Today, Eidos Interactive announced that Tomb Raider: Legend for the Nintendo platforms will be released this fall. No gameplay details on the handheld versions were revealed, but a statement from the company says the DS and GBA versions will "capture the detail and breadth" of the console versions.
However, owners planning to pick up Tomb Raider: Legend for a Nintendo platform may get more than just a simple port. Eidos brand manger Kathryn Clements says, "There are a host of new and exciting features for Lara on the Nintendo platforms," but did not go into detail.

Wow, fuck Eidos for releasing extra features on a system that will probably have the lowest possible sales out of all of them released (Gamecube).
I mean, I know it's to entice all 10 or so people who own a Gamecube and no other system to buy the game, but if its extra levels and stuff they damn well better release that stuff on Xbox 360 and PC, espically since the game felt rushed to begin with.
I guess PS2 owners are just screwed.
And this Fall? Just scrap the GC version, all the hype from the game will be long gone at that point.

Sounds more like either each platform is unique (GC/DS/GBA), or all three versions will be different from the previous ones. I doubt it will be like a Tomb Raider Legend LE, more like a Tomb Raider Different Legend.

Don't worry 360 owners, it will be out on a marketplace download a few months later... for 200 marketpoints :(

Hmm, I have to wonder about how well the controls will translate to the Gamecube version. The Xbox version uses ALL of the controller's many buttons, and I cringe at the thought of playing this game on the modest Gamecube controller. Hopefully the GC development team has some good ideas for getting GC to replicate all of Lara's many functions.

Word. This sort of thing has happened in the past (I'm looking at you Ubisoft) and usually the ports are 2nd rate, but 100% of the time the sales flop because A) the game is months old and B) it's on most people's 2nd or 3rd option for a gaming system.

Although I own all consoles, I wouldn't consider this game until now. I almost always get third party games on Gamecube, and even hearing "For PS2 and Xbox" turns me off.
There are some exceptions, of course.
