View Full Version : Sites providing E3 2006 video coverage?

Oops! I did it again.

Well, Nintendo usually provides a feed on their site, but if I remember correctly, the live feed is usually not on par with some of the subscription sites. Perhaps things will be different this year, but what (in you guys' opinions) is site with the best history in providing higher qualtiy streams of the conferences and sufficient info from the booths?

IGN Insider and GameSpot will obviously be providing live conference streams. You guys have any advice on which of those two usually ends up with streams that suffer the least from the bandwidth issues? Also, beyond conference streams, there's always a lot of other info to cover - and I know IGN has done a great job in the past of providing speedy info/videos from the floor, but does anyone do it better?

Also, if you guys know of any other sites, please list 'em!

If someone has also recently started a thread like this on another board that I have not noticed, please feel free to give this guy the ol' lock treatment. :)

Gamespot provides it for download after the fact, I think. Hopefully, at least, since I won't be able to watch anything until Tuesday night.

G4 is providing live E3 coverage but I don't know how detailed it is going to be. If they are going to show live coverage of all of the big 3 presentations, I am going to be recording that show all day during E3.

That'd be pretty rad. I still wish I had G4.

F'ing basic cable, what can I say!

Looks like the official E3 site is offering some feeds. It's hard to tell if the big 3 presentations are going to be free or not.

The Wii's Flash animation brought Nintendo's site down. What do you think video coverage of their presentation on Tuesday is going to do? Yeah...

Gametrailers I'm gonna guess.

I'm much more excited about E3 this year then any previous E3, since we got DSL a few months back and I'll actually be able to stream and download videos. I can't wait to see the press conferences.

Gamespot will have Sony + Nintendo live, and MS an hour after it ends. All free to watch too.

Tagging to suck the juicy morsels of information out later. I believe the site offering the free DVDs is also offering some sort of online video service, but I'm not 100% positive on the details (time, what's being taped, etc.).

Hmm... forgot times were in PST. I guess I'll have to take an early lunch on the 9th so I don't miss Nintendo at 12:30 EDT.

She's probably going to be downloading all the demos from E3 off Xbox Live like the rest of us.

They didn't last year, so I doubt they will this year. Besides, they have episodes of Fastlane to show.

The only think that sucks is that I'll be missing the Sony and Nintendo conferences since I'm busy during those times. :-(

OOOOOOH SNAP!!! I wonder if I should watch this in my apartment with DSL or go to my college's library and use their broadband...

WHICH IS FASTER?! ADVISE ME!!!

BTW, are they doing this for the other two Press Conferences? Or is it a Nintendo-Only treat?

Oops! I did it again.

Cool that Gametrailers is providing the free conference. Hopefully all of these different sites providing coverage will minimize the overload felt on the servers of all of the sites collectively. Anyway, after looking at these other E3 coverage options, I think I'm just going to stick with my Insider subscription and hope their coverage is just as comprehensive as the other guys.

i think it depends how dorky you want to look in public. Cause you will shout out "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" at least once, most likely you dont want to do that in public

No worries - it's during finals and saying "Wiiiiii" is a lot less disconcerting than seeing a streaker run through the library at 5 AM. *Groan*

BTW, anyone think that it'd be worth getting Gamespot Live for one month at $3 just for E3? I'm seriously considering it, as I want to see the Nintendo Conference live and am pretty sure that GameTrailers.com is going to get SLAMED with traffic.

I think it's a good deal. I personally signed-up for the GameSpot Plus account for $3.00 bucks, I think all the hours of live streaming content is definitely worth the money.

I was, however, having difficulty deciding between the Plus and the Total Access accounts, basically though, they are virtually the same. The main difference is that the Total Access account gives you fast downloads, but I don't see that as really an issue, considering how quickly my downloads went last year when I was a non-paying member.

Well keep in mind: what else in the world would you do with three bucks? Buy a gallon of gas? A box of mac and cheese? Rent a flick for a night? I mean, obviously you'll enjoy the E3 conferences and take away something from seeing 'em, so I say go for it! :) You're right that Nintendo and Gametrailers are both probably going to be hit pretty hard, but hopefully that'll be good for those of us using the subscription sites; fewer people feeling the need to subscribe to 'em or leech the streams for free.

Yeah, definitely. GameSpot does a good job of e3 coverage, their shows are always fun and entertaining, so you're not just paying for streaming Press Conferences.

I think this year's E3 will be much more rukus than most any other E3 to my memory. But then again, I never really cared about any E3 before so I'm not the best judge of hype and anticipation. All I know is that mine is beyond reason.

I think a large chunk of that is because over the past few years, Nintendo has been regaining everyones faith in them, and the unvealing of the Wii is kind of what everything is leading up to.

As much as I'd like to believe that, I'm pretty sure most people would say the exact opposite - that Nintendo has been losing the faith of those in their camp.

To be honest, from a once fanboy to a recent Sony convert, I've only really gotten interested in Nintendo again following the Game Developer's Conference when they revealed the Wii. I think most would agree that Nintendo's reclaiming of faith and enthusiasm has only really happened since September.

But boy howdy, have they rekindled a lot of flames amongst we old-schoolers.

Oh, ok, that is still a pretty good deal if you just have to pay another $3 (If your month of complete runs out before the DVD comes out) Do you remember if it came out near the beginning or the end of June last year?

For once, I'm glad to have G4. They'll actually have something worthwhile (hopefully) for once instead of Star Trek. Live updates and up to the minute info directly from press conferences and shows- no slow loading sites, no waiting to download videos, no low quality feeds...:)

What the fuck?! Is Gamespot all fucked up for anyone else? Only a couple things are showing up. I'm going to be pissed if this is happening when Sony's stuff is going on! :bomb:
