjust clearance items. They will not let you buy them back immediately either. Instead, they have to be "processed" and are returned to the floor later. So returning and rebuying them is a gamble since you don't know when the games will return to the floor. I lost 3 psp games for cheap that way... .

Agreed! I tried return, rebuy, and do price adjustment but no GO for me. They told me it's clearance & it ringup $0 on the computer. So they either use small computer unit to scann it to findout what's the last price & sale it to you (YMMV). Surely, 90% they take it back to the backroom & send it back to somewhere.

Which is still more than it costs at Best Buy after GGC - reg price is $29.99-$5=$24.99.
Not a great game IMHO. I rented it from Gamefly and gave up after 10 minutes. The microphone is a gimick that frankly didn't work for me - using the standard controller made it even more blah. Definitely not worth spending more that 10 bucks on.
I agree with the Gamespot mini-review: "It's definitely unique as far as strategy games go, but Odama's novel mechanics and oddly authentic samurai feel are kneecapped by punishing difficulty and oft frustrating controls. 6.6"

My Target had a ton of these in the case...doesn't look like they sold even one copy at full price. They'll probably still be there when it hits $10-12. Clearance games never sell at Target until they take them out of the case and put them on an endcap. Hopefully, they don't do that with this game, because I'd like a $12 copy.

I checked the price on Kingdom Hearts COM again and it came up $.00 So I took one up to the cashier and it scanned $.00 there too. She asked her manager what to do and the manager told her to key in some number then the price as marked (which was $9.98) then take 75% off of that price. So I ended up getting it for $2.50! I then told the cashier I'd be back in a few because there were more back in electronics. So I grabbed about 5 copies of the game. I love it when I can rescue a game destined to the Goodwill. :)
I also picked up Wrestlemania 21 for the Xbox for $4.98 at a different store.

I found another Target with two more copies of Odama improperly marked, but ringing up at $12.48. I could get more for other CAGs, yet the cost to ship it in a crushproof box + taxes, PayPal fees, etc., drives the costs up to about $18 shipped, thus killing the deal, unless someone wanted to trade for it.
If they hold out until the next price drop, the shipped cost will be a much better deal, so I'll keep an eye on them.

That's called return fraud, and it's a felony. People like you who cheat the system annoy me.
What's he doing wrong? Target gets a copy of the game returned and he gets his game at clearance price.
It's as if he bought the game, never opened it, returned it and bought the clearanced game.
There are a lot of shaddy things going on at CAG that you can point out. This is not one of them. Target loses nothing if he does this.

How is this any different from the policies that stores offer where they'll give you the price difference if they put the item on sale during a certain window after your purchase?
It could just be that I'm a broke college student, but I don't see anything glaringly wrong with doing that...or anything that would make it a felony, for that matter.

Actually, they lose the last price before clearance of the item, so if it's 10 bucks or so, Target loses 10 bucks.

Ya know, while it would be nice to update that list, it wouldn't do any good for people who might want to buy the game. listing it like this is the only way someone's going to see it...
Seconded.
Target is so YMMV, it's not even worth checking that clearance list. You might as well just go to Target and see the 1 or 2 games they have that week.

Isn't $12.48 the 75% off price, meaning it is unlikely to drop again before it is sent off to the netherworld (or Goodwill)? My local Target actually still has them locked up in the case with no clearance stickers on them. It has been a while since I've been able to snag a game like that. I'll have to print a UPC and see what they are selling it for.

Yeah, Gun's been well-stocked at Target. My local Targets still have a bunch. I bought it there about a month or 2 ago when it was $10.99 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beat it, then traded it to EB during their trade 3 promotion and got back almost what I paid for it. I looked at it as a $2 rental that I got to keep for about 3 weeks.
Anyway, good game. And your local Target should have it. If so, pick it up.

Regardless of whether Odama is good or not, I don't understand why financial gambles like this make it to the US while better bets like Earthbound/Mother stay in Japan. I'm all about new and inventive games making it to market, but you'd figure that EA-style greed would occasionally benefit gamers.

It depends on the item I think. Most times it seems like a game won't go past 75% off but once in a while a game will drop to half off the 75% off price. Geist I think dropped to $6.24 from the $12.48 75% off price.

Got the last copy of Odama at the Champaign IL Target for $12.98. They had a lot of copies of Ninja Gaiden Black for $14.98, but I'm hoping it'll go down more. Also had Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and The Warrior for Xbox for $9.98. I believe they had Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks for $7.98 as well as a bunch of other stuff.

Stopped at my local Target (Puyallup, WA) tonight and happened to notica a couple small stacks of red-tagged games at the bottom of the PS2 case. I found 1 copy of Simpsons Hit & Run listed at $9.98, so I grabbed it. But they also had about a dozen copies of Sonic Heroes for Gamecube, also for $9.98, and there was a single copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2 For XBOX at the same price, as well as a lone copy of Madden '06 for PS2 for $20.xx.
I have no idea how widespread any of these prices are, but looking back over the last several pages, I didn't see any of them mentioned, so you might want to give it a try.

You'll notice, if you go to the return desk, that clearance merchandise can be refunded at the current clearance price. This language is in really big letters at all the Targets I've ever been to. However, application is YMMV.
So yes, you always have 90 days to return something. But you may not get a full refund of everything you initially paid if the item is on clearance.
There are, of course, ways around this. Waiting until the clearance item completely drops out of the system will usually get you a full refund. Also, taking the item to a different Target will often get you the full refund because Targets typically clearance at different rates.
Perhaps this is changing, though. I can't recall a time when a game dropped seemingly universally over all Targets like Odama has.

Now, I haven't read the sign at the customer service desk in your target, so this is just from a lot of overall Target clearance experience.
Clearance items will be refunded at the price on the purchase receipt. If you don't have a receipt, you will get the lowest/current clearance price (even though they can usually look up your purchase if you paid by credit/debit).
The CS desk person can refund the original purchase price if they find your purchase in the system, but they are definitely not supposed to. This is to protect against you buying something at the latest clearance price with cash and then returning it to get a refund from a previous purchase.
There seems to be confusion between price protection and returns.
The price protection doesn't cover clearances.
You CANNOT return and immediately re-buy something. Anything you return is put in the "return carts" (though some places may have other holding mechanisms) and re-enters the system, usually that night.
So:
- if you buy something, and it then goes on clearance/lower clearance, you can return the original purchase but aren't guaranteed that you can buy it at the lower price.
- if there are some left, you can buy one and return the original
Other note: Clearance implementation is 100% by individual store. I believe the word comes down from above to clearance things, but how the store does it is up to them. There are 4 Targets I hit weekly (all on the way to work) and clearance prices and schedules vary hugely. At one store, electronics never go past 50% - they salvage them first. At another, they are very slow to clearance items, because they have a higher sell rate. One Lego set I bought at 75% off ($25) stayed at the full $100 at another Target for more than 6 months! On the other hand, one that I go to that is a mile or two away from a newer/bigger/more popular Target has the best clearances, hands down.

That applies to holiday and seasonal merchandise only. If you buy a Halloween item when it is 50% off and return it 2 days later when it's 75% off, you'll only get the 75% off price back even if you have the receipt showing you paid the 50% off price.
With everything else like games, you'll get back the price you paid with your receipt even if the price dropped since you bought it.
They don't price guarantee clearance items, and the normal sale items are only price guaranteed for 14 days.

That's extremely stupid.
So let's say I bought Odama at say, $12.98, and later on decided against keeping it and just wanted to get my money back and it had dropped to say, $6.94, Target is only going to give me $6.94 back?

Regarding Target returns....
If you buy something and save your receipt, they will give you what you paid for it back...no questions...on general regular pricedmerchandise
I think where people get confused...if you buy it on clearance for $20, and then they drop it to $10, sometimes they will, and sometimes they won't..it seems fairly arbitrary...I think it is left up to the discretion of the person doing the transaction...you bought it last week and it dropped is different than you bought it 6 months ago...I think they price adjust if it moves within 30 days. But some take a harder line and won't on clearance...they will offer you either a refund on a return, but no continuining adjustment.
On holiday stuff...you cannot buy seasonal stuff and then return it after the holidays and get full amount back (generally)...they do this to keep people from "renting" stuff like yard decorations..buying in Nov and then coming back in January and wanting full price refund...same for crap on halloween costumes.
I have bought and returned a bunch of stuff to Target, and their policies seem fair and reasonable. If you let anyone return anything for any reason, you end up with abuse that costs everyone money. My ex-wife used to work at Wal-Mart...and the snowbirds would come down in the fall and furnish their trailers with new TV's and what not..and then come back in the spring and get a full refund for what they paid. Also folks would buy a new computer, stick their old computer in the box, and then return it to Wal-Mart for a refund. Wal-Mart didn't care because they just shipped it back to the suppliers and made them eat it...but guess who pays for it eventually? All of us who are not criminals or scumbags.
And yes, target generally wants a receipt to make sure they are not refunding on something bought cheaper elsewhere (especially for Cash..I thin they will generally give you a merchandise instore credit without a receipt)...that is why they give out gift receipts these days. So if you get a gift that sucks and you want to return it...blame the person that gave it to you without the gift receipt and not Target.
They also keep track of how much you return if you don't have a receipt and limit you to a given amount per year...to keep the lid on professional shoplifters.

I have never had an issue returning a clearance item to Target. I get back what I paid, no hassle. The only questions I get are "Is there something wrong with this" or "Is there a reason you are returning this?" Easily answered questions. "No" and "changed my mind" always work great. I feel Target has one of the best return policies of all the big box stores. If you have a receipt, you haven't opened your game, you get your money back. Lines are usually quick.
One time, I bought a GBA game from the game case and since you don't really get to see the game, I ended up buying a GBA game box that someone stole the game out of. I didn't notice this until I went home. I went back to Target, told them what happened and they replaced my gameless game, no questions asked.
Try returning something to Fry's someday. Yikes!
